@CarolinebByCaroline Hi Caroline, I'm John Clerk-Russell and remember well the trip from west end on the road my brother Bink and I, along with others built to access Smugglers. That was in 1962 and the family, Clerks, opened the beach for business in late 1963. Yes it was awesome to sleep in an army hammock under the almond tree. In 1970 we built the ice factory which I ran until college in 1975. A great life, never to be forgotten. Chow-TortolaIceman.
I agree with CarolineByCaroline. I too can remember having "The Cove" to myself or ourselves with my wife. Maybe another couple or two would be off at the other end. Now, you can hardly get a place to sit unless you get there first. Very sad indeed and the reef has been ruined. All dull grey coral and mostly dead.
