good lord man. that is the greatest cover of a JMT song i've ever heard. Kudos to the guitarist. bloody hell. and the bassist and drums filled really well during the solo! i love it
Vox AC 15 reissue that's cranked with an Avatar extension cab running to the band's right. As far as effects go, I have a Keeley BD-2 thats on the whole time and a Crybaby Classic for the solo.
Yea, the modded BD-2 has a lot more output and the tone control isn't as spiky as a stock Blues Driver. It's still a bright pedal but it works well with the AC-15 because it's a darker sounding amp. In the video I had the stock Wharfedale in the AC-15 and a Hellatone 30 in the extension cab. The Hellatone 30 is just a broken in Celestion G12H30.
I have the pickups buried behind the low strings and angled slightly higher for the high strings. They're pretty strong magnets and can make your guitar sound like crap if you don't have the height adjusted correctly. As for the finish on the guitar, I used a sanding block and lots of elbow grease to take off the top coat which took a lot longer than I expected lol.
wow that low but again they are texas pups. lol and yeah it would take a while with the polyutherane or w/e finish they use. any particular sanding block? and i might consider sanding mine down so is there anything i might need to know like when to actually stop or something?
Try going to a hardware store and look for a product that looks like a piece of dried coral, I can't remember the name right now but use that to sand it down until you think it looks cool lol. I just put a set of the Fender 57/62 pickups in it and it sounds phenomenal. The Texas Specials don't have the frequency range that the lower output pickups do. There's no better way to find your own sound than fucking around with your favorite guitar!!
thanks but i've decided not to sand it. i've sanded some parts under the pickguard and the the colour of the alder wasn't as dark as i was hoping, it wasn't even as dark as yours, it actually looked like maple. and whenever i tried to just take the finish off the paint went off as well. ohh well, i guess i'll just settle for a tortoise shell pickguard and fat '50's pups. thanks anyway
i was learning this song to play in my trio band and decided to see some bands covering it, i like yours, it's consistent but you need to work the solo, and sing higher the "good love is on the way" part, besides that, it's pretty good
this guy can´t sing

Holy fucking Kudos to the lead guitarist, but that was a great perormance. Minus the chorus vocals being lower, but who can blame you.
Amazing performance, band and all.
by far the best JMT TRY cover i have seen on youtube.

what yr is the strat?
philphie 3 years ago
It's an '07 mexican strat that I sanded down and dropped texas specials into
derektrucksfan 3 years ago
how high do you have your pickups? sounds great must of been pretty hard to sand down the kind of finish they use on the mexicans how'd you do it?
