  • Would you mind if I mirrored this PLEASE :) Thank you!

  • Reminds me of the acoustic version of Somewhere over the rainbow. :)

  • Movie=good. Soundtrack=ephemeral. Transcendant.

  • makes me wanna travel

  • everytime i see a plane in a blue sky i will think of chris macandless. Love to you alexander, on the biggest adventure of them all. x

  • That good!! They had deleted the other video that I selected for my playlist. Thank you for sharing.!!

  • Hopefully, when i get old and about to die, i'll be able to tell my grand children" i went here and there, i did this and that, i meet him and her and them, i ate this and that, and i did what i wanted to do, and i am happy about it and i regret nothing" instead of i graduated from college and spend my life in a spinning chair behind a monitor.

  • I want to be able to play this song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song is going to play at my funeral <3

  • just know Most of the people who are living where he died

saying that he was Realy stupid and just because he Died they did movie about him

     * There are people who living like that for all their life

and He was also stupid Because if he would keep going few KM

he would find bridge crossing the river...

So i know its great movie and touching But still...

  • @ilan134 You're right, however the whole thing isn't about how stupid he was. It's the choice he made. Had the braveness (or stupidity feel free to choose) to broke out, to leave behind society and to try to make his own living the way he wanted.

There are people who live like that for all their life, indeed. But they never knew another ways, like having cars, internet and other comfy stuff. They were born into this situation, learnt how to live in the wild.

  • @Rhiannon9999 MY friend dont confuse free choice with no posibilites.Alexander WILINGFULLY left civilization behind just for the sake of hapiness.there are some people that have no choice but to live "in the wild".But the movie is not about them. Its about those who seek something better than the comforts of a material life.

  • @Pillowhuggerr Actually I think the same as you. In my former comment I replied to @ilan134 comment, where he/she stated that people, who lived in that area, where Chris died, thought he was a total moron. And I reflected to that, as I understand why people who lived there, thought this, BUT the movie/book/Chris life isn't about that. He wanted to find a better way to live, and I respect him for that. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough.

  • the red apple, best scene in the movie "its so organic! " lol :) xxxx

  • Unique lyrics

  • I now feel like silence's a waste...

  • Must have gettin bored alot

  • And the only thing I want to do now is , leave my fck'ng heavy paying job; leave these strangely woven relations behind and venture; venture INTO THE WILD

  • One of the GREATEST songs EVER!!!

  • love these songs before the movie, now i cant hear them the same way

  • @Legosquirrel54 can i asked what changed?

  • @cheyennej1306 what i meant was now i see the scenes where the music played and it makes me a bit sad thats all

  • @cheyennej1306 it just reminds me of scenes from the movie and it makes me kinda sad or well whatever it reminds me of

  • stupid dust

  • "Happiness is only real when shared" totally agree.

  • sigh...love your voice Mr. Vedder....

  • Hit me right in the spot for a little bit more love... =D

  • Replay>Replay>Replay>Replay>Replay>Replay>Replay>Replay>Replay>Replay>Replay>Replay....

  • 13 ppl ate poisonous roots :(

  • This movie makes me cry, He has such an inspiring story! I love it. <3

  • saw this movie yesterday, it was beautiful.

    it's what life's about.

  • You couldn't invent this story. Real life can be more beautiful than fiction.

  • I see that there are 13 dislikes...I can only imagine that they are from the most superficial materialistic people in the world, which I'm sure have their sad existence right here in the ol' US of A.

  • @CampyNeighbor we need 13 condoms and a time machine . . . . .

  • beautiful, the song and film too

  • This isn't original version? It's seems slower or not on the same tone.. But nice video! Thumbs up :)

  • La mia vita è cambiata dopo aver letto Walden, e dopo aver visto Into the wild...

  • I was on bended knee... Then I took an arrow in the knee

  • C'es des chanson comme ça qui quand on les ecoute , nois fais ressentire un terrible sentiment partage par de l'envie et de la tristesse ... Tout simplement magnifique , j'en ai les larmes au yeux

  • why is this version in a different tone?

  • Its funny how people say that a time in their past was the best time. How people seemed less selfish "back then", but are all different today, worse.

I put to you that people have not changed, nor have the times, merely our perceptions of them have changed, from the time we were younger, until now. We percieve more of the world around us as we mature, more than we did when younger, more care-free........

