If your looking at a military college you might as well choose the number ONE Military College right? That's why you should apply to North Georgia College and State University.
Our son graduates from Norwich this year; he went through ups and really bad downs his first/second year, and wanted to quit so many times we didn't let him, and told him to suck it up. He's thankful he didn't quit. Rook year is what it is and remember it's just stuff; you'll come across jerks all your life, and if you can handle the first year at Norwich, you're prepared to handle most anything in life. I watched this video four year's ago with only a few views, amazed at the # of views!
Fellas, I'm a rook here at Norwich right now and let me just say that this place isn't what you think it's going to be. I suppose you all will find out soon enough this coming Fall semester. Any questions just contact me.
@xoShiZzy Norwich is what you make it. If you want it to be like that, it will be. If you wanna just skate by, you can do that too. Its on you, not this place, to make something of yourself, noone can do it for you.
@boyce12091 You probably read my comment out of context. To clear things up, all I meant was that Norwich is a place where you're going to worker harder and a lot more differently than the average person is used to. Its a unique and rewarding experience that one cannot expect to be. I enjoyed my Rook year with my platoon and cadre, and am very much glad that I chose this place among the stack of acceptance letters I recieved.
Hey I am applying for Norwich and for the ROTC scholarship, can anybody who knows about this help me out and answer my questions? I would really appreciate it.
I have just been accepted to the Norwich Corps of Cadets and am greatly looking forward to my attendance there! I am glad that I will be able to contribute and be a part of such a prestigious group of people.

Yeah i love JROTC YEAH i cant wait get into the army and become an inteligence officer woow 5 years of my life as a young marine 1 year in JROTC and 3 more jrotc and then 4 years of rotc wooow im on a roll
Nicely prepared video ... brought back some great memories.
In response to the many comments both positive and negative. Yes, I too was royally screwed over by Jackman, and yes, I was angry for many years over it and still have some level of resentment. However, at the end of the day I know Norwich has made me who I am today and I wouldn't change that for the world. I still take great pride in my ring and diploma because I too took the road less traveled, and that has made all the difference.
You're (aka you are) absolutely correct. "Wallie" (Professor Wallace in the Engineering Dept) would have jumped down one's throat and come out the other end for this error.
It's a pity the administration, commandants' staff, etc are turning the corps into 'camp cupcake,' as my cadre said last year (also the last year with real original companies.) CCK
bro your origonal company doesnt mean anything, you guys do nothing as a company that matters to anyone in the universe and you probably arnt in C Co. anymore because all you line company fag are just numbers. so stop crying about the new corps structure and drop your fake pride in your fake company that doesnt do anythin productive. Oh and charlie cobras dont kill, they suck dick.
wow that was clever, how long did it take you to think that up, it'll take me just that long to think of what your use to the university is, hm... nothing. hey how does it feel to think that your company pride is going to be fazed out. because jackman is just going to throw a bunch of random cadets in Charlie next year and they will have no reason to think twice about what company they are in,
and your year will be the last "Charlie Cobras" must make you feel pretty insignificant huh? three years in counting, charlie cobras wont kill, they will be dead. Peace out Cobras.
from your cocky attitude and by the way you bash other companies in order to feel better about yourself, it's obvious that you must be from drill team. for the record: nobody but you gives a crap about spinning rifles(which never won any war, btw). you guys take yourselves way too seriously.
I like this video because it represents what values Norwich is trying to present via inculcation. Still, some of the posters are correct about their comments - when I was there in 1993, there was something that felt wrong and disorganized about the place; after determining that I couldn't afford to pay for the second year, I returned to "the real world" of active duty and never went back. I do miss my Rook buddies, though.
I almost went to Norwich, but then I got accepted to Texas A&M. Joined the Corps here. Glad I did. Norwich would have been my second choice though, it's a good school.
I agree. People often critize what they know nothing about. I respect people that came from not just Norwich but Citadel, Westpoint and all military academies. One of my biggest regrets is that I transfered my ring year for personal reasons. If I could change all that I would. Norwich Corps of Cadets are the BEST!
We've got a handful of folks at Texas A&M that are like that too. They only come for their contract and don't care about the traditions and history of our Corps. Sadly, I see it occurs at other senior military colleges.
That's why I have some great respect for those that choose to be cadets without having an intention of going into the military. At least the ones that continue to improve themselves and their Corps until their last day in uniform, not the ones that get fat as seniors.
This video is B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T!!! You only do the activities shown in the video during rook week. After that your really don't do shit. This is some straight up false advertisement. Don't be fooled by what you see in this video.
First off all I didn't type any word that indicates I hate Norwich. Second of all you don't know me and you don't know what I do. I make the best of what I got at Norwich on my OWN terms. I'm only stating the truth about what goes on around this place and I bet you I can get a majority of Norwich Cadets who will agree with me. Your comment is absolutly nonsense and it shows how ignorant you are by posting that crap without any way of backing it up and without any knowledge of my experiance here.

