This is a joke. If I had a Taekwondo school I'd stick to the true martial art. I wouldn't give a 6 year old a black belt regardless if someone payed me money I'd rather get out of bussiness if someone forced me to run a belt mill. It is a huge disappointment
Rank or belts mean nothing nowadays, or even if they ever did mean anything. I reached 3rd black and had the material of a 5th degree, but that means nothing. Let your skill speak for itself, forget about belts.
@jerald2605 no kid under the age of 16 should be awarded an adult black belt, period. If he thinks he can stand up to an adult and fight full out AND WIN, then maybe he would deserve it. Something tells me he won't be doing that anytime soon.
In my old school you where just starting out. Now they have developed a program for younger students but you don't even get your full yellow belt till at least 7 years old then it is another 4-7 years before you get it. So yeah.. This boy was very sloppy on his kicks and would have NEVER made it to even high belt in the system I was in.
Because most people work their whole lives to reach a black belt level. He has been at it for 5 years, and by the time he's an adult, he'll still wear that belt, but won't remember a thing. Belt or no belt, a black belt is intergrity, honor, and perserverance, not a dark-colored waistband. He has the latter, not the first. Enough said.
Umm, defenitely from a McDojo (a.k.a., a Black Belt Factory). I could buy a black belt and put it on a 1 year old. And just because he can scream, run, and break stuff doesn't mean anything. My 2 year old nephew can do that. He should get a Poom-belt at most. Then, when you turn 16, you turn in your Poom-belt for a black belt. I mean, come on. Feel bad for his parent's wasted money, and false sense of security. Not saying he isn't talnted (because he is) but give the bugger a Poom-belt.

