  • Direct Democracy Now - Gerlad Celente - Let the People Vote. Canada is Not a Democratic Country. Democracy will only truly be recognized when we as individuals do not surrender our decisions to Corrupt Politicians once every 4 years or so. I chose not to participate in a system where I surrender all of my decisions to 1 person for a 4 year term in Ottawa.

  • check out the bersih march in malaysia, the police is very 'polite' n 'tolerate' haha

  • Nice job in getting these clips out.

  • @alternanick Peter Mansbridge on CBC reported that night that over 40,000 protested. A rough head count based on the actual march, plus the number of buses who came in from around Ontario, gave a minimum estimate of 25,000.

It was likely far more than 25,000, and closer to 40,000 that the CBC noted.

  • Ah I was there with Amnesty. It was a wonderful peaceful march but it was hell on the streets and hell trying to get anywhere around Toronto afterwards (riot police checkpoints, vandalism, etc). However, you're absolutely right that this was the portion which should've been more covered.

  • Good news does not sell newspapers nor increase viewer ratings. News is big business and they look out for their jobs, just like our politicians.

  • YAY! I saw myself! I have my own video of my point of view that looks a lot like this but shitter quality.

  • @TVACdotCA Even if the G20 do nothing, this is still important in order to get our voices heard and seen ... @StupidWindmill should go back home if he/she is too timid to stand up for our rights.

  • Abortion rights? Climate change? You're singing the G20's/NWO's tune like good little lemmings.

  • EXCELLENT!!! What peaceful protest is all about!

  • Que voulez-vous cette version des choses est moins vendeuse pour les médias!

    par SRM

  • its our turn to host it so stop protesting. Why arent you at work, or spending the free time with your family. stop being hippies and face reality, we the freest country in the world, stop complaining

  • USW/United Steelworkers/Metallos at 1:27 and 2:23

  • I don't agree with many of your messages, but I 100% agree with you saying these messages. What an awesome demonstration of freedom of speech! I'm linking this video on my Facebook page! Well done!

  • it is clear, especially during the worst of times, that the general mainstream media would only choose news that is beneficial to themselves. More viewership = more profit. To them, violence and destruction is far more a lucrative venture. So, never mind the conspiracy theories; this is just straight up business sense.

  • G20 & G8 want to form new world order

  • yeah.

    go democracy....

  • you dont have to tell the police were your protesting people protest outside of queens park and the us consulate every day with only park and consulate security present

  • HARPER HARPER !!! you are better than them.. everyone who believe in kyoto or other project like that. i think ur just idiots ! that's Democracy not '' god '' ! demcoracy = hypocrites, assholes, liars and shit ! stop believing to dat

  • pending approval? you consider your self a dissident?

    fuck you

  • Why did City Pulse 24/CTV/CBC/SUN/GLOBE/STAR NOT report on this peaceful march especially when so many moms came out with kids. Surely then THE ECONOMIST who wrote back in January 2010 that:

"Canada's democratic institutions are slowly being diminished and eroded by ruthless tactician...." was right on!

Shame on the "mainstream media"! All over the World these scenes were played and we saw this peaceful beautiful rally that promoted democracy and Women's inalienable Human Rights!

  • Of course nobody saw the real protest on tv. Police agitators and vandals and "Black Bloc" morons love pretending to be protesters and hiding in big crowds so they think they have a security blanket on them when they do stupid stuff and get arrested, ruining it for the real protest.

  • Props for demonstrating peacefully, that's how it should be.

Voices heard, no one hurt, kin-ship amongst protesters and respect from bystanders / authorities.

  • THANK you for showing this side of things too! It's like they focus on the small negative portion to deflect us from the real issues :(

  • I feel bad for these ppl, I didnt see shit about it on TV all i saw was the breaking windows and black bloc type ppl who seemed to have no cause other than trying to be wannabe gangsters, I saw a lot of junkies and losers in their group, ppl who probably arent going far in life or will contribute to society but in the end I doubt anyone is hearing your cries for change and what not, you just gotta go with the flow

  • This was not ignored at all! What are you talking about!? I saw this on tv and in the papers, and heard it on radio!

