  • This is the kind of song you can listen to when you come home in the evening, tired like shit and crawling into your bed to rest in fetal position for a while. Then, after listening to this song, you slowly open your eyes and find that you have gathered enough power to face the again.

I know few songs which have this aspect of comforting you (at least that's it's effect on me), and it really helped me out a few times.

  • @Meriliniel I know lots of sad songs, but they rarely make you feel that much better afterwards. So, thank you very much, Mr. Townsend.

  • This song remembers me some David Gilmour's stuff.

  • This was our wedding slow dance song. Nobody there but my wife and I knew it. It was perfection.

  • genius!... musica sencilla de trasfondos melodicos imposibles y creativos, llenaderos, bajando y subiendo la intensidad, jugando tu imaginacion y la creatividad en tu mente, dime, que piensas.. cuando escuchas esta cancion..

  • 5 people have no ears...

  • such a soothing song and relaxing, thanks for putting it up :D

  • Well, this is beautiful. Fucking beautiful.

  • I just love this man and all the emotional rollercoaster rides through all his work.Just thank the universe for the peace his music bring to me at times.

  • Rush,Devin Townsend , Unexpect

  • @pinoa7x Thank you very much for that.

Never heard of Unexpect before. Been looking for more bands like this since I first discovered Devy.

Will definitely be listening to them.

  • @pinoa7x meh

  • fantastic mellow tune ..wonderful departure from the norm

  • This makes me want to lay motionless in a coma and have a never ending eargasm

  • This is one of those songs that I just turn off all the lights, close my eyes and feel like I'm floating on thin air. Thank you Devin for sharing your genius with the rest of the world! \m/ \m/

  • Beautiful.

  • such beauty

  • Simply put, this is ethereal bliss in musical form.

  • Devin=Amazing. This is beautiful

  • Despised Icon are also from Canada

Canadians should be proud of their scene

  • @theblackpacomurder despised icon are shit though... awkward :\

  • anyone notice the logo in the center looks like the drowning pool emblem?

  • @MassProduceBeats That's DTP.. Devin Townsend Project.. If you look at it carefully enough, you can notice it

  • Between all the confusions of what it is to exist, be a man, parent, rockstar, or whatever else he's been assigned, Dev should be unceasingly proud of himself for saving the mind of many a man.

  • After Justin Beiber, Nickleback and Celine Dion.... I began to give up hope for Canada having really phenominal metal artists...

    ...Then I found Devin Townsend

  • @12thelurker Rush and Devin Townsend are basically the prides of Canada musicianship wise

  • @12thelurker Protest The Hero is From Canada.

  • @12thelurker (old) Cryptopsy, Neuraxis, Mitochondreon, Gorguts...Canada isn't totally hopeless haha. Just gotta look :P

  • 4 people need to be severely educated as to what true musical genius really is.

  • I was suggested thiss band from Opeth, and I like it :D

  • Ki is the reason that I look forward to Ghost more than Deconstruction. I heard Deconstruction and loved it, but Ghost is what I am waiting for.

  • I see a lot of Pink Floyd in it and in some other stuff. Maybe Devin has any kind of either reference or inspiration from that band when he uses to write these chill out songs.

  • 3 people are waaaaaayyyyy too uptight.

  • Since nearly one year, I´m totally addicted to this song! I don´t listen to it once a day. I listen to it ten times in a row to get enough! Oo

    This is simply wonderful!

  • If anything in this Fking World where Diktators and "holy" Priest fuck our Minds and our Bodys is holy. Than it s this song!

  • @KrentorPwnsyou

    what?

  • I just said that this song is damn holy lol :)

  • @KrentorPwnsyou

Ok, that I can agree to!

  • thx

  • So beautiful...

  • 0:00 for free replay anyone? :D

  • @nsmith86uk sure mate ;)thx!

  • @elffish79 Any time. Anything that helps those who are too mind blown to find the replay button is worth while. :D

  • Masterpiece.

  • What's the name of the album? HAVE to buy it!

  • @josteinhaugen

Ki(2009) and its called devin townsend project

    all tracks are amazing!!!

  • The very first metal concert I went to Devin was opening for Symphony X...supporting the Terria album. Very memorable night with Dev shouting "Cleveland is a sausage fest!" Terminal is one of greatest pieces of music i've been fortunate enough to have enjoyed. Canada's best musical legacy...much respect Dev!