I don't want to knock anyone or there dojo but in my life i have seen one main point when it comes to children obtaining high ranks in martial arts (not just black belt). You have basically two different scenarios. One, the dojo doesn't teach anything really worth knowing as you advance so it doesn't matter what rank you are you still suck. Or two, the child isn't taught anything that an adult would be taught..aka kill moves. if so then the dojo is being irresponsible.
dont all you guy's karate schools have a code? if my teacher saw i posted one mean comment on the internet he would kill me! karate isnt just about being able to knock people out its about honest and pride and modesty.
I once joined karate when I was 18. I was just a white belt. We had a training session where there were two opposite facing lines, the person at the front of each opposing line would become opponents and then after the bout would return to the back of the line. The first one to land a blow on the face off would win. I got paired with a brown belt. I landed the first blow instantly to his face. The sensei said "well done!". My opponent was lying on the ground. He was 8 years old.
america has taken all that was once battlefield arts taught to kill, into these fucking mcdojos giving them a bad name and just spitting the face of everyone who still tries to train in the old ways. it makes me sick....
not totake anything away from the kid, but ppl need to realize, quite a few of the martial arts studios nowadays are nothing more than "black belt mills". basicallly, the keep promoting the students because every time the student goes for another belt, they make more money. and as long as the student can do the forms and perform correctly, they pass....usually it has nothing to do with either the spiritual aspect or if they could actually USE it if the situation came up
@THUMPBUMPDUDE And that is why Taekwondo in the USA (I'm saying Taekwondo because that's the martial art I practice and the reality I'm aware of) lacks greatly in quality. People go there to get belts rather than to learn the art. In the end, it ends up with a bunch of Dan who lack not only in skill, but most importantly, in knowledge and spirit. Not to take credit from the kid, I'm sure he has worked hard. The ones that gave him the belt are those to blame. I'm sure their pockets are now bigger
I have taught and trained in the martial arts for 25 years (not expecting ANYONE to bow and scrape over it - just pointing it out so you know I have some experience in the matter). No school worth its salt will promote someone so young. The expectations and responsibilities of a black belt are simply too much for one so young to handle.
Its not a matter of physical talent (by the way, by what little this clip shows, this kid is hardly a prodigy). Its a matter of maturity.
I thought the title of Black Belt is a priviledge and obligation to teach. This kid is a prodigy not a master and has a lot more growing up to do before he earns the title by right.
@Smoregishwash ey im in taekwondo, and in taekwon do to get a 1st degree black belt you only need to show the skills to get a bb.It is not too much for him,if hes that good he should have it as long as he's willing to not give up and move on,even if he's six
Hey keep in mind this is NOT Karate. please dont confuse them. Karate is the real deal, Karate competitions are full contact, this is why Karate isnt in the olympics and taekwondo is. all they do are flowery kicks and punches, put them against a real martial artist and they get clobbered.
Ive seen 2 many taekwondo dojos give out blackbelts like stupid. Im a Karateka and i earned my blackbelt in 10 hardworking years. and it was 10 cuz I moved country.. so it counts like 8-9 years.Taekwondo sucks
@MiniDonbeE you must not know what real tkd is. perhaps you're looking at wtf tkd schools, they generally suck because they're olympic style. itf is true tkd that uses hand strikes kicks and hand-to-hand. Plus the fighting style in a olympics or any other tournaments are different than the way you would fight to defend yourself. if a tkd black belt(a true black belt not a 6 year old) was attacked he'd be more likely to break the attacker's arm than do a "flowery kick"
So did he start training in Tae Kwon Do ever since he was 3? Or did he make it to get a black belt in less then 3 years and thats bullshit. That Tae Kwon Do dojo is obviously not that good
so he got a black belt in 3 years? lmfao guess they hand out black belts like they hand out flyers, a minimum of 7 years is needed for a black belt & his kicks arent even high lol.
@dallaskubano214 exactly, it took me 6 years to get my first black belt (in Ji Do Kwan, tae kwon do). yes this kid doesn't even have correct kicks and the hand-to-hand needed to get to black belt would definately be too weak coming from this kid to do anything. It should also be noted that 1st degree means assistant instructor and this kid is much too young to teach anyone no matter how high his level, he's just not mature enough to take that on.
Pathetic. Anyone can buy a black belt these days. Some "martial arts" really sold out. They realized it was easier to sell a "sport" vs. a martial art. Being a black belt is supposed to be more than just kicks and punches... it's recognition of a certain mindset that 6-year-old can't begin to comprehend. Jesus, he's just out of pampers for Christ's sake! The school probably wanted the publicity for having the youngest black belt. Or maybe he's not. Maybe a 3-year-old has one somewhere.
if this taekwondo school follows kukkiwon regulations then that kid cannot be promoted to full black belt, no matter how skilled he is!! he has to wear a "kiddy black belt"(red and black) until he is 15yrs old. this is why TKD is getting a bad name.
It is not the child's ability to meet the standards for the degree, nor the amount of commitment he continues to display as he perseveres towards his goal!
The problem, lies in what he is being taught and the standards to which he is being challenged. Overcoming difficulty is an admirable characteristic, BUT the level of the resistance is what defines the level of admiration.
I commend the student for fulfilling the instructors requirements, but I grow nauseated at those very requirements!
I really wish these teachers wouldn't reward kids with this kind of rank when they are clearly unable to execute with any quality their techniques. And now he's been rewarded by being on the news. I suspect he's in for some very hard lessons later on in life if he continues in this art. Its very disheartening for people who've trained diligently for years, sweated and toiled for their accomplishments to watch this kind of showmanship.
they don't just give out bb to anyone you have to earn it by going to test and meditation is 1hour, the work out is 1 hour and a thousand of everything then they actually start the testing so they don't just hand out bb like candy.
So the kid is patient enough to do all that. A child doing it is not the same as an adult doing it. And yes, I personally think many instructors do hand out black belts like candy. Standards just aren't as high as they really should be.
man i got my third dan when i was 12... this kid is sloppy, but there are kids who do have good form. obviously i couldnt teach a class at age 12, but i knew ever pattern inside and out, competed in many provincial tournaments and probably had better form than half of the 3rd dans who were adults. not all tkd is crap!
@CenturyNinja TRAIN HARD 24/7 and no sleep at all until 1 day after u bday ask u master if he does grading and do IT! but u can't beat up a 16+ 2nd dan can u ?
