  • obviously the influences of crowley and papus are to blame as to why ppl believe in the egyptian origins, a.e. waite prior to his own deck wrote in the foreward to later editions of 'tarot of the bohemians' by papus that 'the origins of the cards were a game'. in my opinion, runomancy was too bulky so was biblliomancy (iching) to carry around, myomancy wasn't possible with out birds etc. so utilizing cards as a more portable and accessable tool for divination seems more realistic and likely

  • Tarot as game or later on when used for divination is a European invention of divination really, Gyspy (people Europeans thought came from Egypt but really came from India ) or Ancient Egyptians really had nothing to do with tarot as you stated!

  • Robert's book is *excellent*!

  • hi

we play a lot of tarot (tarokk) in Hungary.

In europe the tarot games still live on.

it is a very ancient and difficult game.

The trumps play a major role in the game, so the playing cards definetelly include the trumps.

The decks vere only used for divination from the 18th century mainly in english speaking countries where these games are unknown.

  • Thank you for that comment Zagyex

  • oops, posted previous comment on wrong vid. It might be good if you would post this one as a response to that "origins of tarot cards" by monte4amy. You should get more views for your videos.

  • Thanks I did

  • And you even pronounced "tarocchi" properly!! Excellent! Whether people play games or read the cards, It's always good when the true history comes forward. I agree, Robert Place is a very good tarot history author.
