She's one of the few originals, and she doesn't blow jive, but the sound is so muddy, her last couple of CD's have been this way. I liked the cleaner, sharper sound of her earlier recordings. And she's dressed like a bag lady, love her hair but lose the clothes. She's an iconoclast, which I can respect, but keep it simple

She was one of my favorites in my teen years. Chuck E's in Love, Pirates and a small album, Volcanos. Beautiful, emotional songs. Watching this and a few other clips on YouTube, wish she did have given more respect to technique. Technique can carry you a long way. Can save you when you're uninspired and enrich when you're at top form. I think of her along the same lines as Tom Waits, and ultimately, he showed more respect for vocals and poetry. Still, completely funky. Completely himself.

She did do drugs for a while. Not gonna deny it and neither would she. When she first toured here for 'Pirates' (still my favourite album and so underrated) she was two hours late then did 45 minutes. But you have to do something right to last 30 years and keep fans as loyal as I am, and believe me I've become so cynically jaded after 20 years in the biz myself that it's a wonder anybody can move me like she still does.

Rickie Lee Jone's voice, like Leonard Cohen's and some other composer/singers is, like beer, an acquired taste. Some people will never find it to their liking while others will grow, with discernment, to appreciate it. The sound quality, as reproduced here, is poor.

Yea, first time but I have been a fan since I was a kid. The new album is great. First 5 songs were her at the piano with a guitar player making quiet noises and the bass being played with a bow. Rest of the show was a band but not like in the past. 2 guitar, bass, drums, and some backup vocals, very noise-rock. Have you heard the new album?
