Here come the bulls. SCRAM,bitches!...Cool car, Love Ford, big Ford fan, currently have a 2.3 l Turbo Merkur XR4Ti and my dad has a Mk1 Modeo 1.8 Ghia. Fiesta is a really cool ,nimble city car, a little pocket rocket that's fun to drive and easy to keep in shape :D.
I've got a H reg 2i now and I love it, it goes like stink, some bellends owned it before me so it's been ragged to fk and looks like the most chavtastic car ever but it's my 3rd child lol I love it, my dad and my bf thinks its a shitbox but hey it's MY shitbox and whos the one who gets them places..... that'll be me then lol =)
That brings back memories from 1990 when me and two friends kind of borrowed some poor guys spanking new xr2i from an asda car park. Lets just say it was the last time he saw it we kept it for a week then it found a watery grave at the bottom of the river clyde. Asda car park was always good for cars my favourite the Astra GTE gone in 60 seconds......cant 4get the old MRK4 Escort rs turbos ........gone in 60 seconds also ha.
I love the Ford Fiesta. I have a 05 plate 1.4 Zetec. Also learned to drive in a mk4 1.8D back in the day. I have to admit though, as much as I adore the Fiesta (and would defend it to the hilt), morgrp does have the point. The Fiesta, even the modern ones, and indeed all Fords new and old, do not have the best paint work on the planet =( I'm looking forward to the new one thats coming out next year. I just hope it will still be called "Fiesta" and not something else!
@morgrp unfortunately ford didn't see fit to spend as much on rust proofing its bodies as much as some other manufacturers at the time. However the reason you still see the odd one that seems to have escaped the rust is because the owner either never went anywhere muddy or kept the wheel arches, fuel filler area and sills free from crap and once a year washed the underside to remove the salt. With a little care believe it or not the mk3 fiesta actually lasts pretty well!
Your kidding right??? I mean I like the CVH engines, but come on, the Zetec (Zeta as it would have been back then) engines should have been out long before they did, and were much faster and smoother. The CVH engines long past their sell by date.
@Genius83 Ford doesn't miss a trick. They held on and sold as many CVH engined cars as they could until they had to release the zetec to meet emissions tests the CVH couldn't hope to pass.
utter cack, the 16v is 100 times the better car, the 8v CVH is a nasty horrible littl;e engine that you cannot hold at speed and is even worse around town....
you obviously had an experiance in a crappy unloved 8v 2i or you cant drive.
every 1 has there own opinions, i loved my 2i even more than driving my wifes rs1800, the 8v was a harder car to drive, hence alot of people who love driving liked the 8v more than the refined 16v
not at all mate, i had a nearly new 8v in 1992 and even with low mileage they couldn't hold a candle to the later 16v version, it may look the same buts it a completely different and better car and that is soley down to the far superior engine. But I suppose its all down to personal preference and it is after all a free country:)
no rusty fuel filler flap area, no big bore exhaust, no max power stickers, no crappy alloys or half painted bodykit, no chavs driving it up the high street at 100mph. I wouldnt buy one
@172rob the zetec engien wasnt out in 1998 so it wasnt then, the car was brought out around 1992-93 with the 16v engine if i remember correctly at earliest.
I had a 93 xr2i and it was a good car apart from the steering being too heavy.

Brilliant, so what ford were saying is that their amazing fiesta was faster than a bull. hmmmmmmm

I have a short version of this. Didn't know there was a longer one. It's deffo from the early '90s.

the 16v wont become a propper classic, the engine didnt suit the car. the 1.6 8v cvh was much better

I remember this advert! Mostly I think because of the '105 horses, 1 cat, no bull' tagline.
It would be about 92-93 time if it were the 16v '2i.
