  • This is funny. I thought we indians were the only ones who got shirty at anyone claiming to be half as good as Sachin. It is good to know the aussies get mad when someone even remotely (apostrophe and all) implies that someone other than warne can turn the ball. Interesting. Only difference is the punctuation. Fun. Before the ANZAC-UK gang bays for my blood. Yup India can neither bat, nor bowl, nor field. Yup we lost 4-0 to England and Australia. Yup we suck. Big time. We can't play tests.

  • Few Aussies getting narky because someone dares to make fun of Shane Warne - he's gone guys - and Swann, Panesar and England's 3rd, 4th and 5th choice spinners would all walk into the current Aussie team :-)

  • the king of spain at his best

  • poorly played, pitched outside leg, didn't really get forward enough. Martyn would have been pissed off how he played it, rather than thinking he got out to the ball of the century.

  • 'lol' 'u' 'fuck'. take that video man! you cunt!

  • ball of the century my arse...

  • i dun get it warnies was a much better bowl! this 1 just hapened to spin for an english man. u no nothing about cricket.... lulz

  • I think there are some jealous Aussies on here. Sure Giles isn't as big as spinner as Warne or Murali but what spinners are? They are in a league of their own. To say that poms can't spin the ball is nonsense. I've seen Giles do this plenty of times over the years. He obviously can't be that bad if he can produce balls like this. Maybe you just can't accept that Giles absolutely decieved Martyn here with a peach of a ball so all you can do is slate him. Sore losers.

  • Hahahahahaha

  • For me its probably the best ball i've seen in this century so far.The expressions on Damien's face were priceless and very pleasant to see a packed house for a test match.Great job!!!

  • ashley giles test bowling average - 40.60

  • better than warne

  • giles needs to learn from shane warne

  • the only good ball ashley bowled in his entire career

  • Probably one of the few decent balls Giles bowled in test cricket--there's no comparison at all with Warne's delivery to Gatting, which turned much more than most spinners. Giles' ball did just a little more than go on with the arm...

  • playing down the wrong line

  • thumbs up if u heard 125/9 at 00:40

  • no way in hell this is ball of the century...

  • @stapleton60ftw Another thicko who can't read.

  • @raggedclown not really you just obviously have no idea about cricket thinking this is the ball of the century...Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath could both shit out a better ball than this..

  • How is that ball of the century? hahaha

  • its a great ball no doubt but exaggeration much. just cause the english rarely spin it more than an inch doesn't mean its the ball of the century

  • @macbook22pro Another thicko who can't read.

  • @raggedclown Shane Warne's ball was much better than that. All this ball did was turn. Warne's dipped, drifted, bamboozled, pitched and spun. Here's the facts mate. An offspinner can't get the same drift as a leggie because there aren't as many revs on the ball. You are a douche.

  • @macbook22pro english have one of the best spinners in Graham Swan and he can turn it more than an inch

  • @mikeyherriott hahaha he gets charity wickets with his arm balls.

  • @macbook22pro U dumb motherfucker. Its Ashley Giles' "ball of the century. Giles' means its HIS ball of the century not THE ball of the century

  • What a ball!

  • People please! Its not 'the ball of the century', its a 'ball of the century'. The ball of the century is the Gatting Ball by shane warne. This is that type of ball, extra spin/bounce taking the top of off stump. This is a great ball by Giles, an under rated spinner,. But nothing/nobody beats Warne (especially Murali)

  • @davidtanner213 Another thicko who can't read.

  • All these fucking retarded inbred Australians need learn what a fucking apostrophe is. To explin to those who didn't go to school and who have a sister and mother who are the same person. The Apostrophe at the end makes it clear that this is the best ball Ashley Giles bowled in the 21st century. ITS HIS BALL OF THE CENTURY. The title makes no claim that its better than other spin bowlers, its just Ashley's best ball.

  • @redman8903 Right, there's only one reason I haven't deleted your post for its use of potty language and racist abuse, which I do not approve of. Because at least you sort of understand the title of the thread, although you haven't quite got it. It's in inverted commas because it's quoting the COMMENTATOR, on the video who in the heat of the moment and half in jest called it "Ashley Giles' ball of the century." There are some stupid people out there.

  • @redman8903

fucking turd, I'd knock your head off your fucking shoulders if you ever spoke to me like that in person, fucking keyboard warrior

  • @redman8903 *EXPLAIN* Learn to spell if you're going to critisise someone else.

