  • If Brian Cox tries to walk pass me, I will slow him down to ask intelligent questions...

  • Why does the Higgs field have a Higgs particle. Is it similar to how particles are waves or do concentrations of Higgs energy condense into particles I'm just making up guesses, because I don't know.

  • The analogy had me laughing my head off....

I highly doubt Brian Cox would be a "less popular" lecturer.... lol

  • @SH10JogaBonito

(To continue my previous comment). If this energy input is infinite and there is no distinguishable difference between one subatomic particle and another of itself. Then what would stop one cosmos to repeat. Infinitely developing every possibility. There would be no need for parallel universes if this was true.

  • @SH10JogaBonito

(To continue my previous comment). Therefore in creating masses of opposite properties they cancel out therefore equalling zero. However where did that previous Higgs energy come from that was able to create these two opposites from nothing how does this Higgs field input this energy.

  • All perception of the truth is the detection of an analogy, I am young and still ignorant of many basic concepts of Quantum Mechanics. However from what I can deduce it seems that the Higgs is logical and mathematically consistent, but if the Higgs gives a particle mass then what provides the original energy in the quantum fluctuation or is the energy of the Higgs fields, turned into mass of opposite properties like matter and anti-matter.

  • Wear a white coat! You guys are scientists for crying out loud!

  • where is part 14 ? ?? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

  • @pinnegubbe in the side bar

  • @mcRioRemedy it sure was not when i asked :P thanx anyway : )

  • STOP HITTING THE MACHINERY! That's the third time he's done that!

  • @comradek2021 what you mean ? :P

i think he was given a "OK" before he touched that detector. and he works at Atlas at CERN. so i think he knows what hes doing : P

  • STOP TOUCHING THE SENSITIVE MACHINERY!!!!

That's the 3rd time he's done that! Don't hit the machines!

  • A lot of energy to create a lot of mass? A better way to have said it is "It takes a lot of energy to create a little bit of mass".

  • @jinxedmodder Ya it takes lot of energy to create a little mass . So it takes a lots of energy to create lot of mass

  • @blackhatsabotage Re-read that last part of your comment carefully.

  • omg its fred loebinger

  • my favorite line is toward the end: "but if a less popular lecturer *snicker* walks across the grass... then everyone ignohz me"

  • i really want to know how anything that exists came to be existing im on some acid so im probably not making scence its kinda scary to think how would aanything be if nothing existed at all everything probably happens for a good reason oh and i was on that shit a long long time ago my llittle cousin likes to comment on here

  • @jb280557 researh the yellowstone park youll find things live in very acidic enviroments life is diverse in every way.

  • awesome what about element 115 they don't talk about that i'm pretty sure im not the only 6 year old that knows about this ? why do they do these experiments if theres a catastrophic side to it i still have a lot to learn about particles my freinds think im a geek . my science teacher acts amazed whenever i know everything she talks about i feel that my classes are way to easy my brother is teaching me some kind of math thingy called calculus . im sorry my punctuation was not proper

  • i would definitely slow down Brian Cox. I'm pretty neat Higgs particle

  • Is the Higgs particle responsible for it own mass as well? Seems paradoxical.

  • the real higgs has mass cus it interacts with virtual higgs ..

we are tryng to create a real higgs ...since virtual higgs exist everywhere ..but they are virtual ..meaning they exist for a limited amount of time , they are created from borrowed energy and must dissapear ..

when ur pumping energy into a collision , u just might create a real higgs ..wich is heavy.

  • I hope they can prove that Gravitation is the result of spacetime flowing into the center of mass or as to say Gravity is a manifestation of that.

Aliens use deterium based ultra compact particle accelerators to accelerate spacetime around their space elevator vehicles. General and special relativity along with the uncertainity principle govern that..

    See: Moving Dimensions Theory(MDT).

  • The Higgs particle can also be called, the attention whore particle.

  • why isn't it called the paris hilton particle then?

maybe they don't want crap in science books

  • no no the attention whore particle would be the W and Z bosons that attract it ...the higgs particle is the annoyng fangirl particle ^^

  • I think before you read Einstein you should see the doctor ;) no offense.

  • Yap, I have, studied it this time, but do you believe that matter has rebirth after being tranformed into energy? or blackhole itself could evolve into the matter as it once was?

  • I think that matter is able to transform into the energy and back. Well. In the Big Bang such transformations happened. Even when we blow up nukes matter transforms into the energy.

Well blackholes r created of matter ;)

  • makes sense...... so now all you need to claim your nobel prize is the mathematical and experimental evidence proving this.... I look forward to reading about the new nobel laureate in the paper tomorrow....lol

  • I think you should study General Relativity once again, so u can understand that massive objects like black holes create curves in the space-time, so the photons follow the curves being massless. So, could you please read some more Einstein?

