    Thanks for SHARING this video.

  • @goodgooglegoo

Yes, practicing scales is a great warm up! Especially if you play the scale that matches the key of the musical composition you are about to practice! It's a great New Year's Resolution! Scales! Yessssssssss!

    Love,

    Di

  • @MillerMusicStudiosTV - you are RIGHT ABOUT THAT .. and thanks to your video? I have already started practicing my scales more ..... now ? I'm looking for more scales to practice.

BE BLESSED and @ PEACE and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

  • Hands together is tricky but I'm gonna get it!

  • @AStrummerNamedJoe,

I have faith in you! I know you will get it! Look for the patterns! And get muscle memory in each hand alone before playing together each day!

    Love,

    Di

  • this was useful, thanks :)

  • Dear Bunfire123,

You are very welcome! I'm glad it helped.

    Love,

    Di

  • That bit at the start is sooo funny :D

  • Thank you for this very helpful video. It was just what I was looking to find.

  • Also, take a look at my channel if u have any free time. You will see how much you have taught me through the internet hehe. You may like it. Theres 2 versions. 1. Electronic Classical and 2. Orchestral Version. I wrote the piece and in the synth version I designed all the sounds myself from scratch.

HEHE hope you enjoy it and as a thank you u have my permission to download the video and or music part and put it on your web site if u like the song.

  • Two things. First thank you so ver much. I have learned so much from you. The other thing is two-fold. You have a very beautiful voice singing and talking :) and also you are a beautiful woman :)

No offense or disrespect indended. I dont let beaty go un-noticed.

Anyway, thanks again and look foward to learning more about music.

  • Dear dadaistful,

You are more than welcome! I'm glad you like my hands - they sure help teach lots of students! I thank God for my hands ;) and for friends like you!

    Love,

    Di

  • Thankyou so much for this video! This is the first time I've understood the reasoning behind the sharps and flats- usually I just had to learn them by heart cause they made no logical sense to me! Brilliant!

  • Dear Tigra7uk,

I'm so happy to help :) I hope to have the time soon to upload the rest of the scales - please pray that I find the time!!! I hope you will enjoy the other scale, chord and arpeggio videos too.

    Love,

    Di

  • thank you so much for these videos. they are great!

playing hands together is very difficult, does it just come with time? or are there lessons specific to that skill?

    thanks

  • Hi 3DEVIANT, Playing scales hands together is difficult - the hands r doing opposite things at the same time. Hands r a mirror image of each other - when u start with ur fifth finger u use all 5 fingers then cross over, & when u start with finger #1 u use 3 fingers then cross under to begin again with finger #1. Practice 1 octave slowly hands separately many times, when u have muscle memory, then u can play one octave hands together, then go for 2, 3, and 4 octaves :) You'll get it! Love, Di

  • Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom here, without videos like this i would be lost.

Ill be practicing scales like crazy, using these as a benchmark. I will surely be bck for more once ive craked it.

    See yah :o)

  • Dear 3DEVIANT,

    Love,

    Di

  • No worries :o)

i can build all Mj scales using whole/half step formula. Quick check my fingering is correct and away i go. Itll be some time before im even close to the level shown here but i now look forward to proactice knowing im on the right path.

    thank you. mwah. x

  • Thank you Diane. I´m playing piano for the first time since 1 year only. I know already about 14 songs and now i´m trying to play from a sheet music although i can´t read music, only with the chords, you know, the one that can be used to play guitar, and i can do that because of people like you or pianojohn who help a lot of people around the world. My english is as good as my piano performance, so i hope you can understand what i´m saying. Thanks again.

  • Dear PedroElVirtu,

That's great news that you are learning so many songs on the piano! Keep up the good work! and your English is perfect!

  • Dear Diane!

Thank you yours help to understanding the music theory. I enjoy and waiting every lessons. I also practise scale four octaves every day another style (legato, staccato). Cherny said: "Do you ask me how good a player you many become? Then tell me how much you practise the scale. " much love: Robert

  • Dear tarjanyi5/Robert,

I'm so happy to hear from you and to know you are benefitting from my videos :) I have hundreds more I want to share with you, but I have to be patient and find the time to make the vids. Yes, legato/staccato is good - and also in various rhythms - not just parallel motion, but also in contrary motion, hence the Russian Pattern scale - the Grand Form - I hope to show that too.

    Much love,

    Diane

  • Diane! Chuck Berry, et al. had only succeeded in making Beethoven roll over, whereas you, my dear, gave Bach a shock! I hope people are sure to hit the HQ button in order to get the most of Theodore, Simon, and Alvin's cameo! I love it how you manage to be so cutting edge that you literally 'twitter' on YouTube :-) I enjoyed your lesson, as always. And thank you for being a gracious friend during my Internet drought. You were a lifesaver. Much love, ~Terry

  • Dear BocaFriend/Terry,

Yeah! and Bach is so cool he needs sunglasses to camouflage his coolness!!!! So you like The Chipmunks, eh? I will have to remember that at Christmas time!!! hahaha.....yah! that did sound like a real twitter, didn't it? hahaha....now you know the truth about my giggle... I'm so glad you enjoyed the lesson, and I am so happy to have been of assistance when your internet server drowned! Yikes! Love you, Di

  • Great job! I especially like the floating Bach with sunglasses!

  • Dear BachScholar/Cory,

Thanks for the hurrah!!! So ....was Bach really "floating" or was he actually "turning over in his grave" as I played that piece!? lol - or......was he "rocking out"??? hahaha........ I think my Bach is your Bach with sunglasses, no? Or are they a tad bit different? Cory - I can't wait for all your new videos of popular pieces we all love!!!! You are fabulous!

  • Very nice! I especially think I can use the first few minutes (with the graphics for fingering) with my students. Thank you for sharing your video with me!

  • Dear The PianoSchool,

I am so happy to hear from you and to know that you can use this video for your students! Can you imagine making videos to correspond to every major and minor scale and related chords & arpeggios around the entire Circle of 5ths??? YIKES! Seems like a daunting task but if we tackle it just one at a time, I think we can do it! What do you think? I hope you stick with me and keep encouraging me to try to complete this cycle!!! You are a blessing! Love, Di

  • Dear 3BsBill,

You make me smile!!!! hahaha......were you really ROFLYAO? lol - me too!!!! I'm checking out some songs that are public domain before I upload more of singing..... decisions, decisions.... I found about 500 today!! I was thinking of making a segment of Oldies but Goodies... let's see how this idea "plays" out ;)

    Love,

    Di

  • My aging ears perked up at the mention of "Oldies but Goodies," and I second that emotion! Then again, with the way you and your videographer film your videos, let's say "I second that commotion." 500 is a good start. We all love to see you every chance you get! Di-on-Demand! We are all blessed by your giftedness and the gifts of your time and energy here. Love ya, ~Terry

  • Dear BocaFriend/Terry,

    Love,

    Mom

  • The keyboard were several floors wet my horrified me. Off the keys with disgust and longing. Glued to each other, do not reach all the notes with my fingers only. The number of keys had increased by at least three and all had the feel of wet bread.

The teacher did not help anything. For him, the nightmare was a miracle. For the righteous are fascinated linked to infinite possibilities.

    greetings my beloved Diana

    Raul ...

  • Dear conejolua/Raul,

If anyone could make music out of wet bread, it is you!!!!!

Much love to you from New York,

    Diane
