Heavens to Murgatroid! What a scene! Very electic cast; I think Ms Stanwyck gives the best performance in this often trashy flick. The opening & closing credits by Saul Bass are some of the best in cinema history. Someone once told me he recalls a scene where Ms Stanwyck spanks co-star Capucine (who her character has a lesbian crush on - pretty daring for the early 60's!) but I've see the flick on TV a few times & don't recall every seeing such a scene. THANKS for posting this clip!! :)
@JubalCalif ...yes, I have seen this movie several times on TV and own the DVD of it too...but I've never seen the scene you are referring to above...probably would have been a good one though...
I ran out of adjectives about her long ago. I think she invented new ones, or at least suggested them.
When young people today ask me about Stanwyck, my first recommendation is always THE THORN BIRDS. The narrative goes something like this: "Watch the 75 year old try to seduce Richard Chamberland. And nearly succeed."
Well, he surely had plenty to say and a lot of damn questions for a guy on little wheels who spends his time sitting in a corner listening to other peoples conversations...
She should have turned around when he touched her and kicked him straight in the face, just to watch him roll clear to the other side of room, screaming and pissing in his pants.
@txikilin photo was suppose to be the on-screen mother of the character of JO, or otherwise it must have been one of Jo's former lovers......STANWYCK is GREAT in this sceen......"don't talk to me about love,.... what do you know about love,... what does that young fool know?".....this is real raw acting!
Stanwyck could take even lousy writing and turn water into wine. You will know when you take virtually any other actress and have her do the same scene.
such powerful acting, she was incredible. not many actors these days can match her...

I am running out of adjectives for how amazing Barbara Stanwyck was. And absolutely stunning.

I find the script terrific. Right on Barbara!

This is the hottest point in the movie. If Jo had accepted her loneliness without being so possessive she would have become the heroine in the film.
By the way, who is the woman in the portrait on the desk? She looks like Meryl Streep!
