@fatalbert441 We acknowledged that North Richland Hills played this show. We used it as the preview the year prior. Now did we copy the show "EXACTLY". No, of course not, that would require us to have played and marched the exact same sets as NRH did. The drill and music was different at at least some point in the show. Don't think of this as a rip off, think of it as a compliment; following a good example even. Don't be mad, it's an awesome show and everyone loved performing it.

Except I'm a little disappointed with the show were doing this year, kinda feels like we took it down a notch.

Just my opinion, it could come together really well in the end.

I'm from Iowa Park and I've always looked at the Argyle Band with respect no matter where I was because my dad is a director, and just being in the same area as argyle high school adds a special kind of difficulty to marching and all state band.

I think the problem with saying Argyle's show was ripped from Richland is the fact that it isn't the same show at all. Now the reason for all this flack is that people are tired of seeing you guys win state with shows that have already been done. All they wish for is for some originality but hey I've liked this, exodus, and beyond perimeters, so keep doing what your doing and go after the three-peat

Saying it's "ripped" is kind of cruel. Show designers repackage shows and sell them to other schools all the time....I actually like hearing the different interpretations, especially by good bands such as the likes of Richland and Argyle.

I agree with you, except that's not a luxury everyone has.....Custom shows are expensive. And this still doesn't change the fact just because writers don't mind reselling their shows at a discount and plenty of bands are willing to pay for it, doesn't mean that bands that play them are ripping off other schools' shows.

Argyle Band does the same as any other band, it's just we take everything more serious and we bring everything to a new level.

Plus, I'm pretty sure the 15 point difference clearly shows who deserved it.

Every band did great, it's just Argyle impressed the judges.

Usually, it's the last band to preform that has the better shot at winning seeing as it is the last thing the judge sees. But it's the bands that leave a great impression on judges: we (argyle) accomplished that :)

The trumpet sextet gets me every time. I'm so glad KJ took advantage of having 5 stellar Senior trumpets and a beast Junior trumpet. Just a personal thank you to the underclassmen who watch this video, thank you guys for all the hard work and time put in to the show. We couldn't have done it without you guys.

Oh, @emz3mtsyb, we didn't mic our best players. We mic'd the soloists and the flute quartet. Us in the trumpet sextet didn't need mics. Our snare soloist didn't need a mic either.

@emz3mtsyb I'm curious as to who should have won. It's obvious that your musical sense and prowess is vastly superior to the 9 of the 10 judges in prelims and finals that placed us first. I guess at least all five of the finals judges should have asked you who should win before they all put us first. I'm not trying to be harsh. All I ask is that you check out the score sheets before making an ignorant comment such as that. In our program, we don't cut corners, we work hard.

@emz3mtsyb Yes microphones were present on the field, and it is hard to distinguish amplified sound on a video recording, but video does show people, and if you watch there are 5 people with mics, a clarinet/sax player and 4 flutes. watch carefully, they only turn them on during their solos. I'm sorry to inform you, but if a band only miked their best players, it wouldn't be able to compete with the sound that the majority of state finalist bands produce.

@9penguin9 The purpose of this show was not to win a state marching contest. It was to provide a fun, energetic performance for an audience to enjoy. No one can argue that Argyle has done that. It isn't about winning, it's about enjoying what you do and doing it to the best of your ability.
