    PARTI ISLAM SEMALAYSIA (PAS)

  • @muiiz1991 According to government statistics, the population of Singapore as of 2009 was 4.99 million, of whom 3.73 million were Singaporean citizens and permanent residents (termed "Singapore Residents"). There were 3.2 million citizens in 2009.Various Chinese linguistic groups formed 74.2% of Singapore's residents, Malays 13.4%, Indians 9.2%, while Eurasians, Arabs and other groups formed 3.2%.

And why don't ask Malaysia the same question?

  • @Kimfatt ape nak buat

  • a question , why singapore has a moon in her flag like muslim countries if according to stastics there are no muslims in singapore?

  • Singapore is 15% muslim, and the crescent moon was added to the flag to reassure the Malay population that Singapore wasn't going communist in the new flag (having only 3 stars, similar to the Malayan communists, or 5 stars, similar to China, would provoke unease).

  • actually, the crescent moon is to signify a young nation rising, while the 5 stars represent our country's values: democracy, justice, equality, prosperity/peace and progress.

it had nothing to do with communism.

  • you're absolutely right, but the origin of the moon and the 5 stars were as described in the initial reply; i.e. having only 3/5 stars without a moon, especially with a red background would be a terrible idea. This was as described by Toh Chin Chye, who was part of the committee to decide on a flag.

  • yeahh..you're right

  • you are being racist...

  • but u don't forgot, U.S. flag also have stars

  • haha..hey the moon is the country's of values... it doesn't simply connected to muslim.how do you sure that singapore has no muslim??

  • it was a wrong thinking , and im not racist :)

  • HOII !! there's muslim in sinagpura ..

  • @uudrakgvens94 Islam is a major religion in Singapore! 15% of Singaporeans are Muslims.

The crescent moon *originated* to represent Singapore's Muslim population and the five stars, the Chinese population.

Statute defines the crescent moon to *symbolise* a rising young nation and the five stars, the values of democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality.

While the moon did come about "like muslim countries", today, we identify more strongly with the symbolism than the origins of the flag.

  • @uudrakgvens94 Islam is a major religion here! 15% of Singaporeans are Muslims.

The crescent moon *originated* to represent the Muslim community and the five stars, the Chinese population.

Statute defines the crescent moon to *symbolise* a rising young nation and the five stars, the values of democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality.

It's true we have a moon "like muslim countries" but today, Singaporeans identify more strongly with the symbolism than the origins of the flag.

  • I impressed with singapore development and strong economy. but I'm not racist person like the other from 'negeri seberang kita' but when Malay will become the 1st singapore president? that's question always haunted me because when we all backtrack to singapore history, Singapore is lead by Malay not chinese because chinese is just immigrants (sorry if my english's not good)

  • point 1) A Malay can and will be president if the people of Singapore decides to one day to ELECT one. Being "there first" does not entitles someone to leadership position in a democratic nation. Point 2) If you go back far enough, everyone are technically immigrants from somewhere else ." Malay" Melaka did not get established till 1400. Even Parameswara "came from" SriVijaya, both names reflects Hindu Influences. Parameswara is in Sanskrit another name for Shiva. Was he Malay? Hindu? Think!

  • I think also Singapore never become a Malaysian state again. If Malaysian politics more tense due to BN government, Maybe Penang be like Singapore become an Independent Republic.

  • meant kicked from Malaysia.

  • well, no one can predict the future. even all european countries now become the united european union, cuz no one can really be a totally 100% independent country in terms of everything. only the border remains, but manpower, resources, defense, monetary, all have been shared in europe.

  • Singapore national language is Malay. But we are multi-cultural and we respect every race and religion as equal. Kami takde NEP or whatever policy to "preserve" the rights of others. If you want it, you achieve it YOURSELF.

  • singapura still guna bahasa melayu dalam lagu

  • tunggu laa M'sia di bwh pemerintahan PAS...insyallah semua rakyat selamat ...

