@TheSk8Life101 lol i know right, friggin asshole this is just test footage.i have no idea why there's always that one loser per 50 people who does that.definitely when test footages are super useful
The video shows a lot about the image quality; but I have a little question; How do you import the files on a computer? Firewire? Or USB? I don't have a firewire port -_-
that's a very nice quality camera. The information is not quite clear when I look at specifications to buy it. Could you tell me if it records to a tape or some card that can be taken out and plugged into the computer (and if so, which card). Also, could you tell me what format it records in? Thanks a lot.
@FixedLensProductions you need a firewire IEEE 1394 cable to capture it in an editing program. The cable doesn't come with the camera. getting the footage on your computer depends on what editing program you have. you can just google search and it will most likely tell you exactly how to do it.
whose to say what a new filmmaker should purchase. The hv40 is an awesome camera that you can grow into especially if you are trying to get into videography as a hobby or profession. 24p at such a great price and hd. I'd say its a great buy for a beginner.
I just bought my camera yesterday and was playing with the manual focus but I could not get it to focus in and out in the back like u did here. How do u do that on this camera? I played around with the focus dial and made sure it was on P, MF was on to. Any help would be appreciated?
I'm assuming your talking about the depth of field? I got it to do that by being pretty close to the object that was in frame then just playing around with the focus. I hope that helps.
Cool video man. Great job with the focusing, showcasing different colors/lighting, and of course the editing was great. Glad to see what this camera can do.
an hd 3 chip is usually a lot more than 1k. The best standard definition 3ccd i know of is the sony vx1000 or vx2000. They are pretty much the closest professional 3ccd cameras you can get for around 1k with all of your specs. Make sure you do your research before you buy anything.
Awesome, dose this have auto focus, like auto focus onto macro things, although i see at 0:24 it looks like it dose, but is that auto or manual twisting the lens thing, which i prefer?
Did you adjust the iris while filming? I am thinking of buying the canon hf20 (in my price range) and I need a camera whose iris can be adjusted while filming. Do you know if the hf20 can?
I didn't do anything to the iris while filming this video but there are settings for it in my camera. If I had to guess the hf20 would most likely have it. Make sure to do plenty of research before you buy.
i just ordered mine for the price of $629...i save like $400 bucks!!!! now i can get the wide angle lens with the left over money!! it'll be here in about two weeks...for that price the wait is worth it....
Looks Great. I just got the same kind of camera. What is the settings on your camera? What are you using to edit with? Are you color correcting? If so exactly what are you doing to the color? Your video looks better than mine is the reason that I am asking. Thank You. Keep up the good work.
I'm pretty sure I used cinema mode, and I edited this one with sony vegas. The render is 1280x720. I did color correct but I only adjusted the contrast.

(And it's recording on miniDV right?)
EclektikMedia 1 year ago
@EclektikMedia yes it uses firewire. You can add a firewire card to your computer to make it work, and yes it records to mini dv.

@FixedLensProductions sorry for the late response, yes the camera records to mini dv tape. when I import it into premiere its in an mpeg file format.

@bddfilms how do you import the video to the computer if it is on a tape? does it come with a special cable or something?
