  • @Poultryhole It actually does not rattle handled on at bestbuy didn't rattle something must be wrong with his or they fixed it

  • Should I get this Laptop or a Dell XPS 17? I'm making a purchase tomorrow and I'm kinda torn between the two.

  • which one is the video to upgrade the mem from 6 gig to 12 gig

  • what would be a better buy this or the m11x as im debating although i admit the asus is a better bang for the buck also is the battery removeable?

  • Get an Alienware.

  • How many years will this laptop last ?

  • Would the battery die if you keep on charging the laptop every single day without unplugging the power cable ?

  • I thought the g53 will be significantly smaller than the 17in. g73/74 but its still a huge laptop lol.

  • you said the keyboard color can be changed, how?

  • since there is no subwoofer on the 53 does it make a difference from the g73?

  • Do you think its a bad idea to customize you your own laptop and change the processor speed?? in online stores.

will i have any problems if they did all this?

  • @0dragon0fable0 No, the online overclock to the maximum the processor can handle without damaging it.

Anyway, these computers have a BEAST cooling system, just check out the vents on the back.

  • Odd... I have the same one and it doesn't rattle at all like that.

  • 3:24 It RATTLES when you tap the front?!

Good thing you told me. I almost bought this piece of trash.

  • @BToTech1

    hello,

I owe a G53JW, but the system information menue shows the following:

    ASUS Notebook G53JW/G53JQ

    can you please confirm?

    thanx

  • Difference between SW and JW ?

  • I am thinking about G53, not G73 because I might as well take a desktop with me then. Anyways, the only issue that I have is "1.73 GHz". That's really low. That caught me by surprise, usually Asus will not overlook things like that nature. 1.73 GHz for a gaming laptop doesn't seem right. Cause who the heck wants to be overclocking the system all the time. 2.2 GHz and I would ve purchased it already! I might end up going with a desktop for the same price I can get 3.8 GHz, no portability though

  • does g53sw has a subwoofer

  • hi i have this exact same computer and as u now probably there is a 174 os hardrive with a 502 gb hardrive how do i utilize the second harddrive as the orimary is full

  • does this one have a subwoofer aswell ? like the g73 ?

  • @FullM3tal7ack3t negative

  • @BToTech1 but how does is sound, is it the same like the g73 ?

  • whats the battery time

  • @AStopmotionStudio less then 2 hours

  • @BToTech1 Do you guys plan on getting the G53SW soon?

  • @wildman279 pretty soon yea

  • I'm new to PC gaming. With a laptop, are you able to customize the parts normally like a desktop? I don't want to spend money on a laptop to know it will be outdated soon.

  • HOW YOU REMOVE THE TOUCH PAD PANEL IS MY ???

  • So is this basically just the XN1 with a 750 GB HDD, and 2GB more RAM included? Would I be missing out on much if I chose not to pay the extra almost $200?

  • @jerm2222 6GB is enough :P I have a gaming desktop and 4 does me good. more RAM does not equal faster. faster RAM=faster.

  • @aquapwnsyou lol true, but at least I could brag about it to people who know even less than I do.

  • 91C ON GPU IS STILL NORMAL? what the hell i dont want another one cooking GPU.

  • @xEmberstrife yes it is normal most of them average at about 90c which is maximum

  • @BToTech1 I'm planning to get a gaming laptop and I'm thinking of getting this? Any other PC I should get? Plz reply back. XD

  • Can some1 PLEASE do a Video Installation Guide of 4 sticks of ram memory on the ASUS G53JW. step by step, would be super useful none online

  • Shittiest review I have ever seen. It seemed like you cut a bunch out and the constant pause-resume thing you did was not professional at all.

  • "2 hours 15 min... thats with all the lights disabled and power for saving, uh... power for gear... battery... uhhmm.... "

  • Dog drinking @ 6:47

  • @EvertvanIngen that wasn't a dog. he was fapping

  • do you have a dog? if yes than i heard it drinking XD

  • suus?

  • asus G53JW A1 vs MSI GX660R-060US?

  • boring ass review

  • Great review - only the essential info and no bs.

I heard the G53 generally has less issues than its predecessor (BSOD, GSOD, keyboard and backlight), however this video also confirms my suspicion that it runs warmer than the g73 due to the smaller size. Will this increased heat result in a shorter lifespan?

  • @SgtRio94 ncix probably

  • Does this laptop come with a recovery backup at least?

  • @pepegamer77 it does on a hidden recovery partition on the primary drive.

  • @SgtRio94 tigerdirect.ca has them

  • What is the Windows score with a SSH in it insted of the 7200 rpm HDD?

    Thanks

  • @Raccoonraper the wei index is a little improved. what is important is that the read/write is more then doubled with an ssd drive. avoid hybrid drives they do nothing

  • how much is this gaming notebook?

