Thank God John Candy came back to the show. Woody just isn't the same without Dr. Tongue to argue with. And how come he doesn't look any older in 1980 as he did in this "1950s" era movie? :-)
When you were 2, I used to sleep over and stay up with my friend just to watch SCTV at midnight. The McKenzie Brothers were signs of BEERS TO COME!!! Years later, I would drink beside Count Floyd at the same bar in Toronto.
Google it. It's West Mifflin, PA, a town by Pittsburgh. I'm from that area. The monkeys eventually attacked Sewickley as well, which is a very nice town as well.
@flapdoodle64 LOL - thanks, and also for your nice response! I always heard "West Midland" for some reason, and never questioned it. Yeah: I'll check out the Facebook page. Cheers!
when i was young, we used to watch the ghoul on channel 50 out of detroit. and there was a guy called ghoulardi out of cleveland, both were a real hoot!!!!!!
No way kids nowadays can get this. You hadda grow up with those cheesy shows, before the internet or even cable TV, and that was all that was on (which would suck by todays standards but luckily we didn't know any better). Between this and Monty Python we were pretty much set. And no offense to the young'uns, but everything WAS better back then, from music to comedy to muscle cars to vinyl and beyond. You're all getting hosed.
Seattle TV had a horror movie host in the 60s very similar to Count Floyd, called "The Count" He would even apologize about the movie not being very scary that week
Thanks so much for these great pieces of history!!! Only one other person in my high school back then knew anything about SCTV. We used to reference Count Floyd all the time and people thought we were nuts. I can't believe that was almost 30 years ago!!!
Floyd did a brief 'Death Motel' teaser earlier in the episode in which he promoted an in-studio appearance by 'Beachcombers' star Bruno Gerussi, and then abruptly corrected himself.
@chalomirof63 it was a popular SCTV Sketch. Andrea played Edna Boil and Dave Thomas played Tex Boil. Edna would always say "come on down to Tex and Edna Boil's Prarie Warehouse and Curios Emporium. Right,Tex?" and Tex would always say "That's right,Edna" it was revealed in one sketch after Tex left her, that Edith Prickley was her cousin.
Yes - I know this. I've been watching SCTV since 1976. If you look at my earliest uploads, there are tons of 'Tex & Edna'. But thanks anyway. Maybe you're referring to the answer I gave to "biohazard" above, as I didn't know what he was talking about.
i thought where you had said "i don't know ehat you're referring to" was under the Tex and Edna Boil comment. i must have read it wrong. sorry chalomiro. Anyway i posted a few messages asking about a couple of bits and i haven't heard from you. I asked about the "George Carlin" standup routine where he did a short bit about "Beets" and "how ya doin" and stuff. after 3 topics he ended it. Hope you can get it.
Yeah, I know what you meant. And maybe I posted my comment under the wrong question. But if look at the timeline of the comments, you'll see the question on Tex & Edna was written after my comment. And if you'd read my profile, I'd appreciate it.
The profile we all have, on the left side of our pages wherein we give some info about ourselves - age, name, etc. - and also write a few relevant things. I inferred you were making a request? Again, please find, and read my profile. It has nothing to do with my uploads.
Thanks for your comment, and I totally agree. This attained cult status it was that hilarious, creative, unique and brilliant. We don't realize how many of us there are out there!

This was great comedy. You can't find stuff like this anymore on TV. Now it's pure garbage. SCTV was pure genius.

Judging from the music and the characters, I think "Death Motel" is a parody of "Manos: Hands of Fate".

'Blood-Sucking Monkeys From West Mifflin, Pennsylvania' ...there is kind of a cult following to this imaginary film...