  • @redman8903 rangas gon hate. botard

  • @redman8903 Ur the fucken inbred u dumb geezer!!

    wank

  • shane warnes ball is better

  • lol

    u

  • lol

  • Not a ball of the century, but a very good one. Warnes one was called it because it drifted, then dipped and moved right, before snapping back and beating the outside edge of the bat and hitting top off. This one drifted nicely, dipped well and spun well. Great delivery, but Murali, Warne and Swann have delivered much better this century both before and after this delivery.

  • it doesn't become the 'ball of the century' because for once a pom spun the ball.

  • @adi2777 IT DOES TO US (CRYS)

  • @adi2777 I think you like 50% of people leaving comments here need to read the description before commenting...this ball was ( quite rightly ) COMPARED to Warne's "famous ball of the century". There's very little difference between this ball & the one Warne bowled, hence the comparison.

  • @adi2777

    see graeme Swann.

And does it hurt you and your pride that the "poms" were your imperial masters?

  • @greekscavenger Graeme Swann doesn't turn it much though...

And imperial masters? Still living back in the 1800s are we? We may be descendent from convicts but at least we can take some criticsm.

  • @adi2777 Bitter?

  • @adi2777 You are an Idiot. Study the title carefully

  • Crash of ash! I love Richie Benaud!

  • Good ball because it found the batsmens blind spot and spun very little to hit the off stump. But no where near as good as Shane Warne's ball of the century, which had much more spin, and had dip, drift and was bowled from the other side of the pitch which meant it had more turn from the greater angle created.

  • Definately the best ball that Giles has ever bowled. Biggest piece of shit to ever play for england.

  • @aLeXxVd09 More successful than youll ever be so hes done ok twat.

  • @s8tank Thank fuck you aren't a team selector then, jeez we would lose every single match if you think people like Giles actually have talent. i've faced bigger spin from an 8 year old girl.

  • @aLeXxVd09 Every single england player has talent. Seriously your an idiot if you think spins all about how much the ball turns.

  • @s8tank lol you really are a prat.

  • @aLeXxVd09 you obviously know fuck all about cricket, look at ray price, 3rd best ODI bowler in the world and he hardly spins it, he uses flight, variation and clever bowling to get his wickets, why don't you listen to someone trying to explain to you what this is about instead of living in ignorance..... dick head

  • @MrDopey16 I know a lot more than you do, you inferior buffoon. If you believe the rankings are the only thing to prove what a good cricketer is then you know nothing.

Price is better than Giles but he is still a waste of time against any decent batsman. Which is a perfectly good reason why he only plays for a team like Zimbabwe.

  • @aLeXxVd09 the rankings were a good example to use, as they are simple and easy to understand for you as if i am so inferior why is it clear to me that uncontrolled spin is the most frowned upon and easily played slow bowling. price has many good scalps under his name but spins it less than a part timer such as kevin pietersen. i'm saying that control and variation are more important than massive spin. just to be clear, price only plays for zimbabwe because he is zimbabwean, idiot.

  • @MrDopey16 exactly, they're made simple for simple-minded tards like yourself. Yeah but he isn't good enough to be signed as a county cricketer, even the flippin dutch cricketers are signed by counties.

  • @aLeXxVd09 please, don't try and use my insult as your own. ray price has played for worcestshire, just been signed for mumbai indians, has taken a 6 wicket hauls against australia and west indies. he has taken 69 wickets in test matches and 69 in odis, but no, you're right he is terrible and doesnt deserve to even be in the rankings, the dutch players do though. I have shown that you have been extremely ignorant in all your replies, are you too pig headed to admit you're wrong?

  • @MrDopey16 nah i just couldn't be arsed to waste my time researching players which are worse than the ones i face every week in league cricket.

You need to get out more.

  • @aLeXxVd09 'i know alot more than you do, you inferior buffoon' was a bit of a mistake mate, don't use the timeless 'you need to get out more' phrase as a cover for you being a rude, ignorant fuck tard. All it took was a 2 minute look at wiki, if your too lazy to back up your idiotic views with fact, your not gonna get very far in life

  • @MrDopey16 Yeah about actual talent. As i said i come across cricketers who could walk all over these shitty so called 'cricketers' every season, how they get into professional cricket is a complete mystery.

I'm still waiting for the part where you make me feel insulted. So far you aren't doing very well.

  • @aLeXxVd09 not trying to insult you bud, just letting you know that you are wrong. what league do you play in btw, that shitty ray price as you say wouldn't get you out in? not really trying to insult you champ, just hoping you realise how much of an arrogant, idiotic, cunt of a person you are. But if you're not insulted by me proving you wrong everytime i doubt it will make much of a difference.

