HOW TO: Redye your interior

2-3 thin coats on regular areas is fine, 3-5 on high traffic areas or areas which come in contact with weather seals is good also

How is the result if going from a darker original color to a lighter color? My door panels and plastic interior pieces are gray, and I'd like to dye them to a tan.

Flash time is 3-5 minutes.

When using the SEM low luster clear and dye you should not need to condition leather as this puts a shell on it and hence does not need hydration.

The interior SEM paint on its own has a more glossy look when compared to the factory interior, especially the Lexus. In your video you added the clear coat. Does the clear coat have a more flat finish than just the paint without the clear coat?

@Advancedlites Yes adding the SEM Low Luster clear will dull to a Satin finish on GM cars and trucks it will match to a tee.

Once you've dyed interior plastic/vinyl pieces, can the piece be treated like a normal/untreated piece? I.E. After I've put it back on the car, can I clean it like normal, and put on protectants like Armor all etc...?

Would you suggest using the clear coat on something cushiony if you will such as vinyl knee pads in the car or arm rests? Does the clear coat harden and prevent any expanding or shrinking due to temperature changes in the car? Would you just use it on hard surfaces?

how exactly do the "dye" products for plastics differ from paints that are formulated for plastics?

@cavedaddy48 They are one in the same being the dye has such a high degree of flex agent in it's formulation it has more of a dye quality then a "paint quality and hence called a dye. You can use SEM products on plastics and metal also.

This product will NOT leave any residue etc. That is one of the reasons we offer only SEM products.

Does this paint/dye leave a sticky residue? How does it hold up against constant contact. I wanted to dye my vinyl seats, dash, etc but don't want a sticky residue, chipping, peeling, etc.

Where can you get that SEM Low Luster Clear you mentioned and used? A thing i do to help with this stuff is put the part i'm painting on a lazy susan. you can get them for about 5 bucks at home depot and it makes it super easy to get even coats. great video, thanks!

What can you do for door panels. I need to dye a 6 inch wide strip of carpet as well as vinyl on the panel. What would you suggest?

@IdahoVideo Use a nylon fruit brush to brush the dye in after spraying on.

Use a fruit brush and spray a coat of the dye and then brush it in to prevent it from becoming stiff. This also works the dye into the fabric deeper for a better color appearance.
