  • This video is... heartfelt. Good work, great end note. All the best.

  • so bob somethings happened and yur not talking. dont blame you mate. i no all about geezers who dont want to be talked about. the nited owls sounds like a pretty solid crew. me? Im like you mate. i dont no nothing about those geezers

just a word of advice mate. dont call these geezers wrong in the head or less than human. you might make them angry. and you dont wanna make these geezers angry. no you dont. cheers mate

  • Metabob I sat through this entire video and I enjoyed it! I believe that youtube and all of this is real. You seem to a genuine person who expresses his feelings and emotions and I admire that. I like your honesty and your realism.. Just watching someone talk about a topic of some-sort and expressing their opinion is cool. I hope your doing better with whatever it was you were dealing with.

  • Bob I really hope all is well with you. I had exactly the same kind of exostential moment when I recorded a video about the scuicide of a friend. I have no idea why I wanted to share it, but I did and it was cathartic.

I think to some extent we're all ego whores becuase this is a space we have a modicum of control over and where we can create.

Peace - I really hope you're doing well after whatever happened

  • Thanks, Billy.

I watched your video, fived it, but didn't leave a comment because I couldn't bear leaving some stereotypical condolence, no matter how heartfelt.

My issue wasn't anything of life and death import. Just a heart pang.

Good to see you back. And I hope you can find a tolerable level of YouTube addiction that allows you to stay.

  • Who does your make-up?

    It's really good.

  • metabitch! hahaha. so what is your take on hardcase aka fakesagan? He unblocked you, you can make video answers again! metabitch, please go on making "no pwnage intended" videos again. metabitch, metabitch, metabitch, I'd like to see you ponder on how capnoawesome's cock tastes?

  • Bob we don't mind when you go 'off topic' lol - it's all quality content, because you are honestly expressing yourself. I always enjoy your videos. You put thought into them and you care about good communication. You also know how to frame and light a scene, which is a plus! You're a true craftsman and artist.

  • You know it is kind of strange, I don't tell people anything in real life but it feels "safer" or something for me to talk to strangers-for that connection to not exist.

I have met some of the people I have connected to in person and I am probably a much better person because of it.

As far as your films go, I have watched the ones you have posted and I have enjoyed them.

I also just wanted to say that I am sorry that you have been hurt and I hope that things get better soon. Take care Bob.

  • This too shall pass.

  • *sip*

    cheers *sip*

  • Glad to see you back and off topic. All the best with the "i won't talk about it" incident. Here's hoping you pick up your vlogging pace.

  • I'm sorry to hear that something awful happened to you. I just wanted to say that I think you are probably one of the most "real" and honest vloggers on youtube, and that I completely agree with your assessment of the ever growing influence of youtube and how it effects the mind and position of the artist in society.

I also love the films you posted, and I say that as an amateur "filmmaker" myself.

  • I think vlogging on YT (as opposed to making short films mocking celebrities or paying homage to your favorite movie) is a way for people to speak their minds without the fear of being interrupted. Certainly you can be ignored if no one watches, but once you have an audience willing to listen to you talk about your life in ways that you can't do in front of your own friends and family I think it can be liberating.

  • I'm sorry about your sadness, Bob. As Buddha and others have said, life is difficult. It was great meeting you last year!

I was in my 30s when the internet really took off, so it still hits me how amazing this technology is. It's like a SciFi future, but without the jet-packs and silver lame' jumpsuits.

I wish you all the best; hang in there.

  • Thank you. You know, I've got about fifteen seconds of footage of you at El Coyote in all the KO@LA stuff from a year ago that I still haven't cut. Some day... some day, when you least expect it...

  • Nice video MetaBob.

  • I guess I am one of the faders. Like you, YT has had a profound affect on my really real life. One of the side effects was me giving up this hobby for a while (well I still like to comment ...).

I'm sorry that you've had some adversity that you don't feel like you can talk about. I guess that's a side effect of this "community" transitioning from fake/anonymous to the real world.

In real life someone could always yell "road trip!". Here we have to settle for clicking on something else.

  • Ah... road trip! I wish. Thanks for the thought anyway.

BTW, you still owe me a video explaining away the arrow-and-the-target paradox.

  • you have pushed my thoughts in many ways I never went thinking by myself. even though when I started thinking in those ways, I realised that those ideas were already inside me. I just somehow looked passed them unknowingly. this has happened in a couple of videos of yours. with what you've said.

with this video, you pushed me onto another new road. this is why I might not forget about you. I connect to you throughout the day when find time to think those new ways.

    thanks.

  • Yr welcome.

  • YT is a potentially very powerful medium. It is also very immediate and can be unpretentious.

I like communicating with people from other countries and cultures.

I've come to the conclusion that the people I call 'my friends' on this site really are my friends. I've had a few years now to see if those friendships would last and they really have.

I have more of an intellectual friendship with people here.

This is also a great platform to find like minds.

  • i feel very similarly.

  • Good luck Bob with whatever has happened. As a fellow human being I appreciate your feelings on the matter.

  • My condolences on whatever it is that you're going through.

I'm not very good at speaking off the top of my head. I vlog to practice my speech skills and to share part of my life with the world b/c everyone's life is not the same. I also like to share ideas and experiences on this you tube.

  • Remember the more you talk about yourself the less of a stranger you are to us.

  • a last comment about the ending of the video...

i guess you might be right. i want parts of what i believe in out there and scrutinized, because i really really dont want to hold any beliefs that have already been debunked, and there are always details that can be improved. for me its an ongoing process.

but right now im risking a suspension for speaking out against what youtube does and keeps doing, so maybe ill have to start a new channel or try different websites/mediums soon.

