The point ISN'T that they should implement this everywhere. Of course it would be too expensive. But the POINT was to demonstrate that adding a little fun can change behavior. It doesn't need to be piano steps. There are lots of ways to add a little fun.

all you people that are saying, "just turn the escalator off" are completely and totally missing the point. (not to mention they would still need the escalator for handicapped people) its the FUN theory. makes you wonder what else it could be applied to? i was thinking something like making school fun for children to encourage better study habits, or maybe making the gym less boring so people would actually want to go.

What happens if it's a metalhead that hates techno or ramba or whatever music they use? You can't apply everything to a fun theory unfortunately.

Give the a population the same "fun" everyday and you'll see that the use of stairs will decrease substancially so your theory's only valid.. in theory. I call it the "repetition bores people" theory. They will simply use the escalator after having used the piano stairs a few times. Love the idea though hahah.