  • whooot? i thought they got an english's national anthem. but i proud of this ;P

  • singapore more better than malaysia

  • happy 44th bday singapore the ndp was gr8 :D

  • Happy 44th Birthday Singapore.

  • I'm a Singaporean. It's ok being a small dot. At least we are doing well. Our first language is English and i think most Singaporean are fine with it. It is also fair to all the races. Singapore is an independent country so why will she reunite with Malaysia again. No offence to anyone, just my personal point of view.

  • @kklie I'm a Malaysian, and I will say that Singapore will never reunite with Malaysia, but remember, Singapore was a Malaysian territory, because of that, we share a lot of similarities. Now, we are separated by that 2-km wide Tebrau strait. We still share the similarities, and thus why should people are arguing about us? It's 42 years now, but Singaporeans are still rising, 'dengan semangat yang baru'. Together we rise, together we acheive success.

  • May Allah Bless Late Hj Yusof Bin Ishak (First President of Singapore) and Singapore.

  • TAKBIR

  • and also to the composer of the song - Zubir Said...

  • love to see Malaysia and Singapore to reunite again.......when????

  • Me too

  • kau pun ckap ingeris.........mustahillah nak tukar sistem pelajaran singapura

  • Aku komen dalam BI pasal bagi Orang Singapura faham.

  • I prefer Sabah and Sarawak achieved Independence.

  • there was a vote in 1961 for them whether to join malaya become malaysia or not, or maybe join indonesia. but then they all decided to join (including singapore), but not brunei.

  • so nice this song more nice than negaraku

  • I agree this is nicer than Negaraku. Why you try to Allah Peliharakan Sultan which is Brunei National Anthem.

  • Comment removed

  • negaraku mase mahathir memerintah dulu lagi teruk bunyi die.............macam nak pecah telinga aku

  • maksud aku ialah kenapa tak cuba ke lagu negeri Brunei. Sedap juga liriknya

  • I <3 Singapura, Malaysia and the Philippines!

The three nations will RISE higher than the west!

  • im malaysian, staying in kuala lumpur,

but used to be in johor bahru, i've experience for singapore's channel on television there,

    singapore is nice,

    respect to singapore!

  • i'm malaysian. singapore national anthem is really very nice. but sadly, many malaysians think singapore national language & anthem is in english (especially those staying in the east, central and northern region). Singapore govt has to do something to correct this misconception to its neighbours, especially Malaysia. (eg. widen and strenghtening the use of Malay in the republic - it's the National Language of Singapore). Don't forget that.

  • its ok. so many world miss perception out there. england & holland is a country, malay is the only people of malaysia, europe consists only white people, iranians are arabs, there is only han people in china, canada is english-only speaking country, sudanese are all muslims, no arabs in israel, america is the name of the country, mexico speak mexican, indonesians are all malay ppl. that's why we have wikipedia & such things for people to learn what is the real thing out there about world facts.

  • I agree that many Singaporean don't speak Malay anymore except Malays in Singapore. Lee Kuan Yew criticising Singaporean don't understand Malay language especially Malays who don't speak Malay. Singapore must wide the usage of Malay language in any form. I hope their education system changed so Malay language is a mandatory language in school lead the Singaporean identity preserved and understanding Majulah Singapura. It will ease to Malaysia so the can live in one tongue language.

  • @zharfantk1990 In a democratic country you can't simply enforce changes like that to people without going through some kind of voting. What language would you think the majority of the population would choose to use??Does mastering Malay language help them compete with the world??

  • THANKS SINGAPORE N I LOVE U ..

  • I ♥ SINGAPORE!!!

  • Thankss I Like it^^

  • what's the point of having a malay national anthem when most singaporeans don't even speak malay?

  • bcos our natives are Orang Asli... sort of Malay ancestors

  • orang asli = original people... malays are actually immigrants from other parts of indonesia (first originate in southern china or formosa, migrated towards the phillipines, and then to other parts of indonesia).. orang asli are the original people/abroginies of the malay peninsula..