  • @canoestothemoon Devin's a goofy fucker. In Kentucky, some guy in the crowd just randomly shouted out, "Balls on ya!!" and Devin shot back with, "Mmmm! Ballsonya, my favorite Italian dish!" xD

  • God damn. This guy can do anything.

  • take me away, to somewhere beautiful... I'm there Devin, you've taken me there

  • I would agree with people saying this song helped them through very hard issues. I recently suffered another of many bouts of depression this year, and this song always calms me and helps me to get through it to the light of the next day. Of course, one way I can relate to Devin is I have a disorder similar to bipolar. As the one artist who can relate to the bite and insanity of the mood swings, that may be one of the reasons he gets through to me so well, besides just his genius!

  • Alot of people don't like this album, but this might be Devin's most important album. A casually listener definitely wouldn't get something as beautiful as this.

  • @CannibalCorpse909 I liked it initially, but not like Terria or his other albums.

Now I just keep coming back to this album more and more. It really is a beautiful album.

  • I've always wonder what would happen if you were tripping on acid and listened to some music like this. I tripped one time and some dumb ass (me) put on Marilyn Manson and slipknot. I thought that if i listened to music that I love it make the experience that much better. (WRONG) But I really think I would personally meet god with this music. Roflcopter!!!

  • @malevolentturd Devin Townsend and Grateful Dead plus acid changed my life dude. Ive always been a Devhead and a Deadhead but i have never heard music more pure than when im like that and music like this is the very meaning of happiness.

  • 3:00 to 4:00 is absolutely amazing

  • I love this kind of songs from him ... they are so calming and make you feel peaceful and snug; it's like after a fucked up day you listen to him and you know that tomorrow the sun will shine. It's healing :)

    Thank you, Mr. Townsend :)

  • This is amazing. I've always love the soft and smooth side of Devin's music. Ki is one of my favorite record by him.

  • anyone know anymore bands like this and deftones? like really chill dark songs. like the song "sextape" off the new deftones album.

  • @barret2378 check out Thomas Giles, its Tommy Rogers freom BTBAM, doing his own thing. It's beautiful.

  • @barret2378 Porcupine Tree

  • @TheOvermaster great band

  • This song is like a warm bed for the ears and the soul! I´m completely addicted to it since months... Simply great!

  • Where can I buy this album? I cant seem to find it any wheres.

  • I just seem to want to listen over and over. First heard it and got chills. Love it.

  • @Mooncorinna his official website is probably your best bet.

  • love DT's chillin' side This has a slightly Pink Floyd feel for me

  • Devin's one of the most interesting musicians I've ever met (Stuttgart 24/06/2010). Very nice guy and still loving all of his music since already 12 years! Hope he'll come back and I can talk with him again. Music is soul is what we all need.!

  • I love this song just as much as the whole album. I love Devin Townsend, no matter if it was SYL, The Devin Townsend Band, Devin Townsend or The Devin Townsend Project: He still creates strong feelings in the listener, which (imo) is the best thing music can do. :)

  • Long drive.. Late night kind of song.. Sometimes this song will come up and just zone me out..

  • Comment removed

  • Devin is not better, or worse than any opinion you can fassion. He is simply a product of emotion, discipline, and perseverance...Please dont get me wrong, I love him too....but just listen----his music speaks for itself---it is not competitive---or absolute. It is a transitory journey, he is sharing with us. Please dont compare it to anything......purity defines its own value.

  • this song helps me cope with my regrets. My mistakes. Townsend, take me away.

  • this song always calms me down when i'm angry or it cheers me up :P

  • even this guy's band logo is a work of genius

  • Can you guys really hear what he sings? I like the music but it really gets annoying how I need to look up the lyrics to be able to understand cause the background music makes his voice unable to hear for me :Ä, he needs to sing more clearly in my opinion

  • @AsianInMyPantz your an idiot, congratulations.

  • @tylerholicus you're another one of those americans who didn't know the correct grammar to "you're " congratulations. learn the correct grammar and then you can come back and call me ignorant things like you always do

  • @AsianInMyPantz lol just enjoy the song dude, also im canadian haha. i just thought it was amusing how u were saying he needs to sing more clearly is all.

  • @AsianInMyPantz just shut up and enjoy the ride! it doesn't matter where people are from. the only difference is in america, assholes that run their mouths are protected by the constitution. not fair, but hey, that's life!

  • @AsianInMyPantz His volcals are mixed exactly as he intended. The song is about a feeling, not an idea. Clear understanding isn't necessary for comprehension.

