Cannabis should be legal because it's so beneficial. The prohibition on other drugs/drug-products should end too because the prohibition causes far more harm than the drugs themselves.
What the congressmen is actually saying is that we should legalize and then REGULATE. Ileagal for you to grow but OK for Corps who follow the rules. It does not require regulation. The underground market for mexican marijuana would be eliminated as people could simply grow their OWN! It is a billion dollar industry that wealthy investors are literally licking their chops at. That would bring about a whole host of other issues. Nature should regulate this not man!
@Mr0bjection well, the reason the issue failed in California is because of all the growers there that have established themselves as "compassionate caregivers" point out that they will be put out of business as corporate interests will take over the industry and push out these guys... So, cooprate greed is already affecting how it would / could/ and probably should work...

Don't decriminalize federally. That's what the pharmacies and tobacco companies want...
If it's always federally illegal, at least it's in the hands of the passionate and not the greedy.