@hasan2558 I'm sorry but you don't get a 3rd dan at age 12, I train a ton and I've been doing Tae Kwon Do for 6 years, Tae Kwon Do is my life, so I'm pretty sure I know a little bit about Tae Kwon Do and I know that it takes a good 15 years to get a 3rd dan, unless of course your master just wants to make money by just belt testing based on time and not experience. Also your last comment was completely unnecessary for as you learn in Tae Kwon Do to not beat people up...
@CenturyNinja good point im speachless lol anyways train hard! then but ur young man don't ask people how to reach 3rd dan then, its a unnecessary question ask your master and I know TKD is about bringing peace to this world by the way my master doesn't grade me for my money alright I've been white belt for about 4 months until i reached yellow since he didn't think I have totally mastered the basic moves! my comment was a little crappy i know i am sorry for such a unnecessary answer Taekwon!
@CenturyNinja I apologize for my stupid behavior before, it doesn't matter how old you are if your 2nd dan and 12 then that great. Why even ask that question ''how can I become 3rd dan with the age of 12?'' the answer is train become as good as a 3rd dan if your master still doesn't think your ready then TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN there is no other solution, you can't drink a bottle saying will grade you to 3rd dan drink you just have to work on you technique and train there is no other answer..TAEKWON!
Just make sure if someone pulls out a weapon at him that he doesn't go all Bruce lee on them and think he can disarm them or something. He should do the here's my wallet take it defense move and get outta there.
that kid has the heart for TKD, but kind of sad how TKD just gives out black belt like candy. I been training karate for years and other martial arts while I was in the marine corps and I still not black belt.
dont blame the art, its the dojo and the instructor that handed the kid his rank. It doesnt mean every tae kwon do school hands out black belts to 6 year olds. Ive been in tae kwon do for 10 years and im still 4 belts away from black. (16 yrs old).
I train in Shorin ryu Karate, and I know Karate and Tae Kwon Do are not the same art at all. But at my school it takes a minimum of five years of training to get a black belt, and thats generally if you go five days a week and practice at home. You also have to be at least 16. This kid may be a prodigy, but the that rank is too much for him
@Smoregishwash true, maturity is very important in martial arts, along with confidence and respect. this kid has another 12 years in him at least to recieve a black belt first dan. all in time.
@19VacuusANomen91 the take a shit on martial arts all they do is give rank test like free candy all they care is about the money they obtain from rank test
ugghhhh! a 6 year old with a black belt means a 6 year old who reckons hes the best in the world!
If youre awarded a black belt at a young age youre gonna get ahead of yourself and reckon that you can beat everyone up and blah blah!
Ive seen it happen so many times for instance one of my friends who does tkd and his a second dan black belt yet he still gets the shit beaten out of him whereas im at a humble grade of green belt in judo and when him and i spar i beat the shit out of him!
obviously they just hand out belts at this school. Please! a 6 year old! ive been training for 4 years and i still have atleast another year before i can test for my brown belt. thats a joke. wat is the world coming to?!
aaaw that's cute his belt was down to his feet! ya props to him for earning a black belt and im not trying to insult him or anything but i'm just throwing it out there that it takes a person in my association about 4-5 years to get a black belt. weird how different places do stuff differently. Ive been doing taekwondo for around 7 years and i'm only a second degree black belt.
This video is about recognition for the work done by this amazing kid, Whether he's 8 or 25 he's working to his ability and doing what he has to do to earn his degree, If anyone thinks it is unfair, try the training he's been going trough religiously, I've seen him in competitions and every time he's got a medal he's earned it. he's truly an inspiration for anyone who's thinks things will come to them, he has worked for every single recognition he's got.
a black belt is supposed to represent a some degree of mastery in the MA in question. would you put this kid in front off a class to teach other people, who might be a lot older then him?
i'm sorry, but when i see a black belt that hasn't even gone trough puberty, my McDojo alarm goes off.
and giving black belts to kids is also dangerous! what if some 8 year old BB gets mugged and decides to fight the muggers cuz, you know he's a BB. the kid might get killed.
I have, YOU don't understand. Me, a motivated 15 year old at the time, took up Karate in lieu of school sports, worked my ass off for 5 years to get my brown belt. Went to the dojo at least 4 times a week to train.
I don't you think you know what dedication really means.
A 4 year old (guessing he started when he was 4) doesn't know the dedication as well as adults or teenagers.
The quality control on this dojang is horrible like most TKD places.
six year old with a black belt, what a load of bullshit, he can barely kick, his hands are all over the place, what exactly did he get the belt for, the standard of martial arts generally is just not there.
Im sure this kid trains hard but there is a big difference between kid martial arts and adult martial arts. At 6 years old you dont have near enough physical power to effectively pull off any of those fantastic kick punch combos that Tae Kwon Do is known for in a self defense situation (unless of course its against another kid his age). In time though due to his early start, when he grows up hes going to be extremely talented!
i`m from germany n i started taekwondo at the age of 8, and that was 14 years ago now.. i graduated as a blackbelt at the age of 21 - unless you are not allowed to get BB under the age of 18 in our schools..not the worst rule i think, a "master" requires not only the techniques but also the experience.. u dont get that at the age of 6..
i started at four and went on till i was fourteen and im only red belt.
The americans are ruining tae kwon do. (no offense.)
In Korea, you can only become black belt after atleast five years of taking tae kwon do. becuase green itself requires 3 years to get. All the other belts take a few month to get.
It seems a bit odd to me, for someone so young having a black belt. Years ago a person with little martial arts experience would be scared of a black belt person. But kids under say 11 , come on. lve seen even younger i think, look at Regis warm ups up, world youngest black belt on regis, she doesn't look much older than 5. But then again if you stick with it, you deserve to be graded, dont you? weather your man, woman or child. Just hope it doesn't give these kids a false sense of confidence.
ummm..lol u shuld see the nunchucks dude his amazing and his about 70times bettr than this guy so yeh and his only 6??? and i surley think his 2nd black belt
i got my black belt at age 10 and now i'm a black belt 2nd dan. this kid needs a little work until hes an actual black belt. then again hes 6 years old
I agree, he needs some work. That's exactly why he shouldn't have this belt. Age shouldn't be an excuse, if you can't perform the techniques correctly with enough force, then you shouldn't have the black belt.
I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say he does either ITA or ATA taekwondo?
In my TKD training you have to be at least 16 years old to test for a black belt.

