  • agreed, you have a great "attitude" to guitar but it just sounds a little too heavy. Not a criticism cos I can't play for toffee lol, just an observation and as the great man himself says here, "its the s**t you don't hear that makes it funky!" Check out his "gigging tips" video over there ====>

Good stuff all round though buddy :)

  • I M WATCIN U VERY OFTEN WHEN I M DEPRESSED I WISH U WERE MY COUSIN GREEK FUN OF U AND FUNK

  • the dogs bollox m8

  • Very well done!

  • great sound, great timing - like it very much :D!

The guitar is Fender but what amplifier you are using?

  • To much information : My Arse! Sounds just funky groovy great to me

  • you are the best! these are the best song in the world! W 70's!

  • Excellent!

  • As Nile would put it, you've got too much information in the chords you're playing. Too much 'note'. Ease off on the pressure on the strings because the less information, the stronger the funk is. You have it pretty funky for the verse but too much 'note' in the chorus chords. Chords are Em7, Esus4, Em11 (the So What chord), A13 btw

  • That should be an E7sus4, as opposed to an Esus4

  • could you post any examples of yourself applying what you are saying because that will make more sense?

  • Check out what Nile says in Nile Rodgers Giggin Tips video.

  • @lewybrown maxwell is correct, the third chord is an E-11 voiced in fourths(so what just like he stated) and the last chord is the A13. these chords are exactly what Nile's plays....what you are playing is what has been incorrectly posted and written in tabs. What you are doing is very close though.

  • @lewybrown When the best bassist ever is providing that low register for you, there's no need to ever play the root in a low octave. Trim the chords and it'll be crisp and groovin'.

  • Ok thanks! :-)

  • - I play a E-7 then add A to make the sus4.

-Then Asus2 (it's the beatles hard days night chord)

-D major 7 (i just you a semi tone approach slide)

Do your thing man, i have recently worked out from watching Nile that those chords are not 100% correct but you do what 'you' think sounds good and works with your band.

In the verse you just take off the dynamics and groove. Vocals will stand out more and shine.

  • Hello! Amazing playing my friend. You have the funk! I am playing this song in this year's talent show with my friends. I am playing the guitar, and your video has proved to be extremely helpful. I am baffled at some parts though, and I was hoping you can clarify. I believe your first chord is Em7, then is it a Esus? Followed by Dsus? then is it a Dmajor7? Also, I am trying to do what you did when you were on the "D" by sliding it, can you clarify? Thank you for your assistance, and stay funky!

  • very good, you got the groove.

  • Cool groovin'play!

  • yeeeaah that what I call funky!!!!

  • Awesome !

  • D major 7

  • Very good! What's the last chord please?

  • excellent
