  • I like your videos but could you make one on how to play higher and very low notes on the bassoon I am a beginner and am quickly learning I usually play clarinet but I'm playing bassoon for honor band so please ecspecically the higher notes I'm having trouble with

  • What crook are you using? I just started two days ago and is starting on Zero. Should I start on two like my teacher says, or Zero like my director says. Which do you think would be better?

  • How do u play the concert Bb scale? What notes does it start with Bb3?

  • i just started bassoon a few days ago (i switched from alto sax) and im taking private lessons my bassoon teacher said i need to sit down with a tunner and hold out the notes and keep themin tune because i start on the right one but then the sound drops or raises in pitch and im out of tune do u have any recomendations on how to prevent this?

  • @mckynz7 long tones with a tuner are a charm, I've played oboe for four years. Did that, and I can play my full range in tune all the time.

  • these are very good videos thinks for making these i have been playing bassoon for about 2 months now im in 6th grade intermediate band and i have a problem with changing from a concert C to a Bflat could u make a video for that post a response to let me know

  • I am not sure I understand your question. Are you having trouble moving from a transposing instrument to one pitched in concert C?

  • Thank you for showing the tongue versus air/embouchure articulation. I also appreciate the music inserts showing the notes you are playing!

  • I've been playing bassoon for 8 years, and recently found that I'm very sluggish and get easily worn out in faster passages. I then noticed that I never actually touch the reed when I articulate. I actually just articulate my tongue the separate the flow of air, but don't contact the reed. As a result I've got a sluggish tongue by now, what can I do to fix this? I can't even play 16th notes w/ my tongue :(

  • It is good you discovered your problem with tonguing. You will need to learn new and better habits. Tongue on the reed with the front of the tongue (a bit back from the tip). Move as little of the tongue as possible.

  • Thanks Alot!! im learning new notes when i watch your stuff.. (because i dont know them yet so i have to look at my fingering charts...) (LOL, when you show yourself playing i start playing along xD)

  • hey man thanks for the lessons i am a beggining bassoon player and these have really helped

  • NICE!
