@Vidinotes I've already posted this but I'll say it again. I think it wasn't about the horse at all. Ralphie killed a prostitute that Tony regarded as a good kid who could have been his own daughter. Tony had a soft spot for that girl. When Ralphie killed her, it broke Tony's heart. Tony killed Ralphie to avenge that girl's death. Tony didn't even know it himself. But that was why he couldn't stop until he was sure Ralphie was dead. He hated Ralphi for killing that girl.

@willia3r I don't think it was about the horse. Tony had a deeply hidden resentment over the girl that Ralphie killed. Tony felt like a father to that girl and he never let it go. He didn't know it himself, but he used the horse's death to justify his avenge for the girl. That's how I see it anyway.

its weird...sometimes guns in this show are realistic, other times they look totally fake and weird. Chris is totally holding a 1911 in the beginning then a Glock...but in some scenes the guns look like Glock-Sig hybrids or just plain fake. It's not a big deal, it's a great show and they cant get everything perfect. Just an observation

Plus remember Tony is a sociopath, loves animals & babies but has little regard for humans, that's why he got so angry at Ralph.

I agree. I wanted Tony to kill him right there in the Bing parking lot. But that would have been too heroic. By Season 3, Chase had become concerned that Tony was too likable and wanted to remind everyone what kind of character he really was (cruel, greedy, sociopathic, petty, etc). I think the fact that Tony not only let Ralphie live but also made him a captain was intended to demonstrate where Tony's priorities really lie.
