She realised her great great grandfather, Brigham Young, was not a prophet when she read his sermons on blood atonement and the blacks. Those authors didn't make claims that their books were an ancient history about a lost civilisation. Smith did. It becomes clear after a few chapters that Smith was strugglinfg for material, (Harris had lost 116 pages of the original manuscript) Therefore Smith put in chunks of Isaiah as filler.

Well, let me tell you this point. Have you ever read the Book of Mormon? Or part of it? Inside of Jacob chapter 5, it talks about the parable of the olive tree(look it up). This concept is so complex that a man with a 6th grade education could write it is proof that he did NOT make it up.
Yes he puts in TOPICS from Isaiah but he was not writing them in for 'fillers' as you say. He was emphasizing points from the bible because he believed in the bible. As do I.

The first edition of the Book of Mormon describes Smith as the author. This was quickly changed to translator. The parable you mention is based on Paul's writngs in Romans, Jesus's words about the unfruitful fig tree and material about the vineyard in Isaiah.

These two parables are completely different. If you read and study them closely, you will find this out.
Joseph Smith did not come up with these things. He translated the gold plates, which held records of the people before and after Christ. (600 B.C-400 A.D) The words were the written words of the prophets during that time, passed down from generation to generation.