Another little kid given a black belt *shakes head*
weisser08 1 year ago
he was probably just given a junior black belt
person365 1 year ago
He is not deserving black belt, if you take a look of the old standars black belt= almost perfect technique, nice speed and some strength...
this is bullshit thats the deal, and nothing more to say :P

Perfection is 9th Dan.

I really wish these teachers wouldn't reward kids with this kind of rank when they are clearly unable to execute with any quality their techniques. And now he's been rewarded by being on the news. I suspect he's in for some very hard lessons later on in life if he continues in this art. Its very disheartening for people who've trained diligently for years, sweated and toiled for their accomplishments to watch this kind of showmanship.

they don't just give out bb to anyone you have to earn it by going to test and meditation is 1hour, the work out is 1 hour and a thousand of everything then they actually start the testing so they don't just hand out bb like candy.
peanuthead63 2 years ago
So the kid is patient enough to do all that. A child doing it is not the same as an adult doing it. And yes, I personally think many instructors do hand out black belts like candy. Standards just aren't as high as they really should be.
newsearching 2 years ago
man i got my third dan when i was 12... this kid is sloppy, but there are kids who do have good form. obviously i couldnt teach a class at age 12, but i knew ever pattern inside and out, competed in many provincial tournaments and probably had better form than half of the 3rd dans who were adults. not all tkd is crap!