  • @MrDopey16 I play in Gloucestershire County League Division 1, and i'll be in West of England Premier League next season. I bowl around 80mph (which is faster than those dutch 'cricketers') and i play alongside people who play minor and 2nd XI county cricket. So its pretty high standard and i can tell you that Ray Price doesn't even compare to the spinners i face.

  • @aLeXxVd09 sadly i saw this coming, some guy who pings it down and plays with a few 2nd boys thinks he knows everything, which i've already proven that you don't. the fact is you big up spinners that you face, over an international quality spinner, to make yourself seem like a big dog. if the spinners that you face are so good they should get noticed, like ray price did, and as both of us know, having bowled at international cricketers, we have no chance of getting a wicket, price got 6

  • @MrDopey16 Its easy to get noticed when you live in a 3rd world country whose cricketing nation is so bad they have to resort to picking spinner who can't spin, fast bowlers who can't bowl fast and have fans (you) who think they are actually good.

I'd knock any of those zimbabwean's heads off anyday.

  • @aLeXxVd09 knew it, all this is about is your arrogance because you bowl alright in a quality leauge and you are jealous of the lad getting a cracker of a wicket... as i have already said, price has a 6 for against aus, when they were top of the tables, i would love to see you get 6 wickets against australia now, but it is impossible

  • @MrDopey16 Yeah he has a few 5-fers, but his bowling average in both forms is not exactly impressive. anyway, this was about Ashley Giles, who has a test average of 41 and stopped England progressing because of his part-time spin bowling. Had someone like Swann been picked earlier England could have been dominating years ago.

  • @aLeXxVd09 i totally agree on the fact that swann should have been picked earlier, as he uses flight, guile and drift as well as spinning the ball. however, to say giles is a pile of wank is obnoxious and arrogant, and as it is clear to see from this conversation, all this is really about is you mouthing off and backing yourself to smash giles and price round the park and then skittling through an international quality line-up, ridiculous and naive

  • @MrDopey16 No, it was just about laying down the fact that Giles is waste of space. The rest was just to keep stringing you along. But you're actually really boring. You know how to kill an argument i must say.

  • @aLeXxVd09 yeah, i get fairly bored when i constantly get proven wrong in an argument, at least i have the balls to admit that i'm beaten though. this argument is dead and i have killed it by winning it with rational thought, unlike you, who thought that playing in glouc div 1 made you better then international players and international selectors, silly man

  • @MrDopey16 Yeah, and all is peachy on my side of the pillow.

  • King of Spain

  • nice

  • He is bowling around the wicket shane was bowling over the wicket so average ball...

  • @snehashree25 : Dude, he is bowling over the wicket... Do you even know the basics of cricket??

  • Wow, king of spain

  • this isnt about massive turn. the ball was brilliant because it beat the batsman from outside leg to hit off as a finger spinner! murali and warne are wrist spinners big difference. also this ball is good because of the context of which it was bowled. giles was under pressure for his place i the side and also its the ashes

  • Surely this video uploader doesn't have a knowledge about Spin Bowling.

  • no one can spin it more than murali or warne

  • good ball but it was on the fifth day of a test with some awesome rough! - warne's ball was on the first or second day with no rough - no comparison

  • GREAT DELIVERY

  • Awesomeness of awesomeness......

Giles knocking the Aussies of their feet......

This is what I call ball of the century...

    Clean sweep that Warne...

  • Between him and Paul Harris as the two worst international bowlers of recent times...

Neither could turn a doorknob. Gilo's bowling into some proper rough here.

  • It was a pretty good ball but what about the one when Warne got it to curve around the batsmen, turned about 5 miles.

  • What a shit batsman. That's why Damien left, he was fucking shit.

  • In his whole life he only bowled 1 good ball and their showing it millions of times..lolzz

  • its the ball of the century for giles since he actually managed to turn the ball and take a wicket.. LOL

  • it was so surprising to everyone ( especially martyn )

because its the only time giles has spun a ball in his career

  • What a corker

  • KING OF SPAIN!!!!

  • LOL U

  • It was said of Giles that he found a new ball... one that spun.

  • That might be the only good ball he's ever bowled

  • @undecidedfate1 and you watched on repeat, awesome ;)

  • shane warne has the ball of the century and that was a brilliant ball!

  • Fantastic ball, by what I believe actually is a fantastic bowler, always loved Ashley giles and always will, underrated he was and I believe should have been given more credit and without the misfortunes put unto him could have still been bowling for England as the front line spinner!

