Toronto does suck. I've been here a year and already headed back to the states. they charge prices like they are New York and compare everything they have to New York (for example, they call their beloved Dundas Square the "Times Square" of Canada.) They still use streetcars as a primary form of transportation and charge you 3 dollars each crappy ride. I could go on forever...Toronto sucks
I can't stand Toronto, I've been there and it was exactly as expected, cool sights and a sea of rude and narcissistic people. People favouring Toronto have pretty much justified why the rest of Canada casts judgement upon you. Visitors have always lauded that Vancouver is amazing and that the people are way nicer here than out east. We have a sore spot, the downtown eastside, stop whining. I love Vancouver. I love Edmonton. I love Halifax. I love Montreal Why shouldn't I? Canada is an amazing country with dozens of world-class cities. That's why I can't understand why people resent Toronto so much. It rains ~ 7 months out of the year, but when it does, it's snowing on our 3 mountains that are within 30 minutes driving distance. World class Whistler is 2 hours away. The summer (from May - Sept) is a comfortable 22-30 *c. Not a sweltering 35+. We have THE best beaches along the Ocean.

I lived in Toronto for 3 yrs and now some another metropolitan Asian city (Singapore). As a foreigner, I still miss TORONTO a lot and I love T.O. Toronto is awesome! Basically, Toronto's got everything. Financial district, good university, street cars and public transportation, multi-racial/cultural society, shopping malls, broadcasting centres, NHL team, MLB team, NBA team and the list goes on forever. Other cities are just jealous of what Toronto's got. ADMIT IT BITCHES!

Being french and from montreal, it almost comes naturally to hate toronto. But to be fair toronto changed alote in the past few years, they have a night life now and its not so bad....Its seems its just a trend. Toronto is not so bad after all, exept for the leafs, they really do suck...

The City of Vancouver is a bit of a disaster. It started when they obtained the Olympics. What you need to understand that the city is full of Yuppies, Hippies, Asians & Junkies. I have lived in BC for over 15 years and I have yet to meet a SINGLE Leafs fan. Most people's top three are Van, Habs, Oilers/Flames. Maybe the Sens. The majority of people I knew growing up would cheer for ANY other team over the Leafs. Because the Leafs are really terrible.

We were ranked the most livable city in the world by the Economist. Van's a young city compared to Toronto. We've got time to develop still.

The biggest problem Vancouverites have is the fact whenever the Leafs came to play GM Place would be 50% Leaf fans. It has more to do with the fact Toronto is shoved down peoples throats in the west while nobody in the East (Toronto) cares a damn about Vancouver. I grew up in a small town and live in Toronto...I even lived in the yukon for a while...basically, people who hate Toronto have never lived there. There's something for everyone, and if you can't find your niche then maybe that's your own problem. I have rarely heard anyone in Toronto talk crap about Vancouver, but when I lived in Van all I heard was how much Toronto sucks...so who are the snobs, and who has the superiority (or inferiority) complex?

Look, the canadians who bash Toronto obviously haven't come from Vancouver, Moncton, Halifax etc. to Toronto itself. Yes, but Vancouver, Moncton, and Halifax can grow on you too. As for myself, I was born and raised in Montreal, and it'S not that I hate Toronto so much as I just don't feel comfortable there. I would say the main cause is probably a preconception of Toronto being all work no fun, as I've often heard in peoples say that Toronto is Canada's business capital when they want to praise it. It's all a matter of perspective in the end.
I love Canada. I live in London Ontario, and go to Toronto often, but I love Canada.. You know what that means? Halifax, St. John's, Moncton, Charlottetown, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton, Vancouver.
Toronto sucks! --At the age of 15, I had my wallet stolen at the CNE fair --shook our heads in disbelief --an idiot CNN Tower employee had treated my girlfriend with absolute enmity and total disrespect. I've been here a year and already headed back to the states. they charge prices like they are New York and compare everything they have to New York (for example, they call their beloved Dundas Square the "Times Square" of Canada.) They still use streetcars as a primary form of transportation and charge you 3 dollars each crappy ride. I could go on forever...Toronto sucks

I can't stand Toronto, I've been there and it was exactly as expected, cool sights and a sea of rude and narcissistic people. People favouring Toronto have pretty much justified why the rest of Canada casts judgement upon you. Visitors have always lauded that Vancouver is amazing and that the people are way nicer here than out east. We have a sore spot, the downtown eastside, stop whining. I love Vancouver. I love Edmonton. I love Halifax. I love Montreal Why shouldn't I? Canada is an amazing country with dozens of world-class cities. That's why I can't understand why people resent Toronto so much. It is the largest city, the center of finance/media/advertising and recognised for its cultural diversity, international diplomacy and heritage sports franchises. It rains ~ 7 months out of the year, but when it does, it's snowing on our 3 mountains that are within 30 minutes driving distance. World class Whistler is 2 hours away. The summer (from May - Sept) is a comfortable 22-30 *c. Not a sweltering 35+. We have THE best beaches along the Ocean.
And people of Canada don't hate us.

