I have this train on my page at all parked up utill july this year when it was moved to back sidings of the yard at shoeburyness M.O.D. It's strange that I have the same train on my page on your tube ?
the CIG units you see here are now owned by Knights Rail who saved them at the very last minuate as they ere due to be scraped and are going for a refurbishment with central locking & Eastleigh b4 returning to the mainline again at some point..
Excellent! My sentiments and comments echo those of Mr Supremo above. If it comes to Brighton when it's restored I hope it makes a stop at Portslade on the way :-)
ps you got a 5 from me coz I don't mind the music lol
Great to see these units back where they belong. Somehow seeing a Cig/Vep hybrid just doesn't seem to matter, the fact that they were all moveable by rail MIGHT just mean that more than 1881 can be saved.Bring on the day when the first one can be powered up again even if for a 5mph trip round the yard.
Great to see 1881 being saved. This was one of my favourites. Back in April 2005 when 73 109 was out with 3481+1398 for the day, all the tanked up cranks were getting haulage on that leaving me to have a nice quiet ride to Alton with 1881. It was superb! Would be great to see it in blue+grey with a 73 one end and a GLV at the other. A visit to Brighton would defintely see me buying a ticket! 4 stars! Would be 5 without the music. You really need to sort your staff out at the studios Mr Mole! :-)
I know 1881 has been scrapped now unfortunately (though its helping the brighton belle), but do you know what's happened to the rest?

they will need them again at some point if and when a few newer trains go in for a major service.