  • 284 people are aussies :p

  • PEOPLE, LOOK AT THE FUCKING APOSTROPHE, this is ASHLEY GILE'S best ball ever, i agree it was the best ball i have ever seen him bowl.

  • @redman8903 Read the description mate

  • Richie Benaud said "What a good ball." Nuff said!

  • cricket is shit

  • @steeeism your shit

  • @tomo225100 shit at what? or am i acttually a piece of shit? cricket is my least favourite sport behind bowls and infront of granny orgys

  • this was not the greatest ball but it is a super ball

  • um, Warnie has ball of the century guys...

  • @stix471

um.. warnie's was ball of LAST century?

  • @farmerned6 do you like turtles?

  • Perfect.

  • boycs gets score wrong as usual

  • @cardigan3000 I never realised he said it wrong until i saw your comment and watched it again lol

  • Great delivery, but Shane Warne has done 100s and im English...

  • well it is certainly not the best ball ever because his job was to spin the ball and he did that. for me greatest deliveries have been bowled by the fast bowlers e.g. Glen Mcgrath, Wasim Akram or Waqar Younis. please tell me somebody agrees with me!! because wasim akram used to swing the ball in the air like anything. the 2 deliveries he bowled against us in the 1992 final at the pace was just sensational. keep spinning the ball at slow pace is good but more credit should be given to quicks.

  • It was a brilliant delivery, but can't be compared to Shane Warne's ball to Gatting. Warne was really young, it was his first delivery against England and in England. And it removed the England captain. And it had a turning circle like a Lotus Exige. Also Warne's came near the end of the century, not the beginning

Doesn't stop Giles' delivery from being fantastic though, made Martyn look like a schoolboy

  • bleh!...Nothing in front of the King of Spin..!

  • It's a great delivery, but it doesn't compare to Warne's delivery to Strauss.

  • those who say they would have blocked the ball probably have never held a cricket bat in their life. The ball pitched outside leg stump and the batsman's bat was in line with the ball but it had spun after it pitched and clipped off stump. Reason why you think its not special is because GIles was a journeyman and being a left armer it did not look as good and freakish as Warne's. I wonder how many Aussies disliked this clip?

  • @fungboy3 Any reasonable batsman would try to block it as it almost pitched in line and even if it hadn't spun so much it would have hit middle. Martyn's attempted block wasn't terrible, he didn't perceive the degree of spin imparted or gained in the rough. The delivery was just almost unplayable, credit to Giles. To block it, without getting an edge you'd either need to have correctly estimated the spin or to have such quick, sure feet you get forward enough to negate the spin, like M Clarke

  • @trixwiz7 I am responding the idiots who I guess probably have never played first class cricket at the highest level thinks A) It was a feeble block by Martyn who was once No 1 batsman in the world !. B) They would have blocked it themselves C) It does not deserve a mention just Giles is a journeyman and not a bad boy blonde womaniser named Shane Warne. The only to have blocked that ball was to get to the pitch of it and negate the spin with your feet immediately.

  • @trixwiz7 That ball would have got most people out. As got people harping about Warne 1993 that was in the 20th centure, Giles 2005 is 21st Century.

  • @fungboy3 Yeah I said it would have got most people out. Basically the only way you could have played it would have been to have such exceptional footwork you read the pitch and get forward really quickly, negating the spin. It was brilliant from Giles. But as I also said the 21st Century was only 5 years in, so it's a bit of a long shot calling it Ball of the Century. And the circumstances in which the wicket is taken need to be more amazing, like Warne's. Great delivery nevertheless

  • The batsman's lazy batting made it look even better.

  • Not even comparable to Warne's.

  • Ball of the century. Pffft. Giles is rubbish.

  • Comment removed

  • i would have kept that out

  • It wasn't the greatest ball ever but it was fantastic, and as someday693 said, the people saying its a bad ball are idiots.

  • lucky, that's it really. Giles couldn't hold a candle to Warne

  • ball of the century??? Warney bowled balls like that every test he played in!!

  • Exactly as Benaud says, the reason you can tell that's a great delivery is the way the batsman stands motionless as the ball flies past his defence. Not the wow-factor of Warne's delivery, but just as good.

  • LOL u

  • a left arm, over the wicket, pitching outside leg, it didnt turn nearly as much as it looks.

  • ermmm how is this comparible to warnes ball?? the day an england bowler puts as much spin as warne or murali, ill chop my balls off. this is englands jealous answer to warnes ball of the century.