  • ASUS G53JW-XT1 Laptop Computer - Intel Core i7-740QM 1.73GHz, 6GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, Blu-ray Player/DVDRW, 15.6", Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit...

this computer is it a good computer for gaming and how would you rate it 0 to 10.does i make a good choice to buy this one. tanks .

  • This or m17x r.3?

  • These are all amazing laptops, I went with the G73JW-XA1 simply for the ease of service. I liked the 2 screws vs. 10 for the G53, and having more ram and airflow is always a plus. These laptops perform amazingly well. Runs all of my games almost as well as my desktop (i7 920, EVGA GTX480 SC). It would have been nice to have 5.1 or 7.1 surround output (like MSI gives), an option for a matte screen, and a second hard drive cage. Awesome folding@home systems, too.

  • asus g73sw and g53sw benchmarks posted on our forums

  • Hi, I dont know much about upgrading gpu's and cpu's in notebooks. But it is possible to upgrade either the cpu or gpu of an ASUS G53JW-HD-SX109V? I'm guessing its not possible, but can anyone confirm?

  • Hello,

I called Asus Support Belgium and they told me they didn't know for sure if you could replace the HDD without voiding the warranty.

Now my question is if you know if you can replace the HDD with and SSD without voidng the warranty.

  • @MaSSaSlaYeR yes yes you can

  • i bought the same thing but my laptop doesnt rattle.

  • @aqcpatrick

did urs have a dual hardrive?

  • @tsunayoshi987 check it. mine have dual harddrive and it's also asus g53jw-a1. ssd is not really that special. wait for 5 years until it's cheap.

  • @aqcpatrick like i said in the video this may have been an early issue

  • this laptop is the coolest thing i've optained...but what irritates me most is the location of the jags on the side....VERY messy!!

  • Is the power adapter for this laptop smaller than the one for g73jw? Was considering portability as well :O

  • I would have repasted with something like Gelid GC-Extreme. It's thermal conductivity is far superior to Arctic Silver (any variant), and doesn't require any cure time. It lowered my GTX 480 temps by 6c under load on the stock DHT cooler, and by 20c on my CPU (after 6 months of usage with AS-5). It also does not need to be reapplied after long term usage.

  • @moose4computers How about the IC Diamond?

  • @driftapex Only reason I don't suggest that is I haven't used it yet. I don't particularly like putting abrasives (however amazingly thermally conductive they are) on my CPUs, GPUs, etc. especially if there's a warranty involved (like with the lifetime warranty on EVGA cards... you can replace the TIM but if you damage the heat spreader or other components, your warranty is void).

  • People say that the CPU/GPU is not user upgradeable, but the CPU looks like it could easily be changed by the user (given they know what they are doing, of course ;) Though I can see that the GPU board definitely isn't standard, so that's no mystery. I guess I just curious why they say the CPU isn't upgradeable.

  • @onefreakiekid I've upgraded CPUs on laptops before with a similar socket design and it's VERY easy. They're just PGA-style sockets (although this may be a laptop variant of the LGA socket, but I don't see the retaining lid).

  • at 35 seconds he says "we can change the keyboard color to blue, red, yellow or green" ... How?

  • @t1hawver He said " we can't change the keyboard color to blue, red, yellow or green"

  • @t1hawver yes we can. but that comes with the customization. when you order it online.

  • hey when you upgrade the colors of the keyboard and stuff does it void any warantees?

  • @BtoTech1 Plz help, can you share expirence on removing the screen outer frame? there is 2 screw under the screen that are almost 90 degree, is there any way to remove the screen frame without takeing the whole laptop apart?

  • Is the Asus logo really illuminated? it kinda just looks like its chrome/reflective.

  • @xshadowspherex yes it is illuminated.

  • @xshadowspherex yes it is illuminated.

  • I love how at 3:06 you worried people would be like "Aww, that dude farted super loud!", so you put "that was the chair" smooth. great review like always, and if you can answer a quick question, what is the back of the LCD panel made of? a cheapo plastic, or is is it strong?

  • Temp is 92°C on this laptop. When i tested MSI GT663 for P4G, i just had 77°C max on a 20 minutes test of furmark. And the cooling system of the MSi is poor: one fan alone for CPU AND GPU.

  • Whats the max temperature that you got on GPU?

I own a G51 and the GPU heating is just as bad.

I know the card is more powerful but I was expecting better cooling this time.

  • Are you able to cool more the GPU: 90°C for this one and 69°C for the G73. Incredible, and seems a little bit too hign for the lifetime of this component.

  • How does the rest pad comes off? Please help!!!!!

  • hey @BToTech1, I really need your help. Is this model any different from the ASUS G53JW-XA1 model? The specs are almost the same and its only $1300. Need to buy a gaming laptop. Thanks.

  • @sk8ersboi Only difference out there are: the hard drive and XA1 does not have the backpack + gaming mouse.

