Do you also know where those nice animated bars are that appear in Windows 7 setup? Those bars at “System registry is being updated” or “Setup is checking your video performance”? They are not in bootres unfortunately :(
If YOU START READING THIS YOU WON'T STOP...COPY AND PASTE THIS TO NINE PEOPLES STATUS'S IN THE NEXT 20 MINUTES YOU WILL GET KISSED AND OR ASKED OUT BY YOUR CRUSH TOMORROW! AND IF YOU BREAK THIS CHAIN YOU WILL HAVE BAD LUCK FOR THE NEXT SEVEN YEARS , AND WILL BE HAUNTED BY A LITTLE DEAD GIRL THAT BROKE THIS CHAIN SEVEN YEARS AGO. THIS IS SO SCARY CAUSE IT
You are correct sir, GIF can only hold 256 colors in there palette. The video above was created by taking each frame out of the full BMP image and creating an AVI. I wrote the program to do that. The AVI is 12 MB uncompressed. I will see about posting a link to the original AVI created from the images or at least the application do take the image and convert it to a AVI.
It would be possible to change the animation, What I do not know if any security integrity checks exist to verify that the file it is contained in is the original file and has not changed. Aside from doing that, its just a matter of reversing the process I used to extract it.
thumbs up if your watching this on windows 95

Could I somehow convert this file so I can use it in Windows XP?

DLL can also be extracted directly by 7-zip
Just locate the dll
rightclick on it
rollover on 7-zip
select extract files
choose folder
hit extract
It will extract the 200x21000 file
Enjoy...
the bootres.dll file is in "system32" not in "system"

It's just a GIF. Should be able to find it on Google. I don't have to bother because I have Windows7.
zMinybuddiez 2 years ago
you kidding? GIFs can't do that many colors! Go ahead. TRY to find it on Google. I dare you.

think there is a way to create a program that will take frames of a animation and replace the windows 7 boot animation with a custom animation?

remembers to the PS2 menu animation
NexXxus86 2 years ago
nice but... how?
neoceluloide 2 years ago
Magic
Or
1.) Find the binary file with the compressed archive as a resource
2.) Determine the format of the compressed archive
3.) Decompress the archive
4.) Determine the file with Image and the Type of Image
5.) Extract the Single PNG image containing all the frames as one image
6.) Write a Program that takes the PNG image and copies one section at a time from it to an AVI
Total Time to complete the above, about 4 hours. If you want more details, just ask.
0SL2 2 years ago
thanks, i will try to change this animation, or just for fun :)
neoceluloide 2 years ago
I'd like more details. Or the PNG image itself. :p
