Israel rejected "Christ" "The only acceptable sacrifice, God will "never"bend to Israel's rejection; temple sacrifices will never be acceptable "ever". Dan.9 24-27 Jerusalem rebuilt in troublesome times Neh4:16 "unto" Messiah, which was cut off (crucified) the (new) covenant confirmed for 1 week (a generation) in that generation sacrifices/oblations ceased, Jerusalem destroyed by prince (Cesar), flood makes it desolate til end (days) overspreading of temple is til Christ consumes/bound devil, EZ
Artaxerxes command to rebuild Jerusalem in 457 BC began the 70 week prophecy in Daniel 9. Using the day for a year principle Ezk 4:6 we get 490 years. The 70th week began with Jesus's Baptism in 27 AD...3 1/2 years into the 70th week Jesus confirmed the New Covenant with his blood sacrifice and caused the animal sacrifices to cease...the vail was rent. When Stephen was stoned in 34 AD the Jewish nation was cut off & the apostles began preaching to the gentiles.
Why are people determined to misrepresent God's time table? There is no mysterious gap between 69 and 70. All was fulfilled exactly as it was supposed to without a magic clock needed to make things fit. Futurist prophecy is deceiving the church.
The ruler who will come, as Daniel 9 says, will destroy the city and the sanctuary and make a covenant with many. Then he will break the covenant and set up an abomination in the temple. Satan makes the covenant to set Israel up for destruction. The Messiah later returns to set things right. This agrees, I believe, with the prophecies of the Beast in Revelation.
Boy, do you ever have this wrong? Israel was supposed to be God's people back then, right? If so (and it WAS), would you please tell me where in the Bible have you seen, even ONCE, where Satan makes a PACT or COVENANT with God's people? What kind of sense does this make? It's certainly not Biblical. Clearly this refers to the Messiah, the "Prince" of Peace.
Wow... where is this 2000 year gap - the "church age"? It's not in the text. Also "antichrist is not there either. So you are inserting your own ideas.
AFTER 69th week Messiah comes. He did, and He was cut off in the middle of the week as Daniel wrote. No Antichrist in the passage. Jesus is the Prince to come and He destroyed the city Jerusalem and the Temple because it had become an abomination for rejecting His Once-for-all Sacrifice. AD 70
I find it interesting that Jesus told Peter to forgive 70 times 7 (490)and this is the same amount of years the Jews have to get their act straight and they NEVER did! Therefore the new KOH (Kingdom of Heaven) will NOT be the Jews or Israel of today.
Can you tell me where in the Bible any prophetic timeline is ever interrupted by an indefinite period of time and then begun again? This interpretation makes no sense to me, and cannot supported biblically. It's an interesting and apparently popular theory, but what happens in the midst of the seventieth week makes clear that the only One who could have fulfilled that aspect of the prophecy was Jesus Himself.
reading the comment below you have to agree since the 70th week concerns the messiah, not the ant-christ. This also disproves the 7 year trib theory, which is never mentioned in the bible, but born from a misreading of Daniel, and also disproves the rapture, since the resurection happens at christ's return, since Christ says the first resurection happens after the trib (REV 20:4-6)
Only proves to you there is no 7 yrs of tribulation. When you take Lazbo's warped view you could make Michael, Jesus, as he does. Wrong interpretation, plus wrong conclusion equal Seventh Day Adventist view.
the seventy weeks begin with the decree given by artaxerxes in 457bc (ezra 7:11-13) we are then told of two times periods within the 70wks, 7wks & 62wks.adding the 7wks to 457bc we arrive at 408bc (temple restored) addin 62wks to 408ad we arrive at 27ad Christ's baptism (unto Messiah) leaving one week, midst of that week 31AD Christ's crucifixion (oblations\sacrifices done in sanctuary pointin to event cease)end of week 34ad Stephan stoned (acts 7)jews reject Gospel
