I like the tonality of the silverface the best, and like you said, cleaning up the 'low farty sounds' with a new speaker probably knocked it out of the park,,,I think I may have to hunt for a SF Princeton now! cool comparison , fellas!
Blackface (and silverface in this case) amps aren't really known for awesome drive; they are better at the edge of drive. They were designed to be clean originally.
The tweed and brown amps do better, generally (again not by design).
When you "play the amp" like that you gotta work with it somewhat because again, it's not a Marshall. The right guitar, the right pick, the right picking technique, the right tone settings, etc. Nice vid!
The 75 Princeton has a much warmer sweeter tone. The re-issue sounds okay, but almost sounds like overcompansating highs trying to get that classic Fender chimey, glassy tone. The 64 rips when overdriven, but sounds like it needs some work.
I thought the deluxe was 22 watts, same as the reverb model. imo I think the silverface princeton sounded best as far as tone, glad you cleaned up that farty sound. I bet it sounds great now. The deluxe maybe sounded best though, it's a different tone from the prince but very nice, a little more trelbly and thin sounded compared to the prince though. at least through this mic in this vid. good test.
Woulda been nice to hear what the amps are...the description gets cut off before the end: 1963 brown tolex deluxe amp versus 1975 silver face princeton reverb versus 1964 ???
hey can u give meh lyrics to that or make a video how to play that...i cant rely read notes yeat but show like finger postions and stuff..ill subscribe to u if u do
i have a 64 deluxe vintage and a a 70 twin reverd silverface. and i actually gotta say i like my twin better than my deluxe..it breaks up a lil nicer and has a more rich sound to it.
one good thing about the reissue is just the fact that there is a reissue makes my original (1964) worth so much more! It's probably made of shit parts like all the other reissues (marshall, fender, etc.)
Just wondering what your impression is about the three amps. Also...is that the NEW Princeton reissue and if so how do you feel it holds up against the silver face?
sorry for the late reply, I think the New reissue Princeton is very good and controlled... must be the speaker. I now have a weber replacement in the 1975 Princeton and the sound quality improved by a lot. Less farty sounding on the lows.

Turn down the bass when you turn up the amp.

the deluxe sounded really compressed. I also liked the silverface.