  • Great ball in a high pressure situation, but nowhere near in the class of Warne to Gatting, or Murali to pretty much anyone, come to that

  • The sweet crash of ash

  • Oh my Jesus. This ball was not good. The batter was just surprised that Giles got one to turn

  • @daza2313 Just proves you know absoloutely fuck all about cricket m8 . Are you Australian by any chance ?

  • @daza2313 It was a great ball, perfectly pitched, dipped turned. Your an idiot.

  • @daza2313 Have to admit I lol'd at this.

    I'm English.

  • wow he got one to turn? lol

but really, that was a quality ball

  • Comment removed

  • fuck the title ... this isnt even the ball of the over ... ..shane warne bowled it from the other way ..i.e. right arm over the wicket n the ball spun like a feet or more .. this ball is nothing compared to warnie's ball of the century ...

  • @UPASHAK Maybe not as good a ball - but different century old chap.... :)

  • Ball of the century?! That wasn't even ball of the over!

Haha kidding... nice one Gilo! Truly the King of Spain!

  • did boycott just say they are 125 for 9 !!

  • @asundareshwar Yes he did!!

  • The title is just a joke. For those of you who don't understand English irony, then here is a good example. Anyway, it was probably Giles' own ball of the century.

  • Well not taking anything away from Ashley Giles,it was a really good ball, but quite frankly "The Ball of the century", no way! I can remember a few gems from the past great spinners such as Qadir, Murali, Saqlain and some other deliveries from Warne that would fare a lot better.

  • Terrific ball but the thing about Warne's delivery was not only how great the delivery was but how it basically defined the whole series. Gatting's reaction says it all.

  • The ball is nothing as compared to Shane Warne's ball to Getting ... a Clown can just make funny, senseless statements.

  • This was a good ball - a great ball, even. But "ball of the century"? Only in a deluded fantasy.

  • Only decent delivery he ever did

  • what a ball

  • Not in the same league as Warne's (and that's from an Englishman) - Still a jaffa though.

  • 252 people are australian

  • 0:40 he says 125-9!

  • Geoff Boycott proved himself to be the biggest dickhead of all time with that comment of Eat your heart out Shane Warne. Shane Warne is the GREATEST spin bowler to every play the game and it was just biased pure drivel from Boycott. Some of the biased bullshit from Boycott in that series should've seen him banned from commentating. It was a great series but sadly ruined by biased English commentators.

  • @SydneyFCPete

And Michael Slater and every other Aussie wasnt biased and has never been biased? Get a grip, sore loser and wave goodbye to those Ashes for the forseeable!

  • @SydneyFCPete

    Sour grapes!

  • @fatpigiam How is sour grapes? I thought it was good for cricket that England were able to regain the Ashes in 2005 althought it hurt as an Australian to see the Ashes lost but it was a fantastic series. I just don't get how biased English commentators are. I have heard people complain our commentators are biased and some of them are, I grant that. But English commentators are woefully biased in most sports with cricket and rugby league being the biggest examples of this.

  • @SydneyFCPete

What a refreshing change an Australian who can express himself without the typical boring barrage of abuse. As an Englishman who lived in Sydney for 20 years I can say you set an example to your countrymen that they can actually engage in debate without losing the plot.

  • thrz nuthing special in the delivery, its just played poorly

  • GO ON GILO!

  • Keep pressing 5

  • GILES IS AMAZING

  • OMG! We all know it's not the ball of the century, it's just british use of irony. It is a good ball but we all know Giles is nothing compared to warne, murali, kumble. So will all you aussies stop getting so wound up over a little joke in the title of the video.

  • its just offensive that its called "ball of the century" when really its just a shitty shot

  • Great effort, the first time he got one to turn wasn't it?

  • Boycs said Australia were 125-9, but they were really 129-5

  • just a shit shot.

  • ball of the century?? my ass! check out Warne bowl to strauss !

  • definitely , giles' ball of the century! dont know why ppl are tagging it to be the best

  • Fucking Saqlain, Warne, Ajmal etc etc bowl one of them near enough every other over !!!!

  • No doubt it is a fantastic ball and deserves a spot in many a highlight reel, but ball of the century? Puh-lease!

  • For those who say its a shit ball, Benaud said it was special. That is all

  • u guys all fail. Warne's delivery was the ball of the 20th century and Giles ball was the ball of the 21st century. Warne bowled that ball in 1993. Duhhhhhhh, dumb much.
