I remember reading that during a race in 1973 Jackie Stewrart was leading and Francois Cevert second going into the final lap when on one of the corners Stewart missed a gear and he said that Cevert could've passed him to take the lead and win the GP but he had sensed what had happened and stayed behind his No.1 driver and teammate to let Stewart recover and win the GP.
He had so much respect for Jackie Stewart and likewise he for Francois Cevert they truly were one of the great F1 teams
Very cool how Jackie talks about Francois with SO many supreme compliments, and not ONE SHREAD of pettiness or jealousy. That is very hard to do - I can't think of too many men who would do that, especially STARS like these two.
Had Cevert not died I wonder if he could have been champion in 1974. Jody Scheckter managed to stay in the title race until the very last race of the season. The question is whether Ken Tyrrell would hire Scheckter if Cevert was still alive?
Jackie Stewart raced in a very dangerous era and lived to tell the tale. Many others weren't so lucky...
Hannufff... what an incredible video you put together. Both content and form are superb class. Thank you for your dedication and for sharing it with us. Regards!
Was going to name my first son Ayrton Gilles Francois but typically had three girls.Loved Jean Claude Halle's 'A Contract with Death'.Great driver, great video and brilliant video.
I wish the modern drivers had some of the charisma and talent of people like Jackie and François. The sadness in Jackies eyes over the loss of his friend is plain to see.
It is somehow incomprehensible for me to realize that this gorgeous body of an athlete, with a radiant smile and tremendous talent, is no longer alive. He is getting into a car right in front of my eyes, every time I watch a video or tribute to him... and 'they' want me to believe he is gone? No, no, no! Can't be true!
stewart was a revolutionary in the field of f1. it clear that if wasnt for him the f1 wasnt so sure during the next years of f1. i believe that he must been the fia president and not ecclestone
ecceltone is lead hand of FOM and Max Mosely is the lead hand of the FIA. but your right managment needs to be changed. eccelstone has became a billionaire off the sport while the sport suffers for money. Max is a nazi who is quoted saying the FIA could survive with out F1. i think this was a shot he thinks F1 couldnt survive without FIA. he might be right if FIA left i dont think it could be concidered a world championship. they have to much power to be un seated.
lol its not that he has a fetish. its what the fetish is, and when you look at his family history it is trully a disgrace. every since then i think him and Bernie havent seen eye to eye.
You don't see relationships like these two had these days in F1. Maybe the relationship between Schumacher and Massa comes close, but just barely.
I tell you, I love Jackie Stewart. I just love the man to death. What would my boyhood been like if Jackie wasn't there driving, and commentating on TV for me. He's like a close uncle to me in a way.
Stewart and Cevert's friendship is a rare example of team-mates being close friends...Lauda and Regazzoni also got on well at Ferrari. It's rare because the first person you must beat in F1 is your team-mate...I think here Cevert was happy to be driving with an old master like Stewart
Que homenagem belíssima. Quando Cevert se foi, eu tinha apenas 7 meses de vida. É uma pena não ter conhecido o seu talento na época. Mas está ai o Stewart para mostrar e relembrar para as futuras gerações. Grande Stewart, Grande Cevert, Deus abençoe ambos sempre!
why do i life when a great person like him die?

I understand perfectly. I love the man too. He's like one of the most genuine people ever.
The video makes you feel to go back in time and change this terrible terrible event so that it never happened.
