@philbio66 Sure it does, philboi! Maybe not in the Entertainment Weekly sense, but the best hypnotists make their subjects the stars of the show, and have them leave feeling great, too. So for this little show, you bet they were stars.
They're not feeling great because of what they did. They're only feeling that way because the hypnotist is able to affect how they will feel when they come out of trance. No one should feel great after making a complete fool of themselves while in trance. Besides if stage hypnosis was "good", hypnotists shouldn't have to instruct people to feel good.
@philbio66 We're basically saying the same thing, I think. The hypnotist doesn't actually need to instruct someone to feel good, as the trance state does that already. Most do so anyway to enhance the effect. And keep in mind that in the audience, we think the person is making a fool of himself, but to the subject, he's just having a wonderful time. If anyone truly felt embarrassed, his subconscious mind would stop him. Most volunteers have an outgoing nature which helps their responses.
No, I'm saying that the hypnotist can make a subject feel good about doing things that they would find to be embarrassing or humiliating under any other circumstances. As a hypnotist you should know that many deep trance and somnaumbulistic subjects won't be able to refuse suggestions and they can be made to do things that they would later find to be embarrassing.
@philbio66 Whoa whoa whoa there tiger. Subjects can indeed reject suggestions when they are in somnambulism and if they go any deeper then it takes forever to hear them-the ultimate rejection.
People do not feel embarased after a session, its only if they have been convinced later by their peers that they were acting foolish that they feel foolish at all. While on stage one does not need to make them feel good they do already. The hypnotist merely intensifies that. Have you been under yourself?
Yes, somnambulistic subjects can reject suggestions but that doesn't mean all subjects can reject suggestions. I'm not totally following your last comments. People can feel embarrassed humiliated or ashamed of what they did while in trance. Hypnotist do try to affect how a person will feel when they come out of trance to prevent them from feeling this way. No, I've never been hypnotized.
@philbio66 Try it. You will be hooked. And you're right, some people don't reject suggestions- and even like this fella in the red shirt in the video- they add to it. But unless you are a cruel hypnotist and change the context on them, you will never make them do anything embarassing. Watch my videos, you will see I constantly ask my subjects if its alright with them, and even tell them how to communicate if they don't want to do something, and they don't want to be embarassed. So they won't. .
If you knew I was right about the things I said, why did you try to conince me I was wrong.
Why would i be hooked? The whole point of most hypnosis shows is to make people do and say embarrassing and humiliating things.
If your subjects are in trance how would they know what's "alright"? What could be alright to the subconscious might not be alright if they had use of the conscious mind's critical defense mechanisms such as your inhibitions.
@philbio66 do the embarassing thing. The subconcious protects them and they have a heap load of fun. I've never met a single person who has been embarassed while in trance nor a person who did something that they themselves were not at least 70% comfortable with at the time. Hypnotists don't make fools of people they make stars of them. Yeah, as a hypnotist you wanna make them feel good but thats not because they feel bad. You make them feel better!
For many deep trance and somnamubulistic subjects, the subcoscious mind does not protect them. Performing ridiculous acts while an audience howls with laughter does not make you a star. if hypnotist was able to get a subject to make out with a broom, eat and onion believing it's an apple, perform a simulated sex act and experience orgasms while an audience laughed at them, why should that person feel good about it afterwards?
@philbio66 when was the last time you had an orgasm? I feel pretty damn good afterwards. But really, its the subconcious that really defends your psyche, and you are aware of all that goes on. Your right a lot of shows are like that, some aren't, but most are. And yes, it does indeed make them the star. Nobody remembers the hypnotist, everyone remembers the subject, the hypnotist didn't make anyone laugh, the subject did. Haven't you ever done something ridiculous and been able to laugh about it
@philbio66 We do not force people to do things they do not want to do. if the subconcious thinks its alright then it is. Many times I'll want a subject to do something and they simply won't because they don't want to or they think it will harm them.
While you are under you are in the best place in the world, reality is more real than its ever been. Trust me, you would be hooked and not embarassed, I seriously advocate being hypnotized before you make judgements about it. are you a hypnotist?

Oh, come on Brizy. His subjects are the entertainment but that doesn't make them stars.
