A female born with CAH always has a vagina but will have an enlarged clitoral area that resembles a penis. It is easily removed through surgery. Boys can also have CAH and their genitalia is not affected at all. This is a disease of the adrenal glands and other than the issue of ambiguous genitalia in females this will not cause any other gender identity issues. Just wanted to clarify for those who think that it has anything to do with gender identity/confusion.

tahir22684-- I think you are a bit mistaken. Although many people with CAH may look like a male, this is not true in all cases. I have CAH and I did not have this problem. I don't like how CAH is so much associated with gender identity issues. Please do not misrepresent CAH as purely a disease where females look like males... that's not it at all and I certainly do not have that problem.

CAH, is a condition where the person is genetically/biologically a female, but looks like a male. this is a problem in the synthesis of steroid hormones when the baby is still in the uterus... the treatment has to start the day it is diagnosed, and steroids are the main line of treatment.

Wrong. Some girls with CAH can be mistaken as males at birth, but past that every CAH girl or woman I've seen looks completely female--which they are.