  • This song reminds me of dying and being stuck in the void between the earth and the afterlife (Had a near- death experience one)

  • @wosko

    Me too.

  • Divine stuff right here!

  • It's a shame it ended.

  • amazing song!

  • I couldn't fall asleep because I had this song stuck in my head, and I desperately needed to listen to it. So here I am, nearly 2AM, listening to this wonderful song.

  • what album is that from?

  • it was 23:07 when i listened to this song...and it instantly reminded me of why i loved the album in the first place. such a relaxing, laidback sound its unreal:)

  • Rob swire's twitter to here.

  • Glad i'm following Rob Swire on twitter now, this is song is the ultimate chill out tune for my plane journey tomorrow morning

  • thanks rob swire for linking this to your facebook this tune is definitely the tune of the day

  • as he waits for the pieces to finally start coming together.....the angst of a turbulent two years starts to dissolve to the beautiful soundtrack that is this song.....this is more than music......this feeds the soul!!......its going to be ok!!.....i know it.!!!......thank you hevy devy!!!

  • I'm going through a lot, and whenever I feel really down all I need to say is: Put on Terminal by Devin Townsend. It's a healer :).

  • It seems like this song is one that many people relate to on some level when going through difficult experiences. I know I'm one of them. Sends a chill down my spine every time.

  • I'm another one. My wife of 10 years, and mother of my daughter kicked me out and took everything we owned and is now with someone who used to be a best friend, and is still a co-worker of mine. This song, Puscifer's Momma Sed and others helped me sort it out.

  • @a7i20ci7y keep your chin up brother.......good times will be around again....it just takes time

  • Right after my longest relationship ended, i was cheated on, this song randomly came up on my mp3 player on a long long walk. then i didnt really listen to Devin all that much aside from Strapping and Ziltoid..this song made me stop where I was, and check the artist...ever since this song has meant a lot to me. On the soundtrack of my life, helped me so much.

  • This song is awesome, just like everything dev does XD

  • Devin is definitely one of those artists that freely transcends a genre and simply creates music to fit the moment.

  • Reminds me of pink floyd, they must of like pink floyds music but didnt try to copy them

  • how is this possible?......but then again it is devin townsend right?.....his bar keeps getting set higher!!!....this song is amazingly beautiful.....this man is amazing....love it!

  • This is probably one of the best songs I've ever heard. Listening to it for the first time a few days ago paralyzed me.

  • this song makes me feel all warm and squishy

  • Beautifull :°°°°°)

  • To be honest this album made me cry this album is just mellow, peaceful, inner emotions. I was mad at the world, and shy to talk to a lot ppl but this song, and ki change it for me.

  • This song was on a constant loop while I was in the hospital last year. I was paralyzed from the neck down due to Gillan-Barre Syndrome. It helped me through three months in the hospital and 6 months of not being able to walk.

  • @Lethkhar2000 That's really inspirational. Thanks for sharing

  • @Lethkhar2000 Glad you made it out.

  • @Lethkhar2000 Awesome dude, not that you had to deal with that, but that you got out the other side.

Similarish, I found his new stuff when I was at the bottom of a *severe* breakdown (bipolar, coincidentally) and Ki just spoke to me, helped me drag myself out of it in a *big* way. So much music by people who are troubled either celebrate it or whine, but his stuff confronts it, explores it and in this case, shows a path out of it. It's honest too, rare.

Yeah, deep man, worked for me tho! ;)

  • @Lethkhar2000 That's why you don't take the Swine Flu Vaccine

  • @NegaFlare This was before the Swine Flu outbreak and the vaccine. I was actually in the hospital for the outbreak. I've never had a flue vaccine nor the flu.

    Sometimes you're just unlucky.

  • @Lethkhar2000 Wow, that is some serious shit. I'm sure Devin would be so happy that his music gave you some comfort.

  • @KarateMastR57 Yeah, I actually got to tell him that after the acoustic show he put on. (You can find it here on Youtube) Had a pretty cool discussion with him about the themes of Ki and different ideas of "paralysis". He's a really nice guy.

  • @Lethkhar2000 respect.

  • @Lethkhar2000 dude! I understand your feelings towards this song! This is healing stuff and hands down one of the most beautifull and important songs for me, i actually believe that this song can heal serious mental illnesses, and i´m not joking!

  • @Lethkhar2000 are you okay?

  • è un viaggio fantastico....

  • best comment. ever. i hate people who do that crap

  • i really like this music, it's fantastic.

