  • Hi thanks for the insights to making my own custom recovery disk. Is this information and methodology still relevant today, if not could you please refer me to the appropriate open source programs to acheive the desired result. Many thanks for your entertaining ways of imparting such complicated strings of info

    Cheers

    Mick

  • that dude in black shirt is being a douchebag

  • i use raid 5 cofiguation

  • Useful information but jheeze guys..get to the point.

  • Does the free version of macrium reflect also slip stream? It sounds like it does because you guys said that we need all the newest updates to put on the hard drive back up partition. Also, does the recovery cd require the original windows os install disk?

  • Does it copy the manufacturer bundled softwares too, or does it copy just Windows.

  • @signupsigma It makes a snapshot of everything that is currently on your drive. So if you don't want the manufacturer bundled software, you'd have to start out with an OEM copy of whatever OS you're running, install that+drivers, and make a snapshot of that

  • Suprised at you

why do all the crap of installing software / ghosting your drive ect.

in vista and 7 it has a built in system image creator.

type backup and restore in start and click then select create system image.

burn the image to a bootable disk or put on an external storage device

then set it to backup automatically

then you just boot into either a restore disk or even just a install disk and select recovery then select your image and you are all set

  • @ox141jf TY,I cant follow what they want done.

  • that other guy is like a geek of backseat driving A backseat geeker

  • thanks for the tips

  • it's called using a linux live cd. you can get in and recover the data if windows goes belly up. AND gives you a working OS either live or installed to keep productivity up

  • Haha I have Hirens boot CD

  • Do I have to have an external drive or can I save the image on to the boot disk itself?

  • @xtremehamster well if your HDD fails your Image of the drive does with it!

  • you guys beat around the bush too much. get to the point

  • hey i got all the utilities but how can i fix my computer that have windows\system32\config\system

  • can you use nero?

  • The white guy has one snotty nose, or sweat or whatever is on the top of his lip.....I don't think I want to know!!!!!

and WHO!!!! is on XP? just get 7 already ¬_¬

  • @rob3342421 Considering the early comments on this video are up to a year ago, pretty sure VISTA wasn't even out yet... σ_σ

  • Do a clean install, tweak all your programs and settings; THEN create a system image with ' ACRONIS '. You can then subsequently re-image your PC in a matter of minutes.

    Works flawlessly.

sooner -or- later, you regred not having done this.

    cheers...

  • @oleinfidel Why pay for Acronis when CloneZilla will do it for free?

  • firstable, what is the system recovery disc??? what is it used for?

  • Excellent really useful. Unfortunately I only found this video after I had a hard drive fail and learnt the hard way how important backing up is. I now use macrium reflect to image the drive. How about a video on partitioning a new install please

  • @77DJG Sadly this show has been discontinued

  • For a person who is not computer literate like myself, I ended up getting confused even more than I am.

I have Vista Premium and I want to create something to restore my computer if the hard drive crashes or I buy a bigger hard drive.

I know from experience I cannot do this with the recovery disc. The thought of buying a new OS and reinstalling all my apps makes me sick to my stomach.

Can anyone help me with instructions for layman like myself?

  • What if mines already crashed and my system is asking for a recovery disk. Needs system 32 file.

  • It's too late. A system recovering disk has to be created ahead and clean.

  • Does ultrabootcd support esata??

  • Thank u very much it helps me lot ..... u guys rock man...

  • Macrium Reflect is from 10:42.

  • i was gonna give it 5 more minutes

  • or... you could have a raid card and 2 different mirrored partitions one as the C: and the other raid as "c:/documents and settings\(yourname)\my documents" since windows tries to put everything in my docs and most doctors/lawyers ( clients ) have retarded secretaries .. i also usually have the 2nd raid partitioned to have like 40gb of it used for "c:/docs and settings/name/DESKTOP" ... my docs and destop... all most people store on...
