  • are you pro or con god?

  • @marleonetti1

"are you pro or con god?"

    _

I would like to believe that gods exist. Unfortunately, beliefs are not a matter of choice; they are a consequence of what a person values as justification amongst many variables.

    ____

Note: While many gods are believed in by men, only a small handful I view are worthy of worship.

  • "Nor do anorexics."

What? Anorexia is not a belief. There are physical signs of anorexia. What physical signs are there for atheists? 666 tattooed on the forehead? There were never separate bathrooms for atheists. Never slave trade of atheists. Bad comparison. You just like to be right ALL THE TIME! Your tragic flaw. Hopefully you are young enough to grow out of it. Best of luck! Peace out! :+)

  • @captainblewhard

"What? Anorexia is not a belief"

    _

Relevance. Context given to me was that atheists don;t wear labels. Reality is, neither do anorexics, people with herpes, etc....yet people hold preconceived ideas about them too.

All you childish and ignorant arguments are childish and ignorant. Many of them, like this one, don;t even touch my rebuttals as you clearly are missing the point.

  • @captainblewhard

"What physical signs are there for atheists?"

    _

Same physical we have for other groups who are prejudiced: people with herpes, people who believe in UFO abductions, people in insane asylums, muslims(there are white ones too, you know...not just the brown folks as you might think), scientologists, etc...

    _________

Prejudice is having a preconceived idea about the group based on a few, or one, person's actions. That's what rationalresponder is doing. End of game.

  • Find one story were an atheist was passed up for a cab ride because the cabbie was prejudiced against atheists. I'm just saying the two are not similar enough to make such a bold statement. Your opinion is important, however! Just a bit skewed.

  • @captainblewhard

"Find one story were an atheist was passed up for a cab ride because the cabbie was prejudiced against atheists."

    _

    False equivalence is false.

    1) I explained that a prejudiced cabbie would still take the fare, yet have prejudiced opinions of their customer

    2) If I told very conservative christian cabbies I was atheist, I'm certain I would be denied a ride from time to time. Just like I am denied the opportunity to even be considered a citizen by "nameless" former Presidents.

  • Beliefs not a matter of choice? Then why are there more than one religion? You saying I can't become a methodist now? You say I can't believe in ET's now? Are you saying no Irish "ate the soup"?

Let's make a deal. I'll put 10 "black" people and 10 atheists in a room together with 80 white theists. Then we'll both escort all blacks and atheists from the store. I'll round up the black people and you round up the atheists. But in total silence! We'll see who finishes first!

  • @captainblewhard

"Beliefs not a matter of choice? Then why are there more than one religion?"

    _

Non sequitur. Can you choose to believe in Santa for me. Tell me exactly how that works out on Dec25...tell me when you actually believe that a jolly fat man will travel around the planet on a magic sleigh in 1 night, breaking and entering into every house to drop off toys or coal, based on a special list.....you let me know how quickly reality shits all over you. Okay?

  • @captainblewhard

". I'll put 10 "black" people and 10 atheists in a room together with 80 white theists."

    _

Prejudice is NOT limited to physical factors! Holy fucking shit! How many times do I have to state this? How many times do I have to show you that prejudice is prejudice?

Seriously, I want to know. Exactly how many times must facts be presented to you for you to stop trying to defend your pride and ego in failing, and accept reality?

  • Strawman schmawman - you're pushing your beliefs on others. Simple. "Progressive society". You make it sound like you've got all the answers. That stuff's a dime a dozen. What makes you and your ethical standards better than others? "Progressive"? Give me a break. Words, my friend, are just words, opinions just opinions, atheists old as theists. If you get some sort of rush out of it then good for you! I don't wanna harsh on your mellow. Your views are as old as the sea, however.

  • @captainblewhard

"Strawman schmawman - you're pushing your beliefs on others"

    _

What fucking beliefs am I pushing onto others? I make suggestions. If someone is going to act with prejudice, then they willbe called out on prejudice. Don;t be a twat on purpose. If they don;t like being called prejudice, then they should stop being prejudiced. End of game.

  • @captainblewhard

"You make it sound like you've got all the answers."

    _

No. I just have knowledge of history. Prejudice has only held the progress of the country back. Unless you think slavery, segregation, and women's subjection was a "good" thing or a neutral thing, then you are in agreement.

  • One more - hehe!

Elementary? You are then saying that your moral code is absolute? Everybody must believe in the same thing in order to, uh,,,what? Are you saying there is a compelling need for everyone to act in the same manner in the same instance as you? What about your "absence" credo? Now you are imposing morality or ethics? Maybe we should start praying to you! Because you want to be able to "sleep well at night" means everyone must feel the same? You're pushing your shit too!

  • @captainblewhard

    "Elementary?"

    _

Yes. Prejudice is not very complicated; how it works, how it;s formed....but, you seemed to have severely fucked all that up, captain...

