I took care of a young chipmunk in Sri Lanka. I sometimes let her crawl under my shirt so she could take a nap on my warm tummy :P I peeked through my collar and I saw her tiny eyes closing dreaming about nut/fruit-heaven.

Peanuts are not a good choice to feed a chipmunk, they can swell up in their stomach, or the peanut when in the hole, can get wet and moldy,  which can kill a chipmunk, best to feed them sunflower seeds.

Thedarn234- Are u sure they were chipmunks? And do u have wild chipmunks where u live? If u do it is illegal to sell/own one. U cant sell or own any animal that is native to your area. But your right, that is sad!! Certianly if it realy is chipmunks! Its in their nature to forage for food, live under ground and just b a chipmunk wich it cannot do in captivity!! Plus outdoorsii is right! They do NOT make good pets!!

there was a pet shop near where i live and they were selling chipmunk's for about £10.00 each, but i felt sorry for them there was like 50 in one cage probably 70cmx40cm hight 1m ='(

maiac98- u cant buy a chipmunk as they are illegal to have as pets. And u dont have to "tame" a baby chipmunk either. If u find one in the wild that needs caring for they usually dont even have their eyes open so no need to tame. If u have to tame it then it should b fine in the wild anyway. I am raising one now that my dog brought me lol

@Sassy100Princess You can't really buy them, i woudln't reccommend having one, only reason I did was to rescue it; they aren't really good pets, unless you let them livve in the wild

Our chipmunks love peanuts too. It's amazing how many times they will come back for more and more....... It becomes a game after awhile. Chipmunks rule!

Chipmunk and squirrels belong to the same kind of family more specially a ground squirrel (like a Prairie Dog).

The chipmunk is a bit smaller in size and the tail is small as well. They love to eat a lot thus you get the cute puffy cheeks.
