@theaxman00 - thank you! When you look at my other videos you can see new videos of Knut, he is doing fine although I wish he could live in a more modern and more naturelike enclosure. Thomas death affected the people who knew and loved him a lot more than it affected Knut as Knut was already used to his "Daddy" being away some times, and he did not know what happened...

It is a kind of sucking, quite loud, sounding like a little motor.. :) Usually polar bears do this with their mother, and Knut was first sucking on his keeper's finger, when he was bigger, on his hand. It was very essential to him and gave him comfort. Sometimes still today he is sucking a bit on his own paw, but not very often.

Knut will turn 3 in December. He still has the other keepers he knows well and who care for him devotedly. He also gets lots of toys and food that the visitors hand over to the keepers. But a bigger enclosure and "beary" company would be really good...

That is so hard to say. I think for him it was as if Thomas was on holiday and just did not come back. I don't think he consciously thinks "Where is he?" But he was puzzled in the first days as the visitors were so quiet and he was puzzled by the strong scent of all the flowers at the enclosure.

I just hope he gets along fine with other bears later. He can see other bears on the neighbour enclosure but he needs to learn how to interact with bears, how to defend himself. I hope hormones tell him.

Dear Christina; thanks a million for this amazing video. You're so unique, your soul is as bright and loving as Thomas. He was an incredible sensible man, he looked like Jesus, probably why he had to go. His last months were full of love deeply deposited into Knut who was his joy and reason to continue thru the end regardless of the pain and sorrow showing us all what they felt for each other You deserve an award already. This is absolutely incredible. The music is perfect. Precious Knut and his beloved

Mr. Doerflein were in perfect harmony with each other from the start and it is expressed so beautifully in the last photo especially. The bonding was so strong that surely their being separated had an adverse effect on Mr. Doerflein's health. He is missed by all his fans so much but he will live on in your wonderful Webshots and Youtube entries.

I believe Mr. Doerflein tried to take a vacation in July of 2007 and Knut became so distraught he had to return. Then when Knut became too large in the opinion of the Director, he was separated permanently from having contact with Mr. Doerflein. It was sad as Mr. Doerflein and precious Knut were very closely bonded. Some people think this could have had an adverse effect on Mr. Doerflein's health.

Get real. This animal will NEVER go to the wild. He has never been in the wild and would not survive. He was hand reared from the begining by a human, Thomas Dörflein, who unfortunately passed away yesterday. I'm quite sure, because he has never seen anything else, that he is quite happy where he is. Had he been caught in the wild to treat an illness and sent back, that would be OK. Otherwise, NO. The keepers who are now caring for him ensure he is stimulated and kept busy for his wellbeing.
