Meh. Hard to actually give an opinion in the care of build in this factory, and im not an expert but I dont know why they cant use gloves to insert things like the front bump, wheel arch covers ect. Lexus beats Jag in this sector, for finesse of building there cars, BUT, Lexus will always fall short of beauty and design. And Jags are beautifully made though.
I have nothing against ford, in fact I think it's a great company and you can't really criticise them for any of their work coz they make good solid cars. But, they sorta ruined jaguar before by keeping the old styling and cut on costs a lot. Overall, they gave many the impression that jags are for older guys (i.e retired people). Now with tata owning them, the cars look a lot nicer and are way better, I just hope people realise this coz the new jags appeal to all ages
India just put the "JAG" back in "JAGUAR!!" so good to see this amazing machine!! Ford ruined this company but Indians look serious about it! Good on them!
If anything, Ford helped Jaguar (and all the other companies they sold) a lot. The public doesn't hear about what goes on behind the scenes. They provided tools to those companies they never would have had being how small they are. Ford just didn't get to reap the rewards because they sold them as soon as they really got going.
People have senseless biases toward certain car companies, when the truth is Ford and almost all other companies make good products.
Don't get me wrong, I love certain Ford products like the GT Probe and the Focus, but they make really bad stuff as well.
In recent years, Jaguar is going back to it's old image of beautiful curves and great engines, when in Fords control they were making boxy cars that not enough people wanted.
This car is impeccably unflawed and painstakingly built to perfection complemented with meticulous detail. Clearly, this car will rival its competitors, it car truly epitomises British ingenuity at its finest.
Lets not forget this car was designed under the Ford era, and I'll make it clear it's Ford Europe which makes excellent cars unlike for America who thinks a F-150 pickup truck is good - it aint.
Yes, the F-150 is in many numbers but so is clamidia; the most common of all sexually transmitted diseases. Doesn't mean to say it's any good, they're still both horrid.
I love Jaguars. I had an X-type and it was a good car. It had all wheel drive. It did share the Mercury frame and Volvo C70. The thing Ford did for Jaguar is get rid of those horrible Lucas electronics. It made it a lot more reliable car. Tata owns Jag now and the XF and XFR is the only car they have made. The other two cars are the same. The S-Type was the Lincoln LS frame. I like the S-Type because it looks like a Jag. The new car is beautiful but looks like a Lexus, It drives nice.
@LukeNAESA10 Isn’t TATA taking care of the financial now. Plus I know TATA Group is very big company in India, it will never go bankrupt or anything. Thats good for Jaguar Land Rover too.
Can't see how Ford helped Jaguar... As a matter of fact Ford almost killed it along with RR. The best thing to happen to jag and rr was when Ford sold them both at a loss. Ford makes cheap junk... No matter how they package and marketed it... Let us not forget how they took a Ford contour and made a jag x-type, same damn car!!!
Ford did bring modern quality control and brought together a best team of exterior and interior designers for Jaguar, Aston Martin, and, arguebly, Volvo. Without Ford, Jaguar will be doomed as Saab.
I think it's a good thing Tata bought Jaguar and Land Rover! - They want to keep both brands made, designed and managed in the UK! - Plus keep the brands alive!
@eche73 Don't mean to burst your bubble but my neighbor thinks the new XJ is a disgrace! I agree and disagree. I had an '06 Vanden Plas and love it. The only complaint I have on the 2011 XJ is the rear tail lights. the XJ absolutely needed MORE POWER! and I do agree x-type was cheaply made!
@eche73 dont forget the 1999-2002 jaguar stype was made because ford said " you have 2 cars in your range, you need 4, 1 will be the xtype, as a rebadged mondeo, and the other with be a rebadged lincoln(i.e the stype)" The new jags are fab, like the old ones
@eche73 If Jaguar ever made good cars and sold plenty of them they wouldn't be foreign owned. Bottom line is that BMW and Merc continue to be autonomous and independent. Because they make better cars and made money.
@number1Schumacherfan, It doesnt matter who owns what as long as a car marque can produce exciting and innovative cars then they will sell. Jaguar have raised the bar now with this XJ. BMW and Merc produce good cars but because being German, they lack any real soul. I know ive had 2 x BMW's.
@eche73 easy there, Ford is probably the best made American brand (and they are well made), and were it not for their sharing of techniques in manufacture, the brand would have floundered and died out in the 1990s. So, yes, they made a couple of mingers, but the overall effect of Ford saved the whole brand. And the X308 XJ and XK8/R Designed by Geoff Lawson were masterpieces. And the X-Type was a Mondeo, not really a Contour.
Since Ford owned Jaguar, the reliability of Jaguar improved ALOT. They no longer had Lucas electronics, Ford gave Jaguar a better, more efficient assembly line, rust was no longer a problem. Now that Tata motors owns Jaguar, They have been awarded for their reliability. I have seen the trophy in a few dealerships, and its in their brochures. People just have a bad taste in their mouth from the past. This isnt the 60's anymore
I understand much of that...Ford helped Jaguar a lot and it looks as if Tata has some amazing new product on their hands. And yes, many old rumors die hard..I get all of that. But I have never heard of Jaguar being tops in reliability. Maybe Tata will change that around so they can be at the front of the pack.