  • to zoul830sg, not all of Malays ARE IMMIGRANTS in Malay peninsula, please correct ur words....

  • malay is one of the official language of singapore. canada has 2 official languages (english & french), but their anthem is sung in english only. UK & US officially have no official language (do search more in wikipedia if you dont know about this), but they sing their national anthem in english.

singapore use malay for their national anthem as a respect for their history and the native people of singapore island.

  • Actually, Canada's anthem is sung in French in Quebec...

  • there's an english and french version of Oh Canada and both are official, if not those quebequios would complain :|

  • Too bad Singapore is still a teensy little dot on the map. HA!

  • I like this song..I miss home so much...=(

  • As do i! Am i glad to be flying home soon!

  • Singapore FTW!

  • Although I am a Malaysian, I found that Singapore anthem sounds a lot better than Malaysian. It sounds more original and lively. No offense to Negaraku.

  • Me too.

  • im a singaporean, but i think negaraku sounds nicer...lol

  • Soviet Hymn is way better :P

  • SG ROCKS

  • Too much stress living in Singapore. I want to escape!

  • ??? Wtf are you talking about?

  • Hey, no vulgarities. How can you use such words like that? We are not suppose to disrespect Singapore like that! Should the country face crisis, we must render assistance to the needy.

  • i mean the guy said he have too much stress living in Singapore, then i asked him what nonsense is he saying, thats my point, im not scolding singapore, im scolding that guy

  • I know what vulgar word you are scolding on that guy, saying that he is stressed living in Singapore, but you should not use such words at people. This is insolent. Must learn how to control your temper.

  • i'll trade with you.

  • Even i am a million miles inCanada studying, i always listen to our anthem once a week, reminds me always and forever, i am a SINGAPOREAN!

    GOD BLESS SINGAPORE!

  • One day a Great Malay leader will get back the Singapore, The land of Temasik..

  • SINGAPORE I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH \

  • majulah orang gila

  • I heard that Malaysia is jealous of Singapore in a negative way, so how could Mayalsians even like singapore?

By the time the contract between Singapore and Malaysia is over (water trade), Malaysia may not want to trade Singaporeans water anymore!

  • That is just some petty disagreements with politicians on both sides. In reality, Singapore & Malaysia have very close cultural links that can never be severed. The two nations need one another, nuff said.

  • sg ROX!!!

  • singapore is the best place to visit. i am malaysian. i love malaysia! :)

  • Sometimes you have to visit Singapore to shop and improve the economy just like Singaporeans cross over to Malaysia for holiday and shopping. Exchange of barang barang is good...lol

  • my current standing is

    1. England (God Save The Queen) - I understand that some scots and welsh don't like being associated with this anthem

    2. United States (Star-Spangled Banner)

    3. Indonesia (Indonesia Raya)

but who wouldn't love singaporean anthem.

    I love it.

  • This is the best song ever, for singaporeans it should be...Zubair Said did so much for singapore..even thought he was from Indonasia

  • I am Indonesian. But wow! This is one of the best anthem I have ever heard! I love the melody of this anthem.

  • used to sing this in towner primary school (dont exist nemore) like 12 yrs ago...still remember the words..

  • I had been Singapore for 4 times. Everytime when I hear this anthem at Singapore, my heart becomes excited.....even Singapore is not my own country.....I'm so proud that this song ignites my own country concept - being a Chinese.

  • Singapore is a multi-racial society consisting of Chinese,Malays,Indians and Eurasians.

  • im pure Malaysian but i like this song. nicely composed with good melody. The sound of the orchestra is great too.Well done Singaporean.

    Nice Revolutionary Anthem!!!

  • Very dignified, very meaningful and very moving. Japan needs a national anthem like this one.

  • I can honestly say this anthem brings a tear to my eyes, it's so beautiful...and I'm an American!
