I'm english are police are shit my friends cousin got shot by a squib and it never made the news thumbs up this comment if you think that the countries hide there mistakes which is illegal
I'm all up for protesting. It is a right and can work to achieve things. What exactly is the main goal for occupy wall st and all the others? What exactly do they want to happen? At least with stop the war it was clear!!?
@iNvRG Owning a Mac book is insufficient evidence to truly measure the wealth or status of anyone. The cardboard is necessary for signs, the internet is also essential.
I am so thankful this Occupy crap is out of the main stream media now. Watching endless hours of a movement that makes no sense, destroys local properties(parks), and disrupts the public from their daily lives/jobs was getting tiring. When you have no clear agenda/cause you lose credibility real fast.
@wsucoug091 OWS is scheduled to return to media in a matter of weeks. OWS is also very healthy and alive throughout the country, please do some more research. The agenda is also clear.
What is the purpose of occupy movement? I kinda understand the why, but were there any clear cut solutions these occupiers proposed? What do the occupiers want to achieve? I'm all for peaceful protesting when government appears to be in the wrong, but in the past there always some type of a clear goal.
Clearly, America has become a fascist state. We are all doomed unless something is done- and soon. More people need to protest. Many... many... many more.
@toeshin fyi i was working 40-50 hours per week at the time of this protest. even if i wasnt, "get back to work" is an ignorant thing to say to people who are fighting for the rights the lower middle class, possibly incl. you. you condone police stealing from citizens: that says enough about where you are coming from. civil disobedience makes you uncomfortable. you fear your fellow citizen and look up to oppressive mechanisms in your life. get back to work. dont make a fuss. arbeit macht frei.
Chainsaw!!!!! That was a circular cutting disc/angle grinder! I'm all for protesting, but if you are breaking the law you will get arrested. Stop mouthing off the hard working police and respect them, better still, get back to work and earn an honest living like the majority of us! The $40 you 'lost' was probably your fine, if not, tough! the cost of behaving irresponsibly.
@toeshin A sharp object was used to damage the chain that attached her to her bike. She was arrested for not moving from a public sidewalk which she has the right to stand on. Respect is a mutual relationship. Some people can't find jobs. There is no such thing as an honest living. She clearly said she received a ticket apart from them stealing her $40 dollars like a third world country, and calling her pet names like a porn video. Find less confrontational ways of addressing people.
@FinalOutlawTV You can't use a blunt object to cut something! Yes she does have rights to be on that sidewalk, but if being an obstruction (and awkward) then no. Police do generally have respect (for offenders and criminals - not always! [especially awkward ones!]). Definition of an 'honest living' - earn money by working hard at a job. Can't find a job, you're not looking/trying hard enough!
@toeshin The disturbing thing about the circular cutter is that this could have been avoided in the first place by the NYPD. The lady broke no laws, they could have walked away. Generalizing the police is as wrong as generalizing OWS, so I agree with you. However your argument of "awkwardness" does not stand any serious examination since there is no law stating awkward people are to be arrested. Whether you want to accept it or not, having any job hurts other lives in many indirect ways
@toeshin Whether you simply flip burgers, or outsource dangerous jobs you play a role in other peoples suffering. OWS is one of the only entities I've ever seen actively defend the obscure and unknown. It is the only collective group I know effectively having discourse about evolving our outdated/exploitative human interaction. All those who work deserve respect, but so do the people fighting for a new way. Don't judge OWS the same way some judge police. Look deeper. Think harder.
@FinalOutlawTV People who protest about not having enough money or a job rather than looking for work do not deserve respect. There is no problem in American that needs to be fixed to help people find work. The problem is that people are getting lazy and expect way more than they deserve. If you disagree then you are delusional. Also if I am misunderstand the purpose of this protest, please inform me because the objectives are incredibly unclear.
@footballpwnageperson Unfortunately you are indeed misunderstanding the purpose of this movement. One of the primary issues this movement is protesting is corporate influence on government. The movement is made up of a myriad of issues that all point to two immediate problems, one of the problems is poor governing, and the other problem is corporate bribery or conglomerates lobbying for selfish interests.
@footballpwnageperson This had led to more people suffering than usual. The impoverished aren't the only ones suffering now, and although a few cases may reveal chronic laziness, apathy, or other issues, it is irrational to generalize entire groups of people for those things. OWS is judged unfairly based on a few people who can't articulate themselves or are just looking for trouble.
@footballpwnageperson That is wrong... the same way its wrong to judge an entire police force for the short temper of one cop. We all have to be smarter, and have more control over our emotions to truly understand why people are angry. It is simply lazy to assume that people are complaining for no reason. There are many problems in this country that need to be fixed. In fact, these problems are part of public discourse daily. There are too many problems actually.
@footballpwnageperson Debt, poverty, racism, conflict-lobbying, the absence of living-wages, a shameful pharmaceutical industry, the poisonous chemicals we consume daily in our foods, funding being cut from the DOE, predatory loan lending, criminal military behavior... etc.
@footballpwnageperson I could go on and on about problems in this country... but the objectives are very clear... OWS wants a more honest government, that will always keep the best interest of the people in mind, even if a corporation is waving tons of cash at them. Sadly, at this point our government is making terrible decisions, and mistakes. The constitution has been outright disregarded lately... furthermore, corporations continue ill practices.
@footballpwnageperson Corps like Monsanto, who are not only pushing local farms further into obscurity by monopolizing an industry, but also tamper with nature by genetically modifying seeds. These processes, procedures, and chemicals are killing us all and making us ill. Not to mention the damage giant corps like the one mentioned are making for our economy. The greed and lack of sensitivity/consideration these companies display trickle down to the very poorest of us.
@footballpwnageperson Clearly this isn't a delusion. All the answers to the turmoil this country and world is facing is very easy to find through research and reading.
@footballpwnageperson The media has been lying about this movement since day one. Keep reading, do more research. Go to the places where people suffer and ask them for answers.
@toeshin "Can't find a job, you're not looking/trying hard enough!" -- By your logic, all of the unemployment in the world could be solved if people "looked hard enough," and is caused by laziness, rather than perhaps the current economic climate and the fact that there aren't enough jobs.
I was that woman. What was in my bra was my keys to my bike/home that the cops were trying take out of my hands without my consent. I was arrested for not moving from where I chose to stand because I didn't break any law and they were trying to intimidate and threaten me. They arrested me, destroyed my bike, gave me a traffic ticket for obstructing a pedestrian walkway or something like that, the sargeant kept calling me pet names and then i came home to find $40 dollars stolen out of my purse
I don't know; but I do know at the 4:14 mark; you can see one of the woman's friends clearly take "something" out of the bra of the woman being locked up. And unless you are blind; we all know that "something" was drugs.
I don't understand the video that much; can't hear very well what is going on; but the Police have their own laws; & they can & will lock up everyone if they want to. Today for example; they locked up 700 people protesting on the Brooklyn Bridge. This is not a FREE society.
@Lavinia23Jane I believe what happened was that the police wanted her to move a few inches away from the sidewalk. I'm not sure if she refused or if they rushed her but a man came to her defense as you see in the video. What seems to have happened (and this is from my bad angle of vision) is that they asked for her ID, and instead of giving it to them she chained herself to her bike. I believe they were threatening to take it from her but ultimately I don't really know what happened.