I was just referring to you're comment saying that after rook week you don't really do shit. I agree that the corps doesn't do "mil-skills day' all the time, and that may be the only time that many cadets do anything. All I'm saying is that there are groups like MCW, Rangers, Spec-ops, Seals, Semper Fi where people can pursue what they want.
Yeah but you know what? Those groups belong to the R.O.T.C.'s not the NUCC. I'm clearly talking about the NUCC itself not the R.O.T.C.'s and there groups.
@marlsoa you sure, because i have read a lot of your comments, just saying you have a lot of hostility towards that place, or at least that is the impression you give off.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I'm sorry but you seem to be a hypocrite. You say you are disappointed with the school, because "A lot of cadets are very arrogant and rude and many act very immature" Yet your comment reflects that you fall under that category yourself.
I go to this school and I have to say I am pretty disappointed with it. A lot of cadets here have a false sense of what the military really is about. They go by what they see from war movies. A lot of cadets are very arrogant and rude and many act very immature getting a thrill from damaging the barracks. There are better schools out there.

These students do everything every other college student does academically - what you see in this video is above and beyond the academics. These are outstanding, dedicated, intelligent individuals.
Class of '95. Played rugby the whole time. Norwich was a great school to me! I'm still very close to a lot of my friends from The Wich. Like the t-shirt said, it is an experience that must be lived in order to understand. Understatement of the year... Go Ruggadillos!
Well, I did get the ring, and if, as you say, I wormed my way into it, I guess I can't be too much of a moron. But, I tell you what, just for you I will see what I can do... :)
This video is fantastic! I am going to vist Norwich on April 24 during my Spring Break and I am seriously excited. My mom works on the military base near my town, both of my parents are retired Air Force, and she works with a Major that attended Norwich and he is convinced that once I visit, I wont look at any other colleges...this video just heightened my desire to attend Norwich that much more. Great job!
I'm signed up as a cadet for fall of 2008, but I'm wondering, why do so many people bash this place? From what I've read and seen, it seems like a great school.
not gonna lie, he has a point, i've been fucked by jackman hall once already, but it's more the president and the commandants rather than the cadet cols.
because on the internet you have a lot of lazy fucks who hate having to do stuff like run and try to make something of their lives. seriously how many of these people have gotten off their couches, computers, etc and done stuff? nvm stupid question.
My name is S. Stokes, and I posted this video. I thank everyone for watching and welcome comments. For those alums, I hope that this is a good representation of your past. For non-Norwich people, I hope you enjoyed a small piece of Norwich. For anyone else, I am glad that this has motivated you in a positive or negative way; motivation means that it sparked something in you, and that makes you one step ahead of the people who choose to be passive observers in this world...
I have seen positive and negative comments to this video. Let's clear a few things up. Yes, Norwich is a military school; no it is not part of the armed forces. It's not about that, Norwich is about sacrifice and challenge. Everyone here made some type of sacrifice to endure it, and had some type of challenge to finish it. At the heart of it all, it is about a bond and an inner belief that anyone can face adversity and succeed if their heart and mind are willing to believe in a common goal.

Nazi Norwich... nicee... problem is, most of you boys aren't going to the real deal, instead you insist on playing dress up with fake guns. That's cool, I prefer girls and beer.
To any of you who is in actual ROTC, thank you for your service. Be safe, God Bless.
Well, not to stop you from your rant, but you are aware that ALL cadets have to be in ROTC to be in the Corps. Also, you may want to do some research as to where ROTC comes from... I'll give you a hint, Norwich.
I am a current first year cadet, having served 3 proud years in the army as an infantryman and this video reminds me of why I came here. This video motivates me to stick it out even though I am old and have more experiance than my cadre. The honor of saying your a cadet here and having the chance to wear the ring is worth all the trials and tribulations of this place. ESSAYONS!!!
Hang tight, soldier. I was prior service as well before I went to the Wick as a rookie at 22 years of age. My friends called me grandpa. Just play the game until recognition. You may not see it now, but the Corps and Jackman will appreciate your real-life experience as a soldier when you become an upperclassman.
As an NUCC 2003 Alum, this is the most motivating video I have seen from NU in a while. Keep up the great work, we are all waiting for the sequel. ESSAYONS!
while you guys play military, just realize that there are people running around getting shot at without the epic music or the video cameras to advertise for them. so while you may be a little tougher and a little faster than the average civilian, we are still faster and tougher than you.
Well my friend. I offer this, while we have been playing military for the last 188 years many of our brothers have shed blood on the battle field. Perhaps, even you, if your in the military have seen a Norwich man or two on the field of battle. So, that being said, I would say the one's who don't make it home to play land are the toughest of all. And Norwich has many...
don't you realize that these guys who "play military" at norwich will end up on active duty in the actual military upon graduation, so shut the hell up.
Long time but needs to be addressed. Before deploying to Iraq in a Military Police Company, I was starting my Junior year at the Wick. Concurrently drilling 300+ miles away in Maine. We have brothers and sisters that attend there AND serve at the same time, so don't be too quick to judge.
Yea, and we got about 200 national guard soldiers on campus, not taking into account air national guard, army reserve, air force reserve, and navy reserve personel. Not to mention we have a good number of combat vets here too. So far 4 of our grads have died in Iraq, one of them was from my unit.
Any norwich cadets here, help me out, I was accepted at NU, but am on the fence between NU and Michigan Tech in that both are good schools, but one is military life, the other civilian, I have always planned on serving on active duty, just not sure if I want the service to be a part of my college experience. Send me some advice or info if you can.
I am a 1998 graduate from NU. If you want a very different experience than at a traditional school go ahead and go. It will be very tough at times but overall I enjoyed the piss out of it. I still have great friends that I talk to all of the time. Just as a warning there is not much to do in the way of social life, but in order to really enjoy you needto get involved in sports and other activities to pass time. Hope this helps in your choice. Good luck in where ecer you end up.
thank you for the info, perhaps the joy of military service will exceed the lack of the social atmosphre. I have always been pro-military so perhaps it is the place for me, I just hope that when all is said and done that I will have no regrets. again thank you for your comments they are helpful.
Yo Delmas!!!! Que Pasa!@? As another '98 grad from the Corps, I can say I finally see a video that captures what I remember as a genuine Norwich Experience...good job guys!
I would just like to say I am a Cadet at Norwich and I produced most of this video with the help of a few others. I am not saying that Norwich is what it once was, or that it is a place for everyone, however, it still requires more effort for students then the avg college out there. This video is a representation of some of the things I have seen at Norwich, and no matter what anyone thinks about the school, the pride, the emotions, and the effort put forth by some of the cadets is very real.
If you think teaching young men and women the true meaning of honor and integrity as "faultering ideals" then this country is in deep shit. And what do they teach at civilian colleges other than burn the flag and other disgusting liberalism?
I am a civilian only until I finish high school, and I am far from liberal, which is why I watched this in the first place.
My point is that Norwich is not what it once was. To think otherwise is to ignore the obvious. Overall, what has happened to Norwich University in the past few years is a damn shame and I feel sorry for those who plan on attending Norwich for it's "high standards."
If you're going to make a video promoting an institution of higher learning, please know the difference between 'your' and 'you're.'