You protested peacefully, that's great! Don't act like you were ignored though.

  • Well at least they got to protest without vandals giving them a bad name this time, it won't do anything now, but 25,000 people can send a strong message for future waste of money, especially a fake lake!! Canada has TONNES of natural lakes, but harper needs to spend money on a FAKE lake??

Why couldn't they have held this at the UN?? Same thing can get accomplished at a MUCH smaller cost...

  • Just the other day someone asked me why the protests, I wish i seen your block earlier so I would have an answer. Goood job, thank you.

    PS I like Harper..

  • Thank you so much for making this video available. So many people have no idea what people were protesting about. They have this belief that protesters were just there to stir up trouble. Once again the media failed us.

  • Whats sad is the police used force on these harmless people yet let the Black Bloc run amuck destroying windows and cars.

  • it was fucken ignored because the government want us to think protester are all fucken bad. i got a tip that the "black bloc" are actually undercover cops trying to give protester a bad name.

  • Now this is what a protest should be. Good job. I am sick and tired of the idiotic violence, followed by inaccurate complaints of police brutality. Happy to see some people have common sense.

  • Focus was placed in the black bloc, supposed riots, "thugs" and such, as this helps legitimized the police-state tactics used during the Summit, as well as a broader substantiation for an inevitable police-state, or totalitarian rule over citizens. The very fact that people must inform the police of a scheduled protest or, worse off, apply for approval, indicates the successful progression of a liberal society to this most most ill-fated end.

    Resist people.

  • @Synergistik "if it bleeds, it leads" old motto new technology.

  • those damn media are nothing but tricksters

trick us all this time, for what?

    they must be maniacs.

  • I'm incredibly upset that the MSM did not cover the amazing, non-retarded looking Samba "group" or the giant coat-hanger we are supposed to imagine going into a vagina I suppose, and of course, stop genocide in "random TRENDY unknown country here" movements, and that old lady with the sign about some guy named "steven harper". Yeah, this is REAL NEWS that should have been covered. Like, totally.

  • no body likes to hear news about people holding hands and singing.. people rather see cars and windows getting smashed! its the reality!

  • @kTaaang thats y the cops break stuff

  • @kTaaang Our world has so much bad news and people are even running for bad news. They are forgetting civil courage, they are stopping at the interstate and filming a burning bus. There was such a case in Germany, near Hanover, the man even sold his images to the media. That's cruel. I want to hear news about singing people and holding hands instead of fighting. I wish you a nice day, my friend. Peace all over the world!!!!!!

  • @kTaaang Unfortunately, that's so true.

  • Of course the media ignores it because it's a non-story. You never see, "Plane lands safely," with video footage. You see when it doesn't land safely. That's the nature of the news business. Note the word "business."

  • did they not promise more money to maternal health!?

If you want proper reform go into policy, go into politics, go overseas and work on the ground with NGOs. Do you honestly think that bout 7000+ people into the heart of Toronto are going to change anything?

  • @Xgirlfriend13

Actually, yes, I do think that 7000+ people into the heart of Toronto can change the minds (if not hearts) of a deeply misogynist, homophobic government that wants women to revert to their 1950s 'barefoot and pregnant' status. These brave souls are the pillars of our fast-diminishing CANADIAN DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTIONS---and guess what? The Economist says we're sliding down fast with this neanderthal government! Read Jan. issue!

YES, WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD--and you only a dozen!

  • @Xgirlfriend13 One voice at a time. Their journey may be 1000 miles, but it starts with one step, one person, one voice.

  • @Xgirlfriend13 actually, yes.

protests help 1. show governmental bodies the concerns of the people they are representing, and 2. help gain support from those at home, watching the protest.

the civil rights movement, the women's sufferage movement, the fight for gay marriage and the pull out date for canadian troops in Iraq were all started by protests. MLK jr was "just" a protester.

  • Thank you for pointing out the major problem of this weekend's madness. Among the extremists were thousands of legitimate protesters, people who devote their lives to progress and accountable activism. It's shameful how the Canadian media has swept all of the real issues under the rug, and instead focus on the Black Bloc. Canadians in solidarity for a better world, silenced by the deafening cry of aimless anarchists.

