saw the space ritual version of this band (early 70's). It is too bad there are no captured moments of Captain Lockeed. Bob Calvert & Hawkwind, what a great fuckin lp, great story. It can be had on cd, but liner notes on vinyl version are great. I miss those days, but, at 65 I miss a lotta days...Still Bangin'..no music.......no life
I like motorhead. I knew that lemmy was kicked out of the band but I finally decided to take the plunge and realised that I know alot more hawkwind songs that I realise.
Hawkwind - The Psychedelic Warlords, stoned out of your mind going to Lions Head in Carbon Canyon, now those were the days. Freaked out of our minds telling stories of an escaped crazy guy with a hook for a hand. The story was about a guy and a girl making it out in a deserted place late at night when they heard on the raido to be on the lookout for him, when they got home a bloody hook was on the door handle of the guys car on the passenger side. Great stuff!!!!!
sounds ok to me ! great thing about HAWKWIND you never really know what your going to get till it happens, must have 6 different versions of this track !
Thanks Steelwizard. I have a Siver Surfer tattoo. I don't know Lord Baltimore, just Lord Sutch. Since the CRTC banned Money For Nothing last week in Canada, we need more Hawkwind ASAP. With or without Lemmy.
Harkwind is the dogs Bollucks. The most hard working band on planet Earth.
Some filthy Bastards stole there equipment after a gig...when they let the public use it at a festival. Then they retired. What a shame on us all. Those thieves should have their balls cut off.
@chutoi26 There is still a very active market for vinyl as there are a lot of people who collect it for various reasons. Auctioning it somewhere like eBay wil probably get you the best price.
yeahh man who cares about the quality of this version/uploaD it is HAWKWIND therefore fuckin awesomely amazing and THE BEST most influential band ever ( john lydon is quoted as saying the pistols would have never been if it wasnt for BRAINSTORM.... ALWAYS AND FOREVER HAWKWIND OLD SCHOOL RULE!!!!
I saw this band live playing the space ritual set in the 70's. The live version is light years better than this ( I think there is a problem with the download)
This band made heavy metal groups like Black Sabouth and such seem tame by camparison without the satanic crap
Not exactly my cup of tea at the time but fantastic live. and they have outlived some awesome bands.new age hippies are raving about a band that was considered "naff" at that time Which says something about the bands longevity
@Wayevy6302 uhhhhhhhhhh... dude, I'm a musician. How does this space shit wipe the floor with Metallica? This is just space drone, a dirge with synths and the reverb cranked to 11. When you're riding the acid horse, anything sounds good. Take away the tripping, you've got nada.
@79hyperwave This is great shit for people who do acid and for people who don't do acid. Hawkwind has a very passionate fan base, and a high percentage of the fans don't do acid every time they listen to Hawkwind. They were an extremely original and creative band.
Hawkwind, Brainstorm: Wasting Precious Time, Many have gone since I first contacted you, more also. You Know Why Hawkwind, Matthew Ch 18 vs 19, 20. Ch. 16 vs 27, Ch 18 vs 11, Ch. 21 vs 13.
I saw Hawkwind several times in the 70s and loved them, my tastes then changed I love music but got into other bands I have now come a full circle and thought of them today just been listening with excitement they were way ahead of their time they are magnificent!!!!!!!! I am going out to buy me 'Space Ritual' and 'In search of space' again (lost the originals).
Why all the hate? This is music, it takes you somewhere it allows transcendence - enjoy and learn from it - never mind the quality feel the breadth. All this mindless bickering is just ignorance - so learn, don't be so fearful, for crying out loud!
Jesus!.........Chill people, Like this........but think its Nik Turner and Space Ritual ie; the real Hawkwind from a recent recording. Anyway now you can go back to killing each other by barbed comments. Peace.
Oh the old hippie days of inappropriate attitude, no boundaries, no money, too stoned. Went on for so long. Too much drink, fake friends, violence. is all so sterile now. House, kids, job, car, annual holiday, but thank fuck for youtube. I can live my life through this little screen now! Ah! Much easier than reality.
@liamardo007 And yet as someone who grew up in the post-hippy, punk era, I miss the violence, fakeness, too many drugs and drinks. I want my thugs and drugs back!
yep! go fuckin mental! my brakes are off..! that drummer man.. what a fuckin beat keeper! my all time favourite, that thumpin beat hittin me in the chest and makin it hard to breathe,, remember them days lol¿!?!??!!?! er.. yes lol i think so!
Interesting. Sounds like someone set a boom box in the bottom of a 200-gallon steel drum, cranked the volume to 11, hit the Play button, and then put the lid back on and recorded the resulting cacophony through the drain plug using a straw and a tin funnel for an "microphone." And yet Hawkwind still sounds great! NIce job!
Sounds like a a divise called the Meletron a bit. Moody Blues , Steve Miller on early albums,Roxy Music, Mike Oldfield, used it. Led Zep used on on No Quater. Has an unusal almost orchestra sound depending how its played.Has tapes build into it i think as well.
Also i guess they used the standard Hammond organ like Deep Purple.
The piss-poor sound quality actually enhances the song, it's like a smeared fingerprint of some half-forgotten dream fragment (if that makes any sense).
been a hawkwindite for many years(toomany to mention)not good quality but the fact that it is hawkwind makes up for that.signed in on my sons name not mine.
I had a copy of this LP back in the 70s,, the audio has reproduced about as muddy as I remember it. Sonic Attack and Orgone Accumulator were the only cuts that didn't have the "Mic in a barrel" type of sound to them. I swapped it to a buddy for his copy of Zappa's "We are only in it for the Money" I think I got the better deal even though Space Ritual was a double disk set
When i was 12 years old, I met a hippie who lived in a Tee Pee at a farm in South Wales called 'Hawk moon'!! Must have been 1978-79. He told me off for tearing the grass i was sitting on! What a crank!
I love Hawkwind, and I think the audio quality on this track is much better than some old live recordings I've heard. I'd rather enjoy the music than read the idiotic comments.

But higher quality for good music is always better. If ones mind is going to fill in ALL the gaps, why not just make all the music yourself and forget listening at all?
@OmnisOrtus Ha! You don't know how to use "you're and your" :-p Still with better than average taste in music for someone making such an error of mere grammar, though.