    ........less selfish.

  • Just. Beautiful.

  • @kallvarshow goosebumps man goosebumps.

  • love this movie. check out my cover of this song!

  • jó látni hogy itt magyarországon is terjed az into the wild, nagyon szép, és elgondolkodtató film (: köszi a feltöltést!

  • We are being fooled by life, there is NOTHING OUT THERE that can make us happy, it can only be us and in this moment. I left everything, and everyone, followed and achieved my dreams only to find this was not the answer... And now i'm alone without all the things I used to have that did brought me happiness, but I was a fool to concentrate on the negative and not appreciating what I had. Do it if you must, but at the end of the tunnel you will find yourself, facing yourself again.

  • i believe freedom is easiar to find when your away from society or the life as you know it . far from all the rules and habits , but freedom you wont find by going to a park or to alaska (w/e)

freedom is just mean to do what your soul grave for . since going away from society and humans (eventually) mean the mans find he's inner peace buy starting to do what he want's and not what the society write him to .

i gusse what i mean is FUCK SOCIETY!

  • The irony of an advert for a new smartphone before this video is not lost on me :<

  • What a great song, I have goosebumps right now and I can't stop listening to it.

  • <3

  • Freedom is not something you can find by going to a different place or by leaving everything behind. Freedom is in ourselves. In our minds. You just have to find it, and the only way to find it is to search for freedom in every little thing you have. I have always wanted to do the same as Christopher Mccandless but eventually after lots of thinking, you end at: Freedom is in yourself. I probably feel more free than I ever will be when I'm just laying in the soft fresh grass on a warm spring day

  • Everyone I come across in cages they bought

they think of me and my wandering

but I'm never what they thought

  • Happiness only real when shared

  • By leaving everything, the thing we most want to leave is ourselves, and unfortunately we'll never be able to do it.

  • RIP Chris. I know you and Thoreau are smiling in heaven right now. :)

  • Que gran tema ...

  • Each of us can find happiness in different climates weather in the wild or on a island or desert wherever. but when you live in the city you feel the walls closing in no space no privacy,TRAFFIC JAMS . Life is so rushed where people no longer have the time to smell the roses I understand McCandless going Into the Wild

  • Eleven guys are gays

  • I agree with everybody . it is hard to be free when even simple things you have to deal with bull shitters , liers , just plain keep ya nose on ya own face . no matter how good ya are people gona wanna cause trouble even kill ya . need enough money to buy enough land where ya wanna live and it fits you're life style . problem is time you figure it out ya might be buried .my last best years will be spent getting out of here . sad world it is .

  • It's really the modern day way of thinking that makes me deslike society go to work buy your self nice things that arnt that important get so old that you can barely do any thing and then retire and sit around in old age till you die that's no life to live if you ask me.

  • there isn't anywhere that can bring you peace. You have to find it within yourself and until you do, you will carry the burdons in your heart.

  • love this song

  • poetry

  • Lol, I got this summer shack middle of nowhere. The road is rocky as hell. So I was driving little too fast and there was a sudden crashing noice. I pulled over and noticed my car was leaking oil. I was stuck and it was cold and damp. So I rushed to the shack only to realize that it wasn't any warmer inside as outside. I never was prepared to situation like this. I wasn't dressed properly and didn't have any supplies but a very big bun. Luckily I always have blankets in there so I could...

  • @Testudoization

Luckily I always have blankets in there so it wasn't too cold. I spend that night watching how the moon light a lake. It looked like the whole lake was dancing in the bathe of the light. And I ate hell alot of the bun. The next day I walked to neighbour and I was saved :D. During that night I truly felt free.

  • Beautiful song..

  • so beautiful <3

  • yo conocia las reglas , pero las reglas no me conocian a mi ... garantizado

  • Beautiful.

  • It's the song which give me relax, silence and feeling which let me be lonely for a moment-the moment which i always want when i'm unhappy, sad or angry...

  • Sem dúvida!!!!

  • Its strange how people believe going to a specific place will give them the freedom theyre looking for. I live in Finland and dreaming about leaving everything and go live somewhere else where i can find freedom and inner peace, live in the nature, far from society. And at the same time someone else, somewhere else in the world, is dreaming about going to Finland to find their inner peace and live far from the society. Maybe the only place you can find your freedom and peace is within yourself.