  • They weren't ignored! They were put on the cover of the newspapers and comended for protesting peacefully! I will admit that the anarchists ruined it for some of them and shone a very bad light on it but SUCK IT UP! ... stop your bitching!

  • I know this form of protesting isnt very effective but i know this system is messed up and the PTB are cruel people! There are so many things that i wanna fight for and voice out but i'm scared and don't know how i could do anything to make a difference. Well i got up off my ass yesterday and marched downtown in the rain with my fellow citizens to support the cause. And i'm very proud to have done that!

  • If you demonstrate in peace we as a family are with you. We Canadians are not violent...! Anarchists go to hell...

  • 25K (or so) people walked around the city waving placards and banners advocating a dizzying array of positions on a large number of issues. So? What did you possibly expect to accomplish? Why do you think the media was somehow wrong to ignore this fragmented commotion, or give it anything more than a passing mention? How would flashing these one-line oversimplifications of complex issues on the evening news screen for a few seconds each have any impact on the world?

  • wat the media ignored was when 30 000 tamils were bombed in sri lanka and no one gave a shit and these g20 monkeys were eating and talking about how they can get richer while we keep doing all the work.

  • That's so true! You really didn't see any of this at all. Just that same burning cop car and those same violent morons dressed in black. Glad to see some of us still believe in a peaceful route! (even if it doesn't always work)

  • remember, when it comes to the media...

    if it bleeds, it leads.

Its the "protesters" that only come to cause damage and mayhem that make it so people with a real message are ignored

  • The news is competing with entertainment for a televsion spot, and for most people entertainment is equivalent to violence and outrageousness. So what we are watching is not the whole of what is happening just what will get the most attention.

  • ...Wha... I don't get it. Why are they protesting the G20? Its not like they can do anything. (G20 that is)

  • @StupidWindmill There is some truth for sure to what you are saying - the G8 and G20 are elite groups of nations that usurp the power of the more democratic United Nations and deliver little other than pieces of paper and nice photo ops for their leaders. They have failed over and over to deliver on ending poverty in Africa, stopping a recession and joblessness, and have done nothing to address climate change or the BP oil spill crisis. It's true - the G20 can't really do anything...

  • @TVACdotCA The sad truth is that all of these marches and protests are actually arranged by the Illuminati for two reasons. First, it identifies dissidents and disrupters; next, the media then uses the event to show anti-government sentiments that are weakening the security and then shows a need to increase control. The marchers are playing right into the hands of the people they are protesting about.

  • @StupidWindmill The fact that they won't do anything does not confirm your claim that they can't do anything. Of course the putative leaders of some of the most wealthy and powerful nation states on earth at this time, gathered together for policy discussions CAN do something about it. They just have more important things to discuss, like how to keep capitalism on life support, kill off poor people, and make themselves look good while they do it.

  • @StupidWindmill They are also protesting the fact that a billion dollars was spent on this when when there are far more important causes that money could have been put into. It was also just plain forced upon Toronto.

  • @StupidWindmill They keep the ponzi scheme known as fractional reserve banking going and ensure that everyone keeps using the fiat money backed by nothing but the thin air from which is first created. They will continue to print more (they call this "Stimulus") which only serves to devalue the money currently in circulation. Over the last 97 years the real value of the dollar has decreased by 97%. All fiat money eventually ALWAYS returns to its true value of zero. Get REAL gold and silver.

  • the giant clothes hanger was ingenious. good video.

  • i believe we have to look at what our definition of a protest is. each of us individually. because for most people ( i would say 90 percent) this video does not represent a protest, its a gathering, a festival in opposition to what the talks represent.

  • I think a violent protest is more important to know about then a peaceful one.. had there been no violence, this would have been on the news. Blame the anarchists and the fake asshole rioters for giving the peaceful protesters a bad name and shifting the public eye away from them.

  • it is a shame the media has ignored this !!!! luckily we have the Youtube.

    spread the world, people!!!!

  • I should of known! There was no excuse NOT to include this part, after all look at how many minutes this was!!!