  • this is magical

  • This album reminds us about the important things in life. That there's good things. Positive things. Feelings, both happy and sad. Devin is all about feelings. And besides that, he is just a great great musical genious. No one can add up to that.. never.

  • This man is a wizard. An F'ing wizard.

  • he's so great ... love his music

    Kiss from Bruges (Belgium:))

  • This song has to be the most chilling song I've ever heard in my life, it's beautiful.

  • Devin townsend is amazing thats why he is my idol

  • i prefer ki to addicted. ki is deeper. addicted is jsut plain straight forward (witch was the objective)

but im already tired of it. ki can i listen over and over again even tho it was like 5 months since that album came out.

im really looking forward to Deconstruction and Ghost. but i hope u dont make ghost a ambient album. continue doing this kind of music! its great!

  • devins quieter stuff is well nice he should do more

  • wow

I expected something more like strapping young lad

    this sounds pretty good though

  • You really have no idea how hypocritical that sounded, do you?

Devin Townsend is indeed a brilliant artist, though.

  • Get to see him in January with BTBAM. :D

  • i wana go to that too but its on a school night :/ plus they are like 5 other concerts i want to go to in jan.

  • February here! Can't wait!

  • Definitely my favorite of Ki album

  • totally obsessed with the feeling i get from listening to devin townsend

  • this song is great, just play it on your Ipod and watch the sun go down over the mountains, or the ocean.

    so relaxing.

    thanks devin.

    you helped my life.

  • This song just rules...'nuff said

  • Devin's music pulled me out of heavy depression!

His music somehow alwaise inspires me and give much optimism! It teleports me to another worlds!! Expands my...spirit. THANK YOU,Devin!

    YOU ARE MUSICIAN SAINT!!!

  • I'll put it plain and simple....If you don't like it, don't listen to it..IT'S THAT EASY....Some of you guys really need to get laid!!!

  • I can't believe all the newfags on this....

  • paideianow is just a retarded faggot

  • Then why you don't reply directly to me? Faggot.

  • shut up you fucking faggot bastard

  • you're the scum, Devin is the best! Listen to this great music (even you're so retard that you probably don't understand anything about it)

  • Who's talking about Devin? Given your utterly restricted vocabulary, I can only say: you're the faggot.

  • I could say exactly the same thing about you...

  • @madeiniron90

    Devin isn't a filthy homophobe bastard, that's what he isn't :]

  • this song alone is worth buying the whole album...

  • Soothing 8)

  • Love this song... just makes me relax, even when it feels like the world is crumbling around me... makes me feel "home"... makes me dream... makes me hope...

  • It's great how much Devin is willing and able to branch out in his music, and how it always still feels like him at the same time.

  • Devin Townsend is truly a musician in every definition of the word. Though he's rooted strongly in heavy metal, he's not afraid to explore all other areas of music. Not only that, but he does it RIGHT. His music never sounds pretentious or forced, because, imo, Devin Townsend is one of those people who truly loves music. I guess that's why this guy is my favorite artist.

  • @Scar231 Love it -- he was smart enough to not get pulled, by the music industry, into an impure musical direction -- impure being what they want him to write, not what flows through him and the cells of his body. He's stayed true to his musical soul, and we have all been duly rewarded.

  • I love Ki.. the mood of the album fits so well to me usually.. And the solo here is great.

  • ki is not terria!

  • very nice, this is the first time ive heard this kind of sound from devin, i like the more heavier stuff but this is ace x

  • devin is the most under rated musician i can think of, the guy is a pure genius and totally unique. and this song is just so full of atmosphere. his music makes you feel emotions and that's whats its about to me

  • One of the most AMAZING clean tones I have heard in my life.

  • oh yeah ? listen to "This will destroy you" they got the real clean sounds :D

  • Ki is such a amazing album. i love to cycle through the countryside listening to it

  • crushing...

  • Devin is a fucking god of music, you can´ t copy him, devin can make the most cheesy song to a masterpiece! what he has done to metal and music in general is beyond belief! from Infinity to Terria, from ocean machine to ziltoid, from AE to synchestra and from SYL to this? what a cataloge man, and there are even more!

  • Just list to it more often... it will grow on you, I promise you that.

I've followed Dev from the release of City and basically if something of his is bitter in my mouth, I give it a good go for a little while and then it pops into your head, you get where he was comin from and then it's like the best thing ever. I HATED Infinity...but I dig it so much now. It's weird. Same with this album...didn't think it was much...then I listened to it more often and wow, it's chilling and ethereal.

  • this means its pure genius u listen to...