  • @kallvarshow exactly man! you dont need nature and beauty to be happy and peacefull you need yourself. Sure the nature and beauty helps but really its all on how you make it.

  • @kallvarshow Yes, as a soul searcher and someone who has tried to know herself well, I can attest that freedom and peace are states of mind. I also think that they are not permanent, like happiness, it is never permanent, but there are fleeting moments of it.

Ascetics may achieve permanent freedom, peace or happiness in their minds, but most people do not have the luxury to withdraw from life and be supported. ;)

I deem it a far greater challenge to achieve those states in the 'normal' world.

  • @NovaScotiaChick Those are deep words, and make total sense, be proud you know;)

  • @kallvarshow It's the place but it's also the people plus building no emotional tie to the people you meet from knowing them such a short time is a plus. and just altogether getting away from what we are expected to be in society to be free from the grip that the modern day has put on us.

  • @kallvarshow

"Maybe the only place you can find your freedom and peace is within yourself."

Right, i agree. But sometimes its hard for some of us to do that in this society.

  • @EDVM13 yes, absolutely, and thats sad; that the society we've built makes us so incapable of feeling free and independent, that we feel like prisoners even though we can go wherever we want (almost..). Its scary. I am myself one of those people who finds it very hard to find peace and inner freedom living in this society, im not sure i will ever feel free and happy living like this.

  • @kallvarshow

Yes, we are free to go to wherever we want to go, and we are free to do whatever we want. The thing is that society gives "facilities" to the people that follow it's rules, that's sometimes it is pretty hard to be different in this society.

We are not all the same and not all of us can live folowing the same values...

Society wants to tell us what we "should do" and what we "should not do". I think that's pretty sad, but i understand they're just trying to keep things in order..

  • @kallvarshow You are right, so true... Making me cry, idk why:) (ehh 19 years old boy is crying)

  • @kallvarshow Best comment i've ever seen. Ever.

You are so right... I dream of the same things. I would love to go to a place that seems wild to me, like Finland! Maybe we should house swap. You can come here to Massachusetts. :D

  • @Mouseth Hah,maybe we should!Probably just to realize that it doesnt matter that much where u live;that living in an other part of the world won't heal a troubled soul or give inner peace. That u gotta search for that damn peace within yourself, not at some random country that seems wild and free.Im sure it might help going to another place, but in the end i think the key to peace is inside yourself.

But hey, if u ever visit FIN, make sure to go somewhere else than helsinki :D lapland for example!

  • @kallvarshow What is so true about your statement is that a brazilian like myself always thought Finland was just the place to live among nature finding freedom and inner peace. Luck on your search

  • @kallvarshow Hyvin sanottu! :D

  • @uoleppi1 Tietenkin :D eeeei mutta kiitos!

  • @kallvarshow Freedom is in the mind.

  • @kallvarshow

It's not the society it self, but how we have choosen to live in that sociaty that upset us. But I guess the most important thing is to brake all patterns, to get scared; because fear brings all your senses and emotions to life.

  • @kallvarshow agreed. i think this about cities a lot...people pass each other on the highway, one headed to a new city for greener pastures, the other headed to the other's former city for the same reason.

  • @kallvarshow I agree 100%! I'm a Canadian and as Canadians we're constantly leaving our own country to travel and find happiness elsewhere. Meanwhile, we are the second largest country in the world and most haven't experienced what our own country has to offer before leaving. I think Australia is similar. Most Aussies have seen more of Canada than most Canadians and most Canadians have seen more of Australia than most Aussies!

  • @kallvarshow upper peninsula of Michigan

  • @kallvarshow Come to the Canada! I would love to trade you places, but I can't speak Finnish that well! I know how you feel about the inner peace but, I have I have to say, Canada's forest's and fresh water will amaze you when you experience it, I still today am still fascinated, so please do yourself a favor, come and visit. :)

  • @Dnalyr12 i will absolutely come and visit your lovely country one day :) from looking at pics on google (lololol) canada looks stunningly beautiful! A bit like Norway which im totally in love with since driving around there for a week two years ago. One day we climbed up a mountain and we were just sitting there, next to a waterfall, drumming with my fathers shamanic drum and the sound of the drum was echoing between the mountains. One of my coolest experiences ever :)

  • @kallvarshow Sounds exhilarating! You can get much and more here in B.C. on Vancouver Island, where I am! Just wait, your mind will be changed, it will be like looking through a new pair of eyes! (:

  • @kallvarshow come to british columbia! All my best memorys are sitting on the top of bridal falls and playing my guitar :)

  • @dreamsandnightmarez Maybe i will! If you promise to show me some amazing bridal falls to play guitar and shamanic drums at :)

  • @kallvarshow True.. But often if you live in society there's too many distractions to actually find your freedom and peace within yourself. Nobody really knows what peace is anymore, nor true silence. I live in Canada in the city. There have only been a few times where I have experienced true silence and connection with nature. You know it when you feel it and that's when you can truly discover who you are as an individual. That's what people are truly chasing they just don't realize it.

  • @chvick i think youre right. I live in a small town, close to deep forests and the sea, and im often going out in the nature to get away from all those distractions, to listen to myself and just breathe. In the summers im often going with my canoe to a small islet where noone lives or ever visits, except me. Its my favorite place in the whole world because there im all alone with only the nature and my own thoughts to listen to, its a place where i can truly

  • @chvick .......search inside myself and try to figure out who i am.

But even when im going with the canoe to "my" islet, i still dont feel completely free, and i dont know if it is because i know im going back to my life as a part of the society or if it is deeper in my soul. Maybe both?

  • @kallvarshow Really interesting! You're lucky to have that personal sacred spot to go to every year. The sad reality i've come up with in my own life as well is we have to ability to be completely free we just choose not to take it for various reasons. One of those reasons is that society has a grasp on us. It takes a special person and extreme courage to give up all ties to society. Only then can you truly know yourself.. it's nice and healthy to get a taste whenever possible though.

  • @kallvarshow Whether that grasp is the financial aspect holding us in place, family, friends, etc. A lot of times we have strong ties to those important things in our lives and prohibit us from truly letting go of it all like Christopher McCandless was able to do. I still think that he only made that jump because of his family issues that caused him to break away and maybe because of this it was easier for him to do so. Really interesting to talk about this.

  • @chvick it sure is interesting talking about these kind of stuff! And with people from other places in the world with (maybe) different experiences and ways of seeing things.

I think youre absolutely right, every time im thinking about leaving, i get so scared, cause i have no idea what it is to not be a part of the society.I just turned 20, and this far everyone and everything has told me that money is the answer tohappiness. To hear that your whole life makes it feel almost impossible to leave

  • no snakke dansk .

  • I love this song so chillie :D

  • This song always make me take a deep breath and look at the big picture.

  • learning this one today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I read the book, but hearing this song on the movie's soundtrack brought me to tears. Eddie Vedder has such a crazy powerful voice....

  • OMG! The Best Album of the world!!! I never get tired of listenening to it! Lenka

  • the best song in the world!!

  • Uh...one of my favourite movies... I cried my eyes out when I watched it a few months ago :( Beautiful

  • This belongs in the Soundtrack of My Life. It just gets better every time I hear it. Bless.

  • the only thing i know is that this song make me feel sad and in the same time give me lot of hope , i can't understand it's a very weird situation isn't it ???

  • this song is great for when you dont have porn

  • Better than an orgasm

  • how the hell does he do it? its frustrating! every song just reaches the core of your soul and shred you to small pieces, but in a wonderfull way...

eddie vedder is just so much better then all of us mortals!!!

"I knew all the rules but the rules did not know me"

    ...so perfect its frustrating

  • Thankyou so much for putting that together. Sums up my feeling and thoughts perfectly along with the pictures. Life has become to shallow, american idol, jersey shore, etc....

  • I knew all the rules, but the rules did not no me, guaranteed

  • @flekisinga Wise words indeed, and thats what I think too. I'm trying to find my "free spirit" but still got long way to go. I don't have to love society to love some people in it. My problem is that I see people as mass. I just need to learn love myself and other people again.

  • @flekisinga I've had rough times in my life and almost killed myself once. Suicide would have been ultimate form of freedom to me. But now it's all past. At the moment I think I'm having fairly great - no, really great - life. I've got lots of great things going on my life. But at the same time I can't understand other people and modern society. I'm feeling like I'm not same specie as everone else. Thats why I would like to be free. In the end I'm not ready to leave behind all the people I love.

  • This made me cry :'|

  • Beautiful song...