  • time exists. Just as "luck" exists if people believe in it. Its an abstract umbrella term for measuring duration, and sequencing events

and its spelt aether. The greeks coined it - it means "upper sky". Luminiferous aether was used to describe the medium in which light can propogate and travel. It was disproven when the idea of a universal frame of reference came to be.

and use the space bar man.

  • I wonder why blackhole has mass yet seem to have no space occupied.

  • Well, first, black holes warp the space-time. Second, they "occupy" some space. It's called the event horizon. So they occupied some space but they also warped the occupied space. Besides there r huge event horizons around black holes. U can call them the occupied space :)

  • =) but do you believe they are short cuts to another space in the universe?

  • nah :) it would b nice ))) but I don't believe it :)

besides noone would b able to use such a short cut. when u'r really close to a black hole u face tidal forces. And u end up tired apart :)

  • nah)) I'd love to believe it. But I don't ))

Besides tidal forces r so strong near the event horizon that they decompose any body into particles.

  • So, it was therefore mass that this thighs sucks do not go to other places right? Does this things goes normalized after feeding matter?

  • what do u mean by normalized ?:)

  • They think that they have found the magnetic monopole which is a huge discovery if it proves to be true.

  • cool... everything is made of popular particles.

  • If they discover the Higgs and it has the properties they predict then it will not talk to the photon as it has no mass.

Also physicists have discovered a 5th state of matter since 1979.

  • AHHHH!!!!

  • no wonder physicists haven't discovered anything good since 1979 - that's when they stopped wearing flares!!

  • IFOUNTEHIGGS !!

  • he damaged the detector

  • Is that Fred Loebinger at 2:37???

  • I believe it may have been Dr Olaf Cocksplat, of the Santa Fe Institute

  • HAHAHAHA fucking hilarious. your other comment about porn was genius, too. keep that shit right up

  • yeah, it is

  • yah, yah, so how does this improve my quality of life? my taxes paid for their amazing facilities, so where's the social benefit?

  • Look buddy you want social benefit - the internet has revolutionised porn distribution. Back in the day I'd have to hunt around bused for my porn - if I wanted anything decent - like scat or animal - then I'd have tohaul my ass over to Amsterdam or somewhere. Now, thanks to physicists just like my man Coxy here, I can wank over Bukkakke, fisting or enema at the click of a button. Thank fuck for Scientists! Oh and computer games, mobiles, an nukes as well - sweet!

  • Lol Half life 2 sound - when those particles collide

  • lhccountdown(.)info for latest info and countdown

  • Maybe if the detector chambers were saturated with these antimatter particles then it would start making everything in the detector annihilate itself almost instantaneously with its anti-matter twin. Maybe this would make the higgs more prevalent because it might be the only particle left over in the detector chamber that didn't have an anti-matter twin to collide with.

  • Theory: If the ATLAS or CMS Detectors were saturated within with the anti-matter particles of the known particles that are formed when a collision between proton beams occurs, then I am wondering if that it would make it impossible to miss the Higgs because it is the only particle there that nobody knows what it's anti-matter twin looks like which would not be present in the detector.

  • If the Higgs is found, I think those physicists all over the world and will have it hung out to dry in no time. It's almost like a very very expensive witch hunt. Does it exist or doesn't it?

  • Theory: If the Higgs is the fundamental particle responsible for mass, then it seems to me that each particle must have a set descriptions or something like DNA describing what it is. For Example, when the Higgs talks to the photon the photon says I am a photon so excert this much force on me, and the heavier particles say exert much more force. If the Higgs turns up to be legitimate, it will be interesting to see what mechanism allows this particle to know what particle is which. Magnetism?

  • hi, i have 13 years, and whe i explain this to other adults dont belive me at all, odd, isnt'it?

  • nu esti frati-su lu cosmin ma ? :))

  • No doubt you are a feminist.

You can thank the men who worked in modern physics for the invention of the computer with which you write such nonsense.

  • I don't see you as feminist,as MMMisterDNA does, but you do have a disdainity to those who explore the realms of the unknown. If everyone was to think like you, we, as human beings, will not progress. I can only think 2 alternatives to the reason why you feel this way. 1. You are religious. 2. You're particularly ignorant in what science has done in the long term. You're thinking too politcially or religiously. When have you ever done something that wasn't to anyones benefit?

  • Yes, physics is patriarchal, take a look at a biology lecture and its 90% female. Both cost heaps in research, both have saved millions of lives and helped people in every day life. Not pursuing science is one of the more ingorant things ive heard in a long time.

  • Also this issue dosent have anything to do with sex, just idiot feminists always want to make men out to be evil and women to be little angels. After reading this if your ever sick i realy hope at the hospital u dont get given any electrical or biological support, it might have cost you some tax dollars!

  • hehe nice analogy

  • They're after the less popular particle that travels at the speed of light.