How do you get a 3rd dan in Tae Kwon Do at age 12?
CenturyNinja 2 years ago
@CenturyNinja TRAIN HARD 24/7 and no sleep at all until 1 day after u bday ask u master if he does grading and do IT! but u can't beat up a 16+ 2nd dan can u ?
hasan2558 1 year ago
@hasan2558 I'm sorry but you don't get a 3rd dan at age 12, I train a ton and I've been doing Tae Kwon Do for 6 years, Tae Kwon Do is my life, so I'm pretty sure I know a little bit about Tae Kwon Do and I know that it takes a good 15 years to get a 3rd dan, unless of course your master just wants to make money by just belt testing based on time and not experience. Also your last comment was completely unnecessary for as you learn in Tae Kwon Do to not beat people up...
CenturyNinja 1 year ago
@CenturyNinja good point im speachless lol anyways train hard! then but ur young man don't ask people how to reach 3rd dan then, its a unnecessary question ask your master and I know TKD is about bringing peace to this world by the way my master doesn't grade me for my money alright I've been white belt for about 4 months until i reached yellow since he didn't think I have totally mastered the basic moves! my comment was a little crappy i know i am sorry for such a unnecessary answer Taekwon!
hasan2558 1 year ago
@CenturyNinja I apologize for my stupid behavior before, it doesn't matter how old you are if your 2nd dan and 12 then that great. Why even ask that question ''how can I become 3rd dan with the age of 12?'' the answer is train become as good as a 3rd dan if your master still doesn't think your ready then TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN there is no other solution, you can't drink a bottle saying will grade you to 3rd dan drink you just have to work on you technique and train there is no other answer..TAEKWON!

Don't care if hes a black belt. I'm older, stronger and taller I can just pick him up mwahahahaha

that kid has the heart for TKD, but kind of sad how TKD just gives out black belt like candy. I been training karate for years and other martial arts while I was in the marine corps and I still not black belt.
MrKrealkalyn 2 years ago
dont blame the art, its the dojo and the instructor that handed the kid his rank. It doesnt mean every tae kwon do school hands out black belts to 6 year olds. Ive been in tae kwon do for 10 years and im still 4 belts away from black. (16 yrs old).
brycen27 2 years ago
I train in Shorin ryu Karate, and I know Karate and Tae Kwon Do are not the same art at all. But at my school it takes a minimum of five years of training to get a black belt, and thats generally if you go five days a week and practice at home. You also have to be at least 16. This kid may be a prodigy, but the that rank is too much for him

@Smoregishwash agreed .. ive been training for nine years and im not even considering going for my black belt >_< ..
thatvideoguy1993 1 year ago
@Smoregishwash true, maturity is very important in martial arts, along with confidence and respect. this kid has another 12 years in him at least to recieve a black belt first dan. all in time.

19VacuusANomen91 2 years ago 57
@19VacuusANomen91 the take a shit on martial arts all they do is give rank test like free candy all they care is about the money they obtain from rank test

ugghhhh! a 6 year old with a black belt means a 6 year old who reckons hes the best in the world!
If youre awarded a black belt at a young age youre gonna get ahead of yourself and reckon that you can beat everyone up and blah blah!
Ive seen it happen so many times for instance one of my friends who does tkd and his a second dan black belt yet he still gets the shit beaten out of him whereas im at a humble grade of green belt in judo and when him and i spar i beat the shit out of him!
bloodymarry667 2 years ago
obviously they just hand out belts at this school. Please! a 6 year old! ive been training for 4 years and i still have atleast another year before i can test for my brown belt. thats a joke. wat is the world coming to?!
GoatMelon 2 years ago 2
aaaw that's cute his belt was down to his feet! ya props to him for earning a black belt and im not trying to insult him or anything but i'm just throwing it out there that it takes a person in my association about 4-5 years to get a black belt. weird how different places do stuff differently. Ive been doing taekwondo for around 7 years and i'm only a second degree black belt.
hamsterluver1234 2 years ago
yea me to..but ive been doin it for nine years and i hav a second degree