  • I'm sorry you have hit sad times.

  • Thanks, and don't worry. It was just a brief speed bump on the road back to philosophical flatline. ; P

  • for me, there are two important aspects when it comes to video blogging.

the first is that you can share ideas, or even parts of your worldview, and have a bunch of other people search for flaws and mistakes and point out errors, and ask questions, make connections. and when it comes to worldviews, i want the best one available. based on facts, logic and reason, and philosophical concepts, everythingset up in such a way that it can change as new information comes in. (next coment)

  • ... continued

this thing about sharing ideas and getting them reviewed works especially well on the internet, because in reallife you dont get enough people to listen it through if it takes more than 3 minutes to explain.

the second aspect would be that i want to educate people, i want to change peoples minds, and i want different ideas to meet / collide / destroy each other / advance each other. basically memetics. i want to advance good ideas and debunk bad ones.

  • It's nice to see you again Bob, I hope that what ever happened is sorted out soon. Things tend to work out in the end.

I hope to see more of you in the future.

  • Fell asleep at 13:47

  • Awesome that you remember the exact moment.

Yes, some of my subscribers use me instead of sleeping pills.

  • If it's anything less private, than the guy next door making a porn vid with your wife (CpnA and Osu), then it's now MUST publish issue by order of YT TOS.

  • I hope you get through your problems soon. Thank you for helping me better understand the Youtube phenomena. -- an anonymous subscriber

  • Glad to see you back you sexy hunk of man. I think you are the sexiest hunk I ever seen. I wish I could be your sex slave. You can do whatever you like ;-)

  • Sigh. Thanks. If only you were a lovely lady in the 25-t0-55 age bracket. :'(

  • Hi Bob,

I think that maybe, when you say that "youtube is real", maybe your realizing that the barrier between an artist and his/her audience is largely imaginary, especially these days. Once an artist invites someone in there's a larger connection made, something more than just speaking or communication. The connection manifests itself in the usual ways, but there's an intangible quality that rests just above the proceedings. You know what I'm talking about (more)

  • If you remember a while back I sent you a private video concerning a video you made... I realized then and now that the barrier between artist and audience exists only in the sense that the audience has no outlet through which to respond in the larger way. That's why I made the video.

But as you've found out recently, that larger quality can pack a serious punch. Once the connection is made it never really goes away.

  • Yes, there is a limit to how interactive asymetical communication can be.

Especially with someone like me who has a hard time even with one-on-one communication.

  • But at least for someone like you (and maybe all of us to a certain degree) a slower format such as making videos allows the breathing room to consider what we're talking about and trying to communicate. I find that I often hold off on communication one on one because I often doubt either I can get my point across adequately or that the other person wont get what I'm talking about. I like to think of it as the curse of the artist; so much to say that language cant muster.

  • "I've digressed, haven't I?"

Can't say I'd noticed, Bob. Just nice to hear from you again, even though it's tempered by the knowledge that you took a knock a day ago. I'd say I've had far more positive out of YouTube than negative. I've learned a lot. I think my high points have been REAL scientists confirming that my grasp on science is what I had hoped. That was worth it on its own, and I've had MUCH more than that. Nobody has yet figured out my connection to the Royal family so I'm safe. ;)

  • YouTube is real. I agree and disagree. Obviously you're showing parts of your true self, and the best vloggers are people who just put it out there and don't try to make it a show. You're a classic example of this.

So when you say you're trying to make something heartfelt, you might have gotten off-topic, but it was heartfelt to me.

  • ....I throughly enjoyed this , unlike a shrink who usually does not and gets paid to listen.... one must cry and talk pentup emotions out... lest they become soured inside... :) ...

  • glad ur back MetaBob. gl to u

  • Nice to see a new video from you. Hope whatever it was that made you sad works out.

  • It's a difficult propostion, and I think in the end, you're right, no matter how it starts out, it does become real & a part of your life. I never got into vlogging but find it interesting.

My own reasons for coming here have more to do with sharing videos and animations, and the appreciation of a somewhat larger audience. To tell the truth, I am happy if I do not get many drama subs, I have seen many vloggers who have many drama subs and it seems to be very difficult to say the least.

  • I still have that small audience... I never played in the mud with the kids that just wanted to bitch at each other.

I really don't want the huge audience.

Funny, I got a taste of being around fame and walked away from Hollywood completely. Wanted nothing to do with it. I still LOVE independent film and never looked back.

My first full length screenplay is almost done (that was not a drop, BTW) and I love that I am making it with a small crew in mind.

  • I don't use this word very often, but I really HATE it when people talk about the "real world" as if you are a different person when communicating electronically... it makes NO DAMN SENSE!

  • Man I hate it when people bring up somehting and then do not tell you.

Something bad happened to me and now I am a cripple but I wont tell you what it is (a car crash and I am now a paraplegic). Yeah. Never gonna tell you.

  • People who vlog in search of fame or fortune are utterly deluded fools.

I enjoy YT for the community even though I prefer to lurk around on the fringes of it in order to mock people with substandard intelligence. I try to keep my RL separate from my InterWebbers persona.

  • "Persona." Ha!

  • I am actually much more of an asshole in real life.

  • That's what you think. The vlog never lies.

  • Then my ex-wife's opinion of me is slanderous? Thank you for that illuminating revelation.

  • It's been a long time, Metabob!! Good to see you again.
