You can drowned in them I almost did 2 days ago...I forgot my life vest. and once I got tired the only thing that wanted to float was my feet...It felt like I had weight on my chest and hands and life jackets tied to my feet....I held onto my kayak for 30 minutes until 2 guys jumped in and rescued me. Once they got me to shallow water..I would say 2 feet I was still too weak to push my feet to the bottom...the most scared I have ever been in my life
TRUE! If you consult an expert in physics he will tell you that a wader full of water is not a dead weight pulling you down.Of course a pool is not a frozen river but we were trying to show that you can swim with it without a problem.Urban legends are very strong, but we really did what we showed .We are not repeating something we were told like we believe you are.We show facts ,you don´t.And If you knew several fishing guides who drowned I recommend you change your sport and guides to avoid you
FALSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YouCAN drown, and people often DO DROWN wearing waders IN RIVERS, NOT IN SWIMMING POOLS!! I know FISHING GUIDES who have drowned. It's the combo of swift cold waters entering your waders and dragging you down, plus the added weight simply makes you exhausted trying to keep your head above water. Your heavy, cold, tired, being wisked down stream--All ingredients for a death.
Congratulations mythbusters, your busted myth has just been busted!

Water weighs exactly as much as water.
It weighs a bit more than air, so I would not suggest attempting to run in waders full of water, as you might trip and put a hole in them.
Of course you can drown while wearing waders. Wearing waders will not save you from drowning. But they will not be the cause of a drowning.
People drown for all sorts of reasons, but waders are not one of them.
