SEE! That's honesty. For no other reason than that it is the right thing to do. People who think it's ok as long as you don't get caught are stuck at the second stage of moral maturity, there are 5 stages. I look forward to hearing more from you.
Amen! I wish I could still post videos I would surely back you up whole heartedly. But alas, someone in the google universe has destroyed my video making processes. God bless to you Chris. You are deffinitely on the narrow way.....
I agree it isn't only for Christians - nor just to make God happy - what I tried to do is relate the story to Christians because the character of Christ should be in our hearts but what we do when 'alone' often betrays our Christian claims. As for JP - I was impressed and inspired by his actions because along with that story (which I heard on sports radio) I heard many athletes saying they would NEVER turn themselves in (no call no foul), but again I do agree, he did what he should have done.
He isn't holding Harris on a pedestal. Harris wouldn't WANT to be on a pedestal. It's too easy to fall off. Believe me I know. He is reminding us that we ALL should listen to the higher call, not what we WANT to do, but what is right.
God hides his face to test the inclination of our souls because mans unvarnished character is always exercised in secret.. what good are we if we are on our best behavior only when the police are watching, or United States Golf Association for that matter..
This reminds me of the event in Sweden about 5 years ago where the ruling party at that time made public an accounting error which had inadvertantly left a lot of people of pocket. Their response? To offer their resignations en masse! I kept thinking this show of integrity makes them all the more qualified to run the country. Thanks for this message Chris, we all have a long way to go.
Personally, I think it shows the pure Insanity of the PGA Tour. Do you really believe Non Believers don't have Character? One of the admirable things about non believers is at least they are who they say they are, I am not so sure about Theists sometimes? I know I was a Theist.
Agnostic - No - I've never believed non-believers don't have character. I disagree with you though - about being who they say they are. In my experiences - most people, Christian or otherwise - have a vision of themselves (and who they say they are) that isn't quite accurate and it isn'thow others see them.
I have to be as mature as I want to be? I long to be more like Him all the time - but I don't think the requirement for salvation is maturity - so much as it is sincerity.
Then, how sincere do I have to be? These aren't trick questions, but these questions are the ones that terrorize the conscience and if not handled correctly, they can make an unbeliever out of a believer.

I don't know, Chris...good character is
a: not only for Christians.
b: not something to be exercised to make God happy.
Blaming bad character, sneakyness, etc on how the world is?
JP Hayes did exactly what he should have done. I don't hold him on some pedestal for doing what he "should" do.

Here's the trick... Exactly how "mature" do you have to be?