This video is about recognition for the work done by this amazing kid, Whether he's 8 or 25 he's working to his ability and doing what he has to do to earn his degree, If anyone thinks it is unfair, try the training he's been going trough religiously, I've seen him in competitions and every time he's got a medal he's earned it. he's truly an inspiration for anyone who's thinks things will come to them, he has worked for every single recognition he's got.
Go Dontre!

seriously...
a black belt is supposed to represent a some degree of mastery in the MA in question. would you put this kid in front off a class to teach other people, who might be a lot older then him?
i'm sorry, but when i see a black belt that hasn't even gone trough puberty, my McDojo alarm goes off.
and giving black belts to kids is also dangerous! what if some 8 year old BB gets mugged and decides to fight the muggers cuz, you know he's a BB. the kid might get killed.
Moosh50 2 years ago 5
@oalvarado7
Da1RiSiN1sMoKe 1 year ago
@oalvarado7 OH PLEASE! Im sorry but hes not that good. Another disgrace and slap in the face of those who actually know.
sokejigga 5 months ago
six year old with a black belt, what a load of bullshit, he can barely kick, his hands are all over the place, what exactly did he get the belt for, the standard of martial arts generally is just not there.
singhakabuttar 3 years ago
i've been doing karate for 8 years and im a 1st degree black belt plus our test is 20 hours long
popmakpop 3 years ago 5
Im sure this kid trains hard but there is a big difference between kid martial arts and adult martial arts. At 6 years old you dont have near enough physical power to effectively pull off any of those fantastic kick punch combos that Tae Kwon Do is known for in a self defense situation (unless of course its against another kid his age). In time though due to his early start, when he grows up hes going to be extremely talented!

im not any belt, but thats amazing

i`m from germany n i started taekwondo at the age of 8, and that was 14 years ago now.. i graduated as a blackbelt at the age of 21 - unless you are not allowed to get BB under the age of 18 in our schools..not the worst rule i think, a "master" requires not only the techniques but also the experience.. u dont get that at the age of 6..
just my 2 cents..
kuz4racing 3 years ago 3
started at three? wtf
i started at four and went on till i was fourteen and im only red belt.
The americans are ruining tae kwon do. (no offense.)
In Korea, you can only become black belt after atleast five years of taking tae kwon do. becuase green itself requires 3 years to get. All the other belts take a few month to get.
atgod94 3 years ago
10 year old black belt, wow i am soooo scared.
jaktigmidblinx 3 years ago
It seems a bit odd to me, for someone so young having a black belt. Years ago a person with little martial arts experience would be scared of a black belt person. But kids under say 11 , come on. lve seen even younger i think, look at Regis warm ups up, world youngest black belt on regis, she doesn't look much older than 5. But then again if you stick with it, you deserve to be graded, dont you? weather your man, woman or child. Just hope it doesn't give these kids a false sense of confidence.

It's just bullshit. A shame to taekwondo. They grant black belts to 6 year old kids who are at white belt level, just so that they can brag about it.

WOW Can you say ego trip.
hotshotpb97 4 years ago 2
i got my black belt at age 10 and now i'm a black belt 2nd dan. this kid needs a little work until hes an actual black belt. then again hes 6 years old
born2act135 4 years ago
I agree, he needs some work. That's exactly why he shouldn't have this belt. Age shouldn't be an excuse, if you can't perform the techniques correctly with enough force, then you shouldn't have the black belt.
I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say he does either ITA or ATA taekwondo?