By the way, the world and its inhabitants are not that bad. There's still a lot of beauty and love out there. Also, I think there's better ways to experience life than running off on badly planned and foolhardy trips. All the best to you all.

  • @JonathanBergerStyle yessssssssssss

  • "If ever there was someone to keep me at home... It would be you": che meraviglia! a warm embrace from Italy

  • Somehow this movie/songs from movie go hand in hand

with that Bob Dylan verse from "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" :

"An' though the rules of the road have been lodged

It's only people's games that you got to dodge

And it's alright, Ma, I can make it."

  • Pffff.. I love this film, this song... everything!

  • Ah..you have the complete lyrics up alright... :o)

  • @ the description

...Circles they grow and they swallow people whole

Half their lives they say goodnight to wives they'll never know

A mind full of questions, and a teacher in my soul

    And so it goes...

Don't come closer or I'll have to go.... ;)

    Thank You!

  • 1:44 one of the most exciting moments of the film

  • I don't know about any of you... but I'm HAPPY with my life and the direction it's going. I enjoy where I live and all my loved ones. You don't need to hate life to like this song.............

  • Can I get a thumbs up just to say F**k you!!!!, society?

  • It seems everyone is looking either back or forward. Wishing now to be the past or the future to hurry up.

But we're alive in the now. What's stopping us?

  • This is nothing but the album version half-tone-down. :|

  • real strength is to live with what you have been given and still thrive...its not society thats wrong its how each one of us deals with it individually that makes it what it is...i function in society without agreeing with its rules and i am FREE.....

  • m living in india ...its all crap here...corruption and its web....

  • Check out my vid to learn how to play this song!

  • My Bible for Life ....

How he looks at 1.30 min and 1.42 min amazing i wanne see through his eyes... suck it i will live like that ....

  • @epicperson1803 I saw the movie and i loved it! It really made me think about many things :)

  • Bliss.

  • I live in Finland. You would think that one could find peace in here. Sadly the big world has found us and society is poisoned. 80's people were so different from what we are now; People are so selfish shallow minded beings. I live like 100 feet away from forest and go there sometimes. It's relaxing listen sounds of nature. If I could do what I really want I would leave everything behind. Of course I would turn back at some point. I would just want to be free even a litle moment.

  • @Testudoization I'm currently living in Denmark and i feel the same way sometimes..

  • @Testudoization

I live in Norway. I can't live outside the society, but I love walking in the nature, in the mountains. I get lots of inspiration. I love making stories, and most of them are about people experience the nature -but never alone. Humans should not live alone.

  • @Testudoization you lucky bastard

  • @Testudoization I can understand you so much. But at least you live in a country (an awesome country) where the contact with society has been minimum. You guys don't have all these motorways, huge buildings and factories.

Mind you, I currently live in the UK and it's an awesome country with loads of green and where you can really feel Nature. But living in one of the Scandinavian countries has to be so inspiring.

  • @Testudoization My friend, every day I dream about going back to Finland, and be free from society for some time...

  • @Testudoization Don't say that shit, I was dreaming of running away to Finland from Ireland for those very reasons, I though society would be less poisoned up there?

  • @Testudoization I share the same tought!

  • @Testudoization If there's one comment on YT that's depressed me, it's this one ...

I always thought that I'd settle into my career in the Netherlands somewhere ...

  • @Testudoization Man, I live in Serbia. Here is the same story,(except that I don't have forest near my place). In 80's people here were so happy, friendly and don't give a f about material things. Today, it's totally different. People became so selfish, material and spiritually poor (and they dont think it is problem).I really hate world that we live in today. It's good to know that there are still some people who see what surrounds us and what we become.Greetings!

  • @KikaBandidos

there's more people like you than you think! just have to reach out! ;)

  • @KikaBandidos Man I feel the same about my hometown. Ppl were so different (in a good way) Everything just felt right and now all you see is selfish ppl hurting one another for the name of money. It's a disgrace.

  • @KikaBandidos I am from Canada, and I live in a house with our own forest, and I too feel the need to flee. I live probably near what most of you dream of finding, but I Dream of a Bohemian life too, away from this forest, to be free, is not to have wide open spaces with nothing but your own intuition. What we all search for is the unfamiliar, the pure Essence of life, be concerned with everything but the minutia.

  • @KikaBandidos

Balkan is really a shit place to live. Ja znam. If I ever decide I want to live I will never return to Croatia. I really don't like this place.
