This is the Shhhhhhhhhhit! People be sleeping on The Whispers unlike other groups like the temptations, new edition, They Stuck Together. The Twins Got It Going On
Another fantastic R&B dance track an video from these 5 gentlemen, a funky groove, smooth bass line, and those soul laced, harmonious vocals. It must've been a blast to be them back in the day when this was done, they look like they're having so much fun doing this video, this is 80's R&B, at its finest, from one of the finest R&B groups in music history...
@oneluv72 You know dats right! Leon Sylvers III is "the original" that a whole lot of copies (LA/Babyface, Kashif, etc.) was made from! Lol! I'm not saying they copied him, but he was obviously a big influence on their stuff, tempo and composition-wise. His basslines always git yo head bobbin'. Even the ones he played on the Sylvers records, waaaaaay back in the day :-)
This my cut here. These fellas be banging out some hits.My uncles used to play this on their boom box back in the days and we would dance in the front yard.I always liked the Whispers and my mom bought their album for us to listen to.30 years later I still bang their music. Its amazing my uncles influence me on old school music. Its in my blood.
@djgantman 4 SHO HOMIE.HE SAYN SUM REAL SHIT RITE HERE.WISE GEMS.AND THEY GROOVING WHILE THEY SPITTIN.THE WHISPERS ALWAYS BEEN SORTA LIKE A HIP KINDA GROUP 4 THEIR AGE BRACKETT.OUTTA ALL OF THE OLD SKOOL RNB ACTS.THEY BOUT DA MOST HIP HOP SOUNDIN.BESIDE GEORGE CLINTON,ROGER N ZAPP,RICK JAMES ETC.PEACE CUZ.
Timeless music, nothing better than a good song from the whispers and your day turn out to be a Happy one....MORE FANTASTIC ´80´s music at my channel!!! Take a look....
This was when me and my Q Dog was in heavens bless. I miss him and would love to see him. I wonder how Mr. Hugo Boss is doing. This was the man of my dreams..Mr. R.L. Coleman CPA, Attorney, how are you doing on the East Coast. We use to dance to this record, and then make some mad love. He was the MAN OF MY LIFE I was just to dame not ready to settle down at the time and he was. That's life. Can't go back only forward. But it nice sometimes to think about someone who you really treasured.
@soulchildsacomin i am an 50 year old human.thats why im not want to be unhöflich.but for soul music i have to get in in the mood.right now i dont feel like.is it okay when i write to you when io fell myself sosooo..moody?thank you.
If this ain't one of the dopest songs ever made I don't know what is! This was popular in late 1981 along with Maze's "Running Away", Rick James's "Super Freak" and Junior's "Mama Used to Say". Now if you're an old school head then you would kick this garbage that is released today to the curb!
Don't forget Skyy's "Call Me" and O'Bryan's "The Gigolo" which were both top five hits in late 1981/early 1982. I think "The Gigolo" would've made a cool video if it was released and if it did, it would've been #1 on the charts. The video for "Call Me" was way ahead of its time for 1981 (simular to Brothers Johnsons' "Stomp" and Heatwave's "Gangters of the Groove")
@soulchildsacomin Oh yeah, those first two songs you mentioned definitely fit that category. I never knew why O'Bryan was as underrated as he was but you're right, that would have been a great video. I think that was Skyy's first major hit and they ruled the 80's! But two more songs come to mind in the late 1981 early 1982 era and that was SOS Band's "High Hopes" and Evelyn Champagne King's "Love Come Down". I still rock those joints to this day!
You are so right about Evelyn King's "Love Come Down." It was produced by Kashif (one of my favorite 80s soul producers behind Jimmy Jam/Tery Lewis, Leon Sylvers III, and The System). We all know about that tropical video too. "High Hopes" was very underated and it was produced by Leon Sylver's brother, Ricky (formally of The Sylvers) and was written by Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis (their first charted single under their name). No video though, but it was a top 30 hit in early 1983.
"Check It Out" by Dynasty was one of the greatest soul songs to close 1982 with. I'm trying to see if they made a video for it (it was also Dynasty's last hit single at #39 on the R&B charts). Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie, Prince, and Luther Vandross dominated the R&B charts by the end of 82" Don't forget "Jump To It" by Aretha Franklin and "Dance Floor" by Zapp. "So Fine" by Howard Johnson, "Changes" by Imagination, and "In My System" by The System (other great 1982 closers).
I never knew these cats were twins, I saw them on TV and called one of my friends and told him "Check this sweet ass suit he has on, it changes colors, what kinda material is that?."
Listen up brothers and sistas: To make sure love's on solid ground you've got to break it down. Don't be afraid to rock the boat and if need be tip it over. Thanks for posting Un
WOW....how I love this song AND this video. I am so glad that I was alive to experience this music when it first came out. Because I can immediately tell the difference today between REAL music and PURE GARBAGE!!
SOLAR was and is still all a class itself. The Whispers were very consistent hitmakers during the 1980s. This gem here is such a prime example as the unique chemistry the group and Leon Sylvers III shared.
They be jamming hard. They were very underrrated.