    ____

"You are then saying that your moral code is absolute?"

    _

No, and nothing I have posted has suggested such a thing, captain...

  • @captainblewhard "Are you saying there is a compelling need for everyone to act in the same manner in the same instance as you?" _ No, captain... I make suggestions how to live according to knowledge of what progresses societies, captain... ____ "What about your "absence" credo?" _ My what? ____ "Now you are imposing morality or ethics?" _ No. I am making suggestions, captian... Hence, in my video, I note "I suggest you take the time to learn....etc", captain...
  • @captainblewhard "Maybe we should start praying to you! Because you want to be able to "sleep well at night" means everyone must feel the same?" _ I see you have no problems forming strawman beliefs from your own strawman claims about me in context, captain.... ____ "You're pushing your shit too!..." _ No, captain... As stated, I am making suggestions based on the knowledge of what it takes to live in a progressive society, captain... Prejudices of people do not progress society, captain...
  • @captainblewhard

Prejudice uncomplicated? Why do black girls favor white baby dolls? Simple? Maybe, but I have never heard of them liking atheist baby dolls though.

  • @captainblewhard

"Prejudice uncomplicated? Why do black girls favor white baby dolls? Simple?"

    _

    ___

It's not hard to imagine a child favoring a doll that represented what she is more likely to view in society (tv, school, etc)

  • HI! I think comparing a physical difference with a difference in belief is inaccurate. Atheists don't wear signs that label them as such. In theory it works, but in real life, do you ask someone their religious beliefs before picking them up in your cab? Race is permanent. You can change you beliefs at a shake of a stick. There are laws that discriminate against atheists still on the books, but is anyone currently challenging them? Are they even enforced today?

  • @captainblewhard I mean, a black man walks out the door in the morning, and most people will see him as a black man and possibly judge him for that. Atheists and the detailed bias towards them can never compare to racial discrimination. There's religious conversion by threat of death, but not racial conversion. Try something else like being a "no nothing" or a commie. Personal beliefs and skin color is an absurd comparison. Just my opinion, though. In theory it jibes.

  • @captainblewhard

"I mean, a black man walks out the door in the morning, and most people will see him as a black man and possibly judge him for that...."

    _

Prejudice isn't limited to racism, captain....

    ____

"Atheists and the detailed bias towards them can never compare to racial discrimination."

    _

    Yes, they can, captain....

when you use one person, or a small subset of an identifiable group, to justify preconceived beliefs about the group in general, that is prejudice, captain...

  • @captainblewhard

"Atheists don't wear signs that label them as such."

    _

    Nor do anorexics.

    ___

"In theory it works, but in real life, do you ask someone their religious beliefs before picking them up in your cab?"

    _

Do you think prejudice only extends to cabbies picking up people of a particular color, or do you think they will pick up people of all colors, but have prejudiced ideas about them at the same time?

  • @captainblewhard " Race is permanent." _ Prejudice isn't limited to racism, captain... ___ "You can change you beliefs at a shake of a stick." _ Beliefs are not a matter of choice, captain... They are a consequence of several variable, captain... ____ "but is anyone currently challenging them?..." _ I don't know, captain... If you're REALLY curious about it, why not investigate for yourself, captain?
  • @captainblewhard

"I think comparing a physical difference with a difference in belief is inaccurate."

    _

Because you're missing the point, captain...

Prejudice isn't limited formed by physical factors, captain...

It's formed by the actions of a few, and the prejudiced individual applying those few actions across the group, captain...

Prejudice is prejudice, captain, regardless of who it's applied to and why, captain...

  • Why do you need to make amends in this life? Is that a personal thing or a 12 step duty? What happens if you do not?

  • @captainblewhard "Why do you need to make amends in this life? Is that a personal thing or a 12 step duty?" _ Personal ideology. Empathy; care for others well being. ____ "What happens if you do not?" _ Then I go through life knowing that I have wronged someone unjustly. I carry that with me as a reminder to not repeat the action again. ____ Really, this is elementary stuff, captain...
  • rational responder is such a lying irrationalist idiot hypocrite

  • Thanks for the update! Great vid!

  • I'm so glad I live in Scandinavia and not America! There are virtually no christians left here now, or at least we never hear or see them, But on YouTube you'll always see some christian american or other spew out mumbo-jumbo about their superstition/religion or about us atheists or about some science they "don't believe in"! I think I'd go insane over there with all that ignorance and idiocy, so I'll never go there.. Great video, by the way! : )

  • @winterstellar We may have more than our share of crazies, but I'm sure a short visit could be okay.

  • @funningincircles Yes, I have actually considered going to Florida to watch one of the just two remaining space-shuttle launches. That's pretty awesome, I guess and there's nowhere else in the world one can see space-shuttles take off. So maybe.. : )