  • @sk8ersboi warranty is different too

  • @BToTech1 i believe the max ram of this one is 8 gb and the max ram of G53JW-XA1 is 6 gb. also this one has EAX HD 5.0 and G53JW-XA1 has EAX HD 5.0. this one comes with gaming backpack and gaming mouse. that's the difference i think

  • @BToTech1

this is really unessary but asus has a video on how to pronounce asus and it said like ay-soos, just saying lol

  • @BToTech1

this is really unessary but asus has a video on how to pronounce asus and it said like ay-soos, just saying lol, and another thing is that u get a 3-4 degrees difference when u use ic diamond (best thermal paste out there), and if u can do a copper shim mod u can get another 3-5 degrees off lowering it by a total of 6-10 degrees

  • Hey! Think it can run Call of Duty: Black Ops with max FPS? I consider buying since my Asus N51V is getting pretty laggy at the most games.

  • @SecretSpecialAgent yeah pretty close to it. for the price you will find nothing better equiped then this

  • @SecretSpecialAgent my G73Jh runs black ops at max and this laptop is better....so yeah, this will run black ops flawlessly at max

  • Whats with the logo, why is it like pealed off?

  • @AiDz0r the what?

  • @BToTech1 The logo behind the laptop and the bag, (Republic of Gamers)....

  • @AiDz0r i am not seeing it. there is nothing peeled off

  • too bad there's a rattle on the palm rest.. that really sucks bigtime. I hope it gets fixed by asus on upcoming revision models... or maybe it was just a factory defect??? coz im planning on getting this but the rattling sound of the loosely fit palm rest just below the keyboard swept me off bad. tsk.

  • @wantedvictor i cant say its a big deal. not even worth mentioning.

  • @wantedvictor it's form factor issue because palm rest made lower. It can be fixed if ASUS replace the material used in g53jw.

  • What is the Windows Experience Index for this beautiful machine?

  • @xshadowspherex check the vide it is shown in there. same as the g73. 7.1 score

  • @xshadowspherex See what people say about FPS and look on notebookcheck for info on the GPU. There have been a lot of people that upgrade to i7 laptops only to find a nice framerate drop due to poor GPU and letdown of buying into the useless ratings and other hype. This GPU is very good from the info I've seen, and I love the design of this. I'm looking for something that can render video and run Pro Tools a little better than the G50VT-X5 and this seems to have what it takes.

  • I ordered mine with thermal paste. It costs around 40$. That's 40$ with no difference in temperature?

  • @VagabonNinja who did you pay 40$ to? please consider that 40$ is not enough to do this job and yes it will likely show no results. also you need to worry about who is working on your laptop.

  • @BToTech1

Sorry my bad, it was 75$ for the IC Diamond compound. I bought it at power notebooks. This is the first time I've ordered a custom laptop from there.

  • @VagabonNinja i am sure donald will take good care if it.

  • where did you get it men, im struggling to get one, its out of stock almost every where.

  • @mnotun

you should have gotten on it when it was in pre-order. They had a lot of pre-orders and are shipping a small amount at a time. Probably won't be available until sometime next month.

  • It's like the G73jh's son.

  • BTOTech you have outdone another review once again with all the information we all seek and want. Thank you for answering the most vital questions we would need answered. Will buy from you anytime...

  • this laptop is out already cause im trying to get the this one the 17 one is too big for me where do u order do u know?..

  • @jeffmarce89

yea and also the 17 is too big for the 460. The 460 can play games on the 17 but the smaller the screen, the more fps you get when playing games.

  • @VagabonNinja they have the same res dude (the 15" and 17"). The lower the RES, the better the performance. Screen size has little to do w/ resolution. You'll get the exact same performance on the 17" as you would on the 15"

  • @s9729126c

I'm basing this on fps results at cyberpower pc. They have two laptops with the same card and the 17 inch has about 20 fps less than the 15 inch one.

  • @VagabonNinja they probably didn't benchmark those two w/ the same settings. Unless of course the 17" version has a stronger gpu (im pretty sure it doesnt though)

  • @s9729126c

I'm not too sure about the specifics but they have a drop down menu where you can choose the game (modern warfare/starcraft 2) and their settings and it will show what they got as far as fps. They were tested at full resolution. ibuypower tested them at lower resolution but they were mostly unimpressive when it came to BF2 high settings.

  • this or hp envy 13 beats edition? the only thing thats making me lean towards that is the size & thickness of the asus

  • @ryan333ish very different. you are comparing a tractor trailer to a hatchback

  • Thanks for the quick video review. Nicely done.

After the AS5 repaste, were the temps the same as you expected?

  • @VfRuckus i still have not put it back together, it is still in bits and pieces. i will put an anotation there with final results. I expect to get no results or inconclusive at best. do not pay for a repaste that is my expert advice.

  • @VfRuckus repaste did nothing
