It was widely printed in "black and white" that Truganini was the last Tasmanian Aboriginal, which is completely false.

@beano1eye i have a degree in social science and have worked in Aboriginal Affairs for years, try calling an Aboriginal person a "native" and see how they react... its akin to making them sound like a native plant or animal, which is what they were considered to be until the referendum in 1967, when they were finally counted as people in the census and given the right to vote. It was widely printed in "black and white" that Truganini was the last Tasmanian Aboriginal, which is completely false.

She was born in Tasmania (Hobart) of the Palawa tribe. She was on the mainland when Robinson recruited her to work for him, persuading the aborigines to give up their lands to the whites, but later changed her mind when she realized they'd been lying to her all along. Ended up "imprisoned" on the island they send the Aborigines to. And she was the last full-blood Palawa, the others are not "full-blood" but are still considered aborigines.
