Oh and not all asteriods are smooth and round, in fact most of them are oddly shaped. I don't think drilling a hole into it and planting a bomb is a viable option. Most asteroids are probably rubble piles and break apart easily from an explosion. That would just create more debris that would enter the Earth's atmosphere. A better option would be to slightly veer the asteroid off course with some kind of spacecraft or impactor. Of course we would need plenty of warnings before we attempt this.

I agree. Michael Bay should stay out of science fiction(like this movie) and real-life based historical films(look at Pearl Harbor, this movie was so god awful). Everytime he stick it's nose into one of those things, he always screwed it up and makes fun of it. Even the 1996 movie Independence Day is way better than this shitty movie. Both movies are crappy but i take Independence day over this shitty movie.

At least Independence Day focused on what actually happened, not just some love story.
