@assymessy neither lol I mean, they are both good in their own ways, and IU has a better chest register, she can belt higher, but Taeyeon's head voice and lower range are better, also Taeyeon conveys emotions better, though IU is good for acoustic......the problem is, IU doesn't have very good technique whereas Taeyeon has moderately better technique

@KitsuneMale : someone say the pretty high note in the boys in tae's part which she didn't sing live was sung by Yoo Young-Jin , but I think it's taeng's voice, it doesn't sound like male's voice at all (to me it sound like tae's voice and I think I know her voice well). What do you think?

@basarabest oh no, that note she is hitting in harmony at first with either Yoo Young Jin or Jessica, she hits a C5 and whoever else hits a Eb5, and the note right after is a G5, and it's in mixed voice, I thought maybe it could have been her voice, but it is Yoo Youngjin's voice certainly, it's just his mixed voice is really well developed so it sounds like a perfect female high note

@taehoney oh no, i wasnt annoyed, i was just confused as to why ud ask such a thing lol....it wasn't that short actually, i mean, a musical note can be sung in less than a second and she holds her G5 in head voice for the last chorus of seoul song for a while....and well, i just know how to sing and i use my tuner to help me find the note too...so yeah, there's no magic, it's pretty logical lol ^ ^

@davidchubo depends what high notes you are talking about, her head voice is pretty good, and her range up to E is pretty good, she is alto-ish, she is not supposed to be a high belter, her colored voice is at a lower range than that

@followchicken hm, probably same voice type as Christina Aguilera, a dramatic mezzo-soprano, or perhaps an alto....

Hyorin, and Park Bom, I don't think they've released or sung enough songs to show a high high range, but the low range would be quite ok, maybe in the future, I can do for Hyorin, and if I look around, I will see more of Park Bom, so yes, suggestion are taken down for future consideration ^ ^

I don't know how many of you saw the clip from the recent Japanese tour, but that shocking intro for RDR by Taeyeon really knocked my socks off. It sounds like it was performed by a seasoned professional who's been singing hard rock/heavy metal all their life. I think we've got one sensational singer in Taeyeon, who can not only sing in wide range, but also does it in beautiful tone and elegant style. She's not just a good singer. She's a TRANSCENDENT singer, in my opinion.

@saxonroxon thanks, but the point in that video is her vocal strength rather than her range, it doesnt apply very well here, since she didnt hit a significant note in there and the audio quality isnt good, i dun think there's a great vocals or...i dunno how to put it....vocal strength measure, but ill see what i can do about it once there's a better audio of it ^ ^

@KitsuneMale Well, measuring a singer's range certainly has certain entertainment value, but that without a good tone and rich soul means very little in terms touching the listeners' hearts. Of course, those who are considered as the best of all time, such as Steve Perry of Journey and Freddie Mercury of Queen, are the complete package with high range AND soul. I think Taeyeon is one of the few "idols" who possess the rare quality. As a longtime afficianado of rock music, I can attest to it.