From what I've read and seen, it seems like a great school.

seriously, i'm going to Norwich also as a cadet in the fall 2008...why are people talking so much trash about this school?
irieasian 3 years ago 4
because admin ruins everything...political bullshit (corrupt/puppeteered Cadet Cols and such)
akickinfuller 3 years ago
not gonna lie, he has a point, i've been fucked by jackman hall once already, but it's more the president and the commandants rather than the cadet cols.

because on the internet you have a lot of lazy fucks who hate having to do stuff like run and try to make something of their lives. seriously how many of these people have gotten off their couches, computers, etc and done stuff? nvm stupid question.

Be safe, God Bless.
brton161 4 years ago
Well, not to stop you from your rant, but you are aware that ALL cadets have to be in ROTC to be in the Corps. Also, you may want to do some research as to where ROTC comes from... I'll give you a hint, Norwich.
Thank you for your imput on our video.

And Norwich has many...
stokes771 4 years ago
don't you realize that these guys who "play military" at norwich will end up on active duty in the actual military upon graduation, so shut the hell up.

Long time but needs to be addressed. Before deploying to Iraq in a Military Police Company, I was starting my Junior year at the Wick. Concurrently drilling 300+ miles away in Maine. We have brothers and sisters that attend there AND serve at the same time, so don't be too quick to judge.
militarylaw2002 4 years ago 5

Alexn1067 4 years ago
I am a 1998 graduate from NU. If you want a very different experience than at a traditional school go ahead and go. It will be very tough at times but overall I enjoyed the piss out of it. I still have great friends that I talk to all of the time. Just as a warning there is not much to do in the way of social life, but in order to really enjoy you needto get involved in sports and other activities to pass time. Hope this helps in your choice. Good luck in where ecer you end up.
delmas1920 4 years ago
thank you for the info, perhaps the joy of military service will exceed the lack of the social atmosphre.

Who made this video?
goglianu07 4 years ago
I would just like to say I am a Cadet at Norwich and I produced most of this video with the help of a few others. I am not saying that Norwich is what it once was, or that it is a place for everyone, however, it still requires more effort for students then the avg college out there. This video is a representation of some of the things I have seen at Norwich, and no matter what anyone thinks about the school, the pride, the emotions, and the effort put forth by some of the cadets is very real.
stokes771 4 years ago
Norwich is nothing but a bickering mess with a screwed up chain of command and faultering ideals.
Go somewhere else if you want a real military-style education. Norwich is a waste of your college years.
Bitnd12 4 years ago
Hey chief, maybe it was a waste for you but for some kids maybe it won't be a waste, so why don't you stuff it
rattmadman 4 years ago
If you think teaching young men and women the true meaning of honor and integrity as "faultering ideals" then this country is in deep shit. And what do they teach at civilian colleges other than burn the flag and other disgusting liberalism?
AirborneSniper71 4 years ago
I am a civilian only until I finish high school, and I am far from liberal, which is why I watched this in the first place.
My point is that Norwich is not what it once was. To think otherwise is to ignore the obvious. Overall, what has happened to Norwich University in the past few years is a damn shame and I feel sorry for those who plan on attending Norwich for it's "high standards."