  • The real story is not the peaceful demonstrators, but rather abuses by some police officers who overstepped their legal limits of detention, and illegal search and seizure.

Demand an independent investigation. Only YOU can prevent fascist fires!

  • The media has not ignored this - it has been distracted by the threat of a black bloc styled action. There were at least 12,000 people and maybe upward to 15,000 base on estimates from helicopter images.

CBC has been the most objective media outlet of them all.

  • @morningglorify Peter Mansbridge on CBC said there were 40,000 people protesting peacefully but CBC ran the minority image of the burning cop decoy car (computer had been removed). A head count of the protest and estimates based on number of buses and occupants put the number over 25,000 all told. Always hard to get an accurate number, and the police always underestimate to undermine the impact of peaceful protests.

  • @morningglorify Every time I turned on my news all I heard about was the burning cop cars and tear gas being launched into the crowd. The media only touches subjects of fear. For example: "The toronto 18": A 'suspected' group of terrorists who were mostly just inexperienced campers. The media was all over it: "Terrorists now in Canada!" "The terrorists are here!" etc. I seen it in the Toronto paper for so long. Once they were all acquitted of all charges, the media never touched it.

  • Blame the idiots, who were smashing and burning the city, for the media ignoring the peaceful. I don't doubt that there were many meaningful protests but, unfortunately, their message was lost in all of the violence.

  • Of course they did, because the media is looking for ratings...

    Violence + Drama = Viewers/Ratings

Viewers like the shock factor of violence and drama. it's a change from the monotony of their own existence...

It's a sad state of affairs.

Thank you for posting this video!

  • Unfortunately, this form of protest doesn't seem to be getting results, though.

  • @TheCanuckish this is what I was looking forward to seeing on the news, I think that peaceful protesting is great and i missed out on what people were trying to say.....very sad I think.

  • @TheCanuckish I know this form of protesting isnt very effective but i know this system is messed up and the PTB are cruel people! There are so many things that i wanna fight for and voice out but i'm scared and don't know how i could do anything to make a difference. Well i got up off my ass yesterday and marched downtown in the rain with my fellow citizens to support the cause. And i'm very proud to have done that!

  • Where are the Vuvuzelas?

  • @EndMan7 lol

  • Nicely put together, unlike most of the anti-police videos I've been seeing. Unfortunately, the news is less likely to cover this aspect just as they are unlikely to cover positive news from day to day -- It's not what the mob wants. News has become sensationalism because that's what sells ads for the beleaguered networks. The lowest common denominator is where the money is.

  • I especially like the unseatharper dot ca sign at the 1:12 mark. Who is that CRUSHy man?

  • ♥♥♥ We are working hard to get the word out to Canadians about our Prime Spender Stealin' Harper. ♥ Google: Canadians Rallying to Unseat Stephen Harper ♥ Also we run a website called: unseatHarper dot ca ♥ We raise money via donations from our members, one dollar at a time, to run very expensive unseatHarper ads in national newspapers across Canada informing Canadians about the danger Harper is to our democracy. ♥ Stephen ConHarper: Government of One ♥♥♥
  • Thanks for the share. I've added this to the World United News Blog. Its time to march on the MSM!

  • Do NOT blame the new reporters , They must follow orders given to them by the SALES department that go after CORP sponsors , who want tax cuts and cheap labor ect ! I was told to play LIB , NDP spots at half volume and use negative intonation ! Go see "Who killed canada " on youtube all 8 parts , pass around

  • this is what i wanted to see.

  • CHCH News did cover peaceful protestors and did give them time to voice their concerns, but that was earlier this week. The coverage has probably changed since then.

  • From a technical prespective, if you care, this is really well edited. Thank you for posting this video, and doing this work. I will send the link so more people see it.

  • :):):)

  • "There is no Planet B" guy and "Everything is OK" guy should get together.

  • Thanks for posting this. This is the real Toronto I know and love.

  • haha when main stream media ignored protests against same sex marriage in Ottawa you lefties laughed now its your turn. It's all about control and money. All these social issues are a distraction.

  • I seen a sign that said "there is no planet B" that person is absolutely correct.
