I was 12 and my father loved horse racing. I would go with him occasionally. And I went this day. I never to this day have attended another horse race in person. I have not been able to do it. This day devastated me at 12. Their was more then 1 breakdown that day. I just coudnt watch it anymore. Seeing that horse with a broke leg still run had me crying so hard. Was tragic
:-( does anyone have the footage of Go For Wand reaching the finish line on her own? I only see footage of her breaking down :-((( For all her bravery and fighting through all that pain, I really hope to see her crossing the line, finally completing the race that she sadly lost her life to.

@horseA123 this is meant to commemorate a wonderful horse thats life was cut short and a man who was injured doing his job, sure we don't all agree with how the system works but that's how it is. I love horses as much as the next person and this video hurts when I watch it but take all your talk to someone who it actually pertains to.

Every sport has its dangers to it and they’re doing thing to make them safer for human & animals. I may like harness racing more the Thoroughbreds but you should go watch some of my harness racing videos to see how great any form of horse racing is despite the dangers that go along with it.

My friend’s uncle races Standardbreds and I’ve seen pictures of them and they aren’t abused they’re treated like royalty like most racehorses are. Just take a drive through the Louisville/Lexington area and look at all the horse farms and the barns looking like castles. There are places out there that allow you to adopt these ex-racers so that they can find a new job. Racehorses enjoy their jobs.

That's where most of them end up.

I would have had her in the Classic against the boys, where he likely would have run a completely different race, coming from 10-15 lengths back that would have been far less stressful than what she had to do in the Distaff against Bayakoa.

She was euthanized right on the track and is buried in the infield at Saratoga Racetrack. It has been said that if Go For Wand had not fallen she probably would have won it; she was in front when she fell and looked strong going into the last 100 yards.

I hate watchin this, but is jus goes to show you how strong hearted race horses are. I own a TB Stallion who raced we use him to breed to our barrel horses. He's from some of the same blood lines Go For Wand is out of.

I hate watchin this, but is jus goes to show you how strong hearted race horses are. I own a TB Stallion who raced we use him to breed to our barrel horses. He's from some of the same blood lines Go For Wand is out of.