I lived in Toronto for 3 yrs and now some another metropolitan Asian city (Singapore). As a foreigner, I still miss TORONTO a lot and I love T.O. Toronto is awesome! Basically, Toronto's got everything. Financial district, good university, street cars and public transportation, multi-racial/cultural society, shopping malls, broadcasting centres, NHL team, MLB team, NBA team and the list goes on forever. Other cities are just jealous of what Toronto's got. ADMIT IT BITCHES!

The City of Vancouver is a bit of a disaster. It started when they obtained the Olympics. What you need to understand that the city is full of Yuppies, Hippies, Asians & Junkies. That pretty much comprises of the Canuck fanbase too, which is the reason why a lot of BCers are infact Leaf fans, more than you would want to admit ;D.

We don't really have an inferiority complex. That would mean we'd actually consider ourselves inferior. Which most people in BC don't. Vancouver is beautiful in a way that I really don't think Toronto ever will be. We could have a stockmarket or we could warm winters, Stanley Park and mountain backdrops. We were ranked the most livable city in the world by the Economist. Van's a young city compared to Toronto. We've got time to develop still.

@tinkerpanda I'm sorry, but when I lived in Vancouver all I could remember was people hating on Toronto for absolutely no reason at all. The biggest problem Vancouverites have is the fact whenever the Leafs came to play GM Place would be 50% Leaf fans. It has more to do with the fact Toronto is shoved down peoples throats in the west while nobody in the East (Toronto) cares a damn about Vancouver. BTW, Toronto also ranked in the that list as most livable city (15th or something).

@oichakdeyphatay - a vast overstatement. I've been there during Leafs games and the place is hardly 5% leafs fans. Nobody likes the Leafs. People come specifically to hate on the Leafs. They're a really terrible team - a shame, given that they've won the cup so many times. But they're really gone downhill.
Toronto and Calgary also ranked. But Van was higher. We have a nicer climate. Unless your into cold. If you are I judge you.
Toronto doesn't give a shit about anyone. Not just Van.

Toronto's got a lot of banking headquarters and such, but it's not the only economically thriving city. Vancouver's not that irrelevant. It's definately a pretty big center of industry, trade and economics. People who blow it off entirely are borderline retarded.

I live in Toronto. I think the people across this country who say they hate Toronto are former Toronto residents. I don't 'hate' Toronto per se... but I certainly cannot wait to move out of here as soon as school is over.
It's the size of a major city with a terrible infrastructure and taxation system... other things as well. But this place is not conducive to relaxed living. Period.

I grew up in a small town and live in Toronto...I even lived in the yukon for a while...basically, people who hate Toronto have never lived there. There's something for everyone, and if you can't find your niche then maybe that's your own problem. I have rarely heard anyone in Toronto talk crap about Vancouver, but when I lived in Van all I heard was how much Toronto sucks...so who are the snobs, and who has the superiority (or inferiority) complex?

People hate Ontario in BC in general. Not just Toronto. Mostly it's because we feel like our needs or wants are neglected in favour of population heavyweights Quebec and Ontario. And all our media is pretty much Ontario-centric. So instead of tuning into to TV and seeing stuff about ourselves we see stuff about ... well ... you. And that's not so much fun.

Toronto-centrism is accepted by the nat'l media, but it's argued that to be focused on your own city if you live elsewhere is "backwater". Both are myopic/ narrow-minded.
Not as bad as I was expecting, but I have to admit it's my least favourite of places I've lived. Just a city. Leafs are no good tho - even their fans can't argue that they really are bad.

Yes, but Vancouver, Moncton, and Halifax can grow on you too. As for myself, I was born and raised in Montreal, and it'S not that I hate Toronto so much as I just don't feel comfortable there. I would say the main cause is probably a preconception of Toronto being all work no fun, as I've often heard in peoples say that Toronto is Canada's business capital when they want to praise it. It's all a matter of perspective in the end.
