@GranturismoFan96 ate trhe end of the day half life is an heavy modified quake :D, even source engine has little bits of code form this game! john carmack said so. basicly this is the best game of all time. revolutionary multiplayer and single player, not to mention that e sports started with quake world. even cs1.6 guys that say quake is shit, dont know they are playing a degenerated version of it :)
I could be any one of the 15 odd people we have in the computing class, but you can narrow it down to the computer literate people in the class, so that takes like 10 of them out the equation :L
So this is what you do then Alex, or QuantumCrayons whichever you prefer! This would explain you wanting to get the Sinclair ZX81 working in computing, playing the games of yesteryear. Would like to recommend Metal Gear Solid for a run-through as its a classic game around our generation and I'm a massive fan of it.
MGS, I've only played a bit of 3, and MGS is a pretty difficult game to get a hold of now. If I can obtain a copy, and I can see a way of doing it well, it's definitely a possibility.
Every game now is the military comes in and the aliens show up to take over bodies and they fight each other, about 200 years in the future.
The first quake was great because who knows when the heck it takes place? And who are you? A space marine? From where? That's what's so great about it! it's in the future and the past at the same time, it appears. It's like medieval and science fiction at the same time. It's an escape.
Yeah, but the problem was that there WASN'T much story to make a sequel out of, and Quake 2 was released when gamers wanted one. Thus, they created the Strogg, and stuck you in that. Operation Counterstrike continued over Episode Packs 1 & 2 though, so the story didn't just end at the end of Quake.
Quake 4 is definately the worst of them all, despite that. They destroyed gameplay for adding 'reloading', a melee weapon as 'backup' and felt the need to make it more 'horror-based' than action, despite that's it's a direct sequel to Quake 2.
I guess the reason why is because I'm not really into 1st/3rd person shooters as much as all the other genres, but I do enjoy simple ones like jet force gemini and Doom for instance.xD
Fantastic game, if a little outdated. iD always knew how to deliver with their games. People still play Doom and Quake today just because they're so simple, so fast paced, and so balanced in their action and tension.
You know, people give a lot of games nowadays a lot of flak for being too brown, but Quake has got to be the brownest game I've ever seen.
It's still a lot of fun though.

Oyeah, forgot that I linked them up. But seriously, I've got my wii 'adapted' to run PSX games, so MGS could be a possibility.

The sequels immediately lose the medieval feel.

Mmmmm.. Quake...
I prefer Quake 2 over the first, though..

Although, saying that, the Stroggification scene is one of the best CGI sequences I've seen in a while.
QuantumCrayons 2 years ago
Yeaaah no. I just felt they changed Q4 too much to fit in the old Quake gameplay.
Then again, there's like a huge gap of time between Quake 3 and Quake 4, so I guess they wanted to make something new, something fresh..
I dont like it though.

I didn't say the game was good, just the animation ;D
